11 CHAPTER 11: ARE YOU IN DANGER?

Immediately, I strode over to him, and a group of men in suits whom I recognized as major business men, and stakeholders.

"Jafar, pleasant evening to you" I nodded my head at everyone else standing there.

"You are right on time Prince Bassam. Let me introduce you to some of my associates" he said with so much enthusiasm.

"This is Mr. Haksan, the director of my petroleum corporation, and this is Mr. Yousef; the CEO of Global Tel co., Mr. Al-Hassan the director of IG group, and finally Mr. Ahmed; the CEO of galaxy motors" We all exchanged pleasantries, and got along pretty well.

We engaged in several discussions, then it suddenly dawned on me while Mr. Ahmed was talking about his expansion plans to africa and north america, that Essi was no longer beside me. In fact she hadn't been beside me for quite a while now. How could I have missed this.

I scanned the area, but she was nowhere to be found. I quickly excused myself politely, and left to go look around the vicinity for her.

There were so many people here, but hopefully I would find her. I checked the dining area, the garden. I kept checking everywhere like a man high on steroids. I was just about to give up, maybe she doesn't want to be found, it's probably one of her pranks, she'll surface when she wants to.

But I decided to try checking the restroom area first.

As I reached there I spotted her in a distance with some guy. Anger immediately rose up in me, and I instinctively clenched my fist. Who was this guy, and why would he be holding, and talking to Essi.

"Jessica is that you" I called out to alert them of my presence. I took long strides, and in no time I was beside the guy.

"The lady is clearly not interested in whatever the hell you have to say. So please let go of her, and back off nicely" He looked at me with a who-the-hell-is-this-guy expression, but all of a sudden, realization of who I was hit him, and he humbly let go of her, and backed away.

As soon as he backed away, I could feel Essi squinting her eyes in my direction, and before I could even tell what was happening, she rushed towards me, and engulfed me in a hug. I could tell she was exhausted from the way her arms loosely held on to my sides.

"I'm glad you're here Sam. I don't know what happened, I think I drank something, but I don't feel so good." She said in a low voice almost akin to a whisper.

I felt so pained for her, all of this happened because of me, I'm the one that dragged her to an unfamiliar place, and left her to wonder.

"Don't worry I'll get you home, and call a doctor to come check you"

I didn't even give her the chance to reply, before I pulled out my phone, and immediately called my driver "Get the car ready, my guest is not feeling too well." I hung up the call in a hurry.

I wanted to lift her up, and carry her bridal style, but imagine the kind of scandal that would cause. So instead, I opted for the option of holding her to my side with my arms, and dragging her along, since she could still walk pretty well.

I led Essi away into the hall of the event. I could feel a few gazes on me, but I wasn't bothered by them. They were probably just looking for a new hot topic to gossip about. Besides right now, getting Essi to safety was the only thing that mattered.

She clung unto me tightly, and I kept leading her until we were outside. The driver was already waiting for us at the front yard. Soon as I got to the car, I detached myself from essi, who looked even weaker than before. I gently put her inside the car, I was about to enter myself when my phone rang. I looked at the caller's ID.

It was Jafar. I contemplated answering for a few seconds, before I reluctantly slide my hand across the screen, and answered the call. Jafar wouldn't call me if It was something unimportant.

"I've been looking around for you Bassam. The investor from Japan is here, and he wants to meet with you now."

I sighed exhaustedly, and ran my hand through my hair. I noticed Essi's eyes lazily followed my gesture.

"Does it have to be right now? I'm in some sort of an emergency, can't we postpone this or something?" I replied him in hopes that, there was something that could be done.

"I'm sorry but you also need to be here now, or we would lose this investment. And you know what losing this investment could cost us." I had no choice but to agree. He was right, it would cost us millions of dollars if we lost this contract.

"Alright, give me some minutes, I'll be there shortly." I dropped the call, and turned to Essi. Before I could even say a word, she had already began speaking. "You should go, I know you're worried, I may cause troubles, but I'll behave. So please don't let me stop you" I smiled at her statement, sure this little creature could cause troubles way bigger than her. But that was hardly why I was worried. Why am I even so worried again?

"Alright" I nodded towards her and instructed the driver to call the home doctor for her before regrettably leaving.

I Instructed the driver to make sure he contacts me when they arrive the palace, and I made sure I waited until they drove off before entering. I wasn't taking any chances. Since I was the one that brought her here in the first place, the least I could do was make sure she left safely. I'm sure waiting a few more minutes wouldn't cost me the investment.
