24 Chapter 21

(Fenrir Pov)

Was this really worth it? Like really, really, was it worth it? It would be so, so easy to just like, fake my death or something, and while I'm sure someone like Nezu would suspect something, he wouldn't be able to do anything about it, so was it really worth entertaining this farce? Or I could just, you know, kill them all. Like seriously, did the world need them? It wouldn't really matter if they just, you know, "disappeared", right?

No, I can't just give up here, sunk cost fallacy or whatever I have already spent so much of my time and patience dealing with this bullshit, all that suffering would be rendered worthless if I gave up now, not to mention it would make Nier sad. I knew she wouldn't care, she would respect my decision, but it would make her sad to never be able to interact with greater society outside of her identity as the child of the trusted hands of the Okami family.

Well anyway, you must be wondering what could possibly give me such a great existential crisis that I would ponder throwing away my civilian Identity. Well it all started with Allmight arriving and telling all the students about a villain vs hero simulation they would be participating in, an explanation that I, in all honesty, completely ignored -his voice is just so fucking grating alright?-. Anyway, this then led to all the students being given briefcases containing the suits they had requested earlier in the year, and heading off to the changing rooms.

That was all fine and dandy, I finished changing even before the others reached the changing rooms, and went to wait at the designated waiting area, with Nier arriving soon after.

I wore a dark grey skin tight long sleeved undershirt/bodysuit that reached just below my wrists, which were themselves covered in a pair of fingerless gloves. and covered most of my neck. made from a composite of high performance materials such as very thin layers of high hardness materials like graphene, and a kind of liquid crystal that solidified when exposed to a large amount of energy, as well as various kinds of paddings and a few substances that would self seal any cuts in the armor, all while being only 1.5 mm thick.

Above that I wore a thin black jacket made of the same material, although its main purpose was to act less as an armor and more of a way of conveniently storing a variety of weapons, tools, or any other useful equipment, that would otherwise be energy inefficient to produce on the spot or simply in case It would not be worth teleporting them in, as well as a few life saving tools and medicines in case I become indisposed and need someone to revive me.

Below that I wore a pair of semi-loose black pants, again made of the same material. Not skintight for obvious reasons, but not loose enough to ever get in the way.

I had made everything myself and combined with a variety of runes I had integrated into their design as well as allow them to interact with my own meant it improved my defenses by on average roughly 63%, as well as slightly improved my strength, speed, or other abilities depending on the circumstances and use, although the boost was quite inconsequential.

Finally I wore a pair of high durability boots designed to slightly improve my speed and maneuverability while vastly improving the lethality of my kicks, as well as my usual mask.

Nier wore similar clothing, ones I had built for her to the same standard as my own, as I didn't trust anyone else to make her equipment, not to mention anything I made was vastly superior to anything I had seen others use, although she had designed it herself. Opting to wear a regular looking white shirt over her neigh invisible skin color bodysuit, and making her jacket a deep maroon, while adding a stylized fox muzzle to her mask. And forgoing the gloves.

All in all, we wore practical armor designed to maximize both comfort and utility while not compromising on defense or mobility, that both looked nice and didn't look like something straight out of a cartoon, functional and elegant, like all uniforms should be.

I had expected the others to do something similar, after all, this was real life, and even if I remembered some of them having some incredibly dumb suits in the original story, there was no way any functional human being would choose such useless, stupid costumes. Right? Right?

I don't know why I'm even trying anymore.

Anyway, this was the cause of my latest round of hatred for my "fellow" students, as I stared at the freakshow appearing before my eyes.

Seriously, out of all 18 of the students standing before me, only 6 wore clothing that wasn't obstructive, while the rest wore things that either directly obstructed/limited their movement, strength, vision, defense, etc. and most offered little to no defensive or tactical advantage.

Like seriously, I know that wearing any visible armor would negate the invisible girls advantage, but studies had proven that making clothing out of the hair of the quirk holder would allow it to share the same properties, not to mention her gloves and boots made her visible, although to be fair she could remove them easily.

Still though, the fact that she just runs around naked was beyond stupid to me, and considering I was very much capable of seeing her, she was lucky I had no interest in her and simply ignored her presence.

And then there were people like Momo, who looked like a stripper. I know she needs exposed skin to make stuff, but couldn't she just use zippers to only expose the skin when necessary? It made for both a needlessly large weak spot and a liability. Could she not just make stuff from her arms or something? That's another point it gave no excuse for leaving her arms and legs completely exposed.

And then of course there was the fact that most of them looked completely fucking stupid.

I had to shut off my senses and focus only on what was directly in front of me, while constantly reminding myself it really wasn't worth, my right eye only finally stopped twitching when we had already reached the testing grounds, and Allmight was already done with his briefing, and I felt a tap on my shoulder, turning to find a hyperactive pink alien girl in what was essentially a swimsuit.

"Hey Fen! Guess were teammates! Let's get along! Oh by the way are you and Nier dating? You seem awfully close!"

Suddenly pain erupted from my hands as my clenched fists dislocated my thumbs.

'Is it really worth it?'

(an: Hello there, welcome back… it's been a while huh… I don't really have an excuse this time… no sickness, no real super busy times, no major injuries, I kinda just… you know… shut down for a while… I read a lot of books, quite a lot… 11 novels in the last week alone if you believe me, didn't get a lot of sleep cause of that, and kinda, just, did nothing else… I saw that you guys were getting impatient… got a lot of comments asking for chapters… so well… here you go I guess?
