1 Upside Down

"I'm pregnant and it's yours" is what the text message said from Maria, John hadn't seen her in 3 months, the last message he got from her was "Don't ever contact me again." John, a 29 year old hispanic male, medium built. He was confused, how could somebody who was pregnant with his child tell him the day prior to never contact her again. He knew why, he wasn't exactly the best guy, weeks prior he sent Maria a text that read "hey, I don't like the way things ended, could we maybe go out to dinner?" When he didn't hear back, he didn't think much of it and simply put that in the back of his mind. He thought to himself, "where did it all go south, when did I lose my grip and control over my own life." He knew when, he could pinpoint the exact time things started going south.

Maria was a 25-year-old mother who had a kid from a previous relationship, one of the sweetest women he had met in his life. The more they talked, the more they realized they wanted to give it a try, things were going great at first, she was very spontaneous and while not as much as she was, he was as spontaneous as they come, things started to move too fast for either one of them and they were both caught off guard, so to her request, they called it quits and went along their separate ways. John was fine, he was staying busy with work, he was working for a TV station at the time about to cover the 2014 World Cup, he was excited for the opportunity to demonstrate he was good at his job.

As John was working, he jumped back into the dating pool, joined a few dating apps and met a teacher who was incredible, supportive and enjoyed the simple things in life. All while working like crazy, John managed to balance both lives for a while. After the World Cup coverage ended, John needed to take some time and go on vacation with Kaitlynn, they went off to Key West where they had an awesome weekend filled with fun things. As such, all good things come to an end, not only was the trip over, but the relationship ended thereafter. John was tired, moody, and wasn't happy with the direction his life was taking. An opportunity presented itself where he could go on a 10 day vacation to Italy, a country he had always wanted to visit. It was his reward for working countless hours to make a World Cup coverage one of the best.
