13 13. I'LL WORK TILL I DROP
Ji-woo woke up surprised to see her daughter. She looked at her with tears and sorrow. Taner hugged her tightly understanding what she was trying to say.
"Yo…..ur....dad....he". before she could finish her sentence, she collapsed.
"MOM!!! SOMEBODY HELP!! MOM". She screamed desperately alerting doctor Su who ran inside immediately with some nurses taking Ji-woo to another ward. She followed them scared.
After thirty minutes, Su woobin came out of the room. He saw her waiting for him impatiently looking very pale. She was still dripping wet and looked haggard. He felt disheartened just staring at her an doesn't know how to tell her the bad news.
She saw him and immediately went to him. Before she could ask anything, he gestured for her to follow him to his office.
Immediately they entered his office, he took off his lab coat and hung it behind his chair before taking his seat.
"Your mom will be fine, she was just dehydrated, extremely tired and stressed out, her body couldn't take it anymore so she passed out. I gave her some supplement that will help her so it will take a while before she wakes". He decided to start with the easy one.
"What happened to my dad?"
He hesitated, thinking about how he was going to tell her the heartbreaking news.
"Please tell me, I need to know".
He looked at her sadly before deciding to just tell her. "Your dad has cancer but it's stage 2 so we can operate him to remove it successfully but we need at least down payment to start".
"How much is the money?" he kept quiet as he stared at her.
"Just freaking tell me already! Be professional and tell me!"
Su woobin looked at her sadly, he didn't know how to say it. He really pities this young girl, she has been through a lot at her age when she should be enjoying her youth, having fun and dating, but here she was, more matured than her age.
"Twenty million pound".
On hearing this, she became very sad and asked shakily, "How long does he have before it becomes worst?"
"five months before it enters stage three if he keeps taking his treatment but we need to operate him, if it was left to me I would've done it …but the hospital has rules I must follow".
She sat weakly on the chair, she looked at him trying her best to hold back her tears.
"Please can you do me a favor?"
"If it is within my power I'll do it".
"Does my mom know about my dad condition?"
"No".
"Then please don't tell her, at least for now, if she knows I'm afraid she cant take the news and it may affect her greatly, I'll definitely bring the money".
He looked her surprised by her request, "How are you going to get the money?"
"I'LL WORK TILL I DROP". She replied determined. "Don't worry, I wont do anything illegal". She smiled a bit before getting up , she bowed and left politely without waiting for his reply.
Su woobin just sat there watching her. For the first time, he saw pain in those beautiful violet eyes. He decided to go home and was to leave when he heard a knock and without waiting for his response the person entered.
"You know you should wait for a response before you enter". Doctor Su smiled happily on seeing his nephew.
"Now where's the fun in that, you obviously should know I don't wait for a reply". He replied smugly as he sat on a chair confidently and comfortably.
"Stubborn as always I see, hope you came back with a beautiful maiden". He teased him and regretted immediately.
"You know you are getting too old for such, I should be the one asking you".
"Hey! Who are you calling old I'm only thirty three". He forgot this brat has a glib tongue.
"And still single, I'm starting to think you are the asexual one and not me". He replied placing his hand on the armrest n crossing his legs. He was really enjoying teasing his uncle.
"Hey! Brat!". He screamed almost leaping from his seat.
"I think you should stop shouting now we don't want you getting a heart attack now, do we?". Jiseok laughed and sat down staring at his uncle.
Su woobin knew he wouldn't be able to win against this little devil. He wondered why everyone especially the media portray him as an amazing person when he was the most annoying kid he has ever seen especially with his bad-mouth.
"How's your dad?"
"I don't know and I don't care". Jiseok replied with a changed expression.
"You know it's not his fault and your mom would want you to forget the past and move on with your life". Su woobin said sadly remembering his sister.
She was the most generous and pure person he has ever seen, she has a heart of gold and always see good in everyone. She was the total opposite of Kim Taemin. Eun_Ae ( meaning grace with love), his twin sister, was just as her name. She was able to change Taemin into a wonderful man but as life would have it, happiness doesn't last.
Eun_Ae was kidnapped but Taemin refused to pay for ransom and she was killed before he could save her in front of Jiseok. Ever since then Jiseok hated and blamed his father. Taemin also lost himself and was back to being cold and indifferent to everyone. He was the one who had to raise Jiseok and Jiho ever since.
"Uncle Woo I've to go, I've an important meeting". Jiseok got up putting his hand in his pocket and was walking towards the door. He didn't like where the conversation was going and decided to leave before they entered a heated argument.
"Jiseok what will you do if your dad died without you reconciling with him, remember life is unpredictable I hope you can reconcile with him before it's too late, and I'm sure my sister would want that too".
At hearing this, Jiseok stopped in his track and thought for a moment before continuing and left the office. He stood outside thinking of what his uncle just said. He walked out of the hospital to his car, bought out his special brand of cigarettes and started smoking.
'I might as well hold the meeting', he thought as he bought out his phone and dialed his secretary number.
