2 CHAPTER TWO: Traitors

"Hit... strike...defend" the harsh words of my father resonated around my head like a cloud of doubt as Lady Selandra struck out with her sword . "Doubt kills and then your enemy wins Aellia" he would murmur after I would fall to the ground in defeat, dirt all over my body.

My reason to hate him had been renewed everyday. Twice a day, under the same cave near their home, he would teach her how to fight, how to strike a sword and everyday I would crumple to the ground in exhaustion and tears, questioning why he couldn't let me be.

" Cruel Sword". Those would've been the exact words he would have used to describe Selandra sword if he were still alive.

Pushing back the memories, Aellia Guided Selandra hand over her head, Stalling to quickly bring out a small blade which she kept strapped above her ankle. it was a backup plan.

Doubling over her, Aellia's blade swung above Selandra's shoulder just as her sword connected with her arm, tearing.

Sucking in a quick breath to dull the sharp pain, She felt her wrist go limp as the blade clattered to the ground and Selandra raised her sword above her head ready to strike down.

Using her rod to hold herself up, in defeat , helplessness crawled in as she looked above and locked eyes with Selandra.

She was...

"Don't" Amelia yelled out from behind me, throwing a bottle of liquid over my shoulder which hit Selandra in the face.

Selandra screeched out in terror, dropping her sword to claw at her face as she hit the ground. " I will kill you" she swore.

Aellia's rod dropped from her hand as trinkles of blood dropped slowly on the ground. Turning to stare at Amelia who stood, smiling at her, she'd never felt so glad Amelia hadn't run away like before only to be found on foreboding days.

She had been wrong.

"You've finally realized that I am indeed a good soul Aellia" Amelia spoke looking back to Selandra who laid on the ground, sword cast aside. " But we just committed treason and are now traitors of the kingdom".

"I don't think anyone knows the laws of the kingdom" Aellia replied, tearing a piece of her cloth to wrap around her arm. "We've done nothing more than prove them wrong"

Glancing at the sky which was getting a shade darker, Aellia took a step back and stared at Lady Selandra who had stopped wiping her face a few seconds ago.

Whatever had been in the bottle was meant to be a distraction while they got away but why they were still standing here, Aellia couldn't fathom.

It wasnt that uncanny when both she and Amelia looked up the same time thunder rumbled above.

They needed to find shelter.

Hearing the shouts of the palace guards coming from behind Selandra she knew they couldn't go the way they'd come, they could risk it but she wouldn't anyway. She had found what she was looking for in Serrenia.

Aellia picked up her rod with her right hand and swung it over her shoulder, into it's handle. The outer was the only way now, unless they wanted death.

Locking eyes with Selandra she took a good look at the woman who was avidly the most powerful person in the kingdom. She was going to kill her the next time around Aellia swore before turning away towards the outer fields.

"Let's go through the water fall, it's quicker that way" Amelia muttered after they had waked awhile away from the ruins. The storm was yet to be over but Aellia could feel the rumbling in her cores

Briefly exchanging a look with Amelia, She exhaled before addressing her " Why are you still here?" Aellia asked " Why didn't you run awaythe first time"

No answer came from Amelia who suddenly threw out her hand to guide me past the giant stone blocking our path.

She seemed suspicious, the old Amelia I knew would be gone by now

If there was anything one would notice about Amelia, it was her ability to get out of distasteful places quickly with ease. When the palace guard had yelled above our heads, she hadn't blinked before she was jumping over the wall.

"I don't know" She finally replied " But why isn't Selandra coming after us"

Something woozed past Aellia ears, striking the lone figure as he stumbled backwards.

We all froze as the stick pierced through his shoulder blade.

Selandra walked towards us, fire in her gaze " Run away while you still can Sev, it's not too late to keep your dignity this time".

Pulling the stick out from his shoulder, Sev glanced up, a smile coating his lips as he stared at Lady Selandra.

" You've learnt Well Andra, if only you didn't bring pawns to this party" Sev smirked rushing up to Selandra who quickly whipped out her sword.

The clang of the two swords were enough to shock Aellia out of her state.

In a few minutes, the sun was going down and they would be stuck here till daybreak unless someone put a stop to the fight which seemed to be a recontest.

"A kingdom with Traitors as rulers isn't one that should stand" Sev said as Selandra sword shattered, the remains fleeing to the ground.

Selandra quickly kneeled, her neck falling as sev Sword edged on the tip of her neck.

"The trial of the king's wasn't honest"

"I know" She murmured raising her hand to release the tie around her head.

Honor in a warriors death.

"Your death pays me no grace because as there was no period I never thought about killing you, I know you Andra".
