6 Temple of the Goddess: Awakening part 2

Lucile thought that she must have misheard what the spirit had said and decided not to think too much about it but after she was called 'Goddess' continuously by the four spirits, she decided to start asking questions.

"Why do you keep calling me goddess?"Lucile asked.

"That's because...." the fire spirit trailed off as she realized that something was wrong. She looked at the water spirit and asked;

"Did you explain things to her?"

"No I forgot due to my excitement." the water spirit said feeling sorry for her mistake.

"It's alright. I'll explain things to her myself." the fire spirit said.

She explained things t the best of her ability. According to her, ever since the previous goddess died, there had been no one to take her place because none of the candidates came back alive from the test door which happened to be the door Lucile and her sister fell from. As she continued to explain to Lucile about what it meant for her to be the next goddess, they finally arrived at a small lake which was seemed like it was located in another realm as the waters were crystal clear and the air smelt refreshing. the view was breathtaking and the sun shone so brightly and elegantly on the waters.

Lucile swore that she had never seen anything more beautiful and calming at the same time.

"Where is this place?" Lucile asked.

"Your last test. The lake in front of you is filled with the five elements and their aura. It is the place where all the goddesses came to cleanse themselves before taking power." the wind spirit explained.

"Then why have you brought me here?"

"You are here because you are the next goddess and as such, you must cleanse yourself before the human eyes can see you." said a soft yet harsh voice.

"I am the fifth element, and I control thunder and lighting as well as judgment. In other words, I am your weapon as well as your shield. So my dear goddess, take your rightful place as the ruler of all living things and let this world become peaceful once again."

As the element finished talking, Lucile became fully aware of the position she was currently in. The fate of the whole world now rested in her shoulders. The power people wanted so desperately that four major schools were built just to train people for but she who had no interest in it had suddenly become the goddess. All she wanted to do was escape the people that wanted to harm her sister and herself. All she wanted was to protect the light in her life even if she knew that after the last trip home, she would never set eyes on her sister again. The family elders were going to put her in one of the four schools because her sister had been born with a great amount of magic in her.

'If I take up this role, I would not only get to remain with my sister but also save the countless number of children who were going to take the goddess test in two years. As much as I want to refuse this, I love my sister and do not want to be separated away from her.' As she thought about it time and time again, she finally made the decision. As long as I can protect my sister and prevent the death of many future generations, I would take the responsibility that has been given to me.

"I accept my role as the goddess and vow to protect those below me and rule with fairness and honesty."

As soon as she said those words, the spirits undressed her and dressed her in a white silk robe. They untied her hair and allowed it to fall. Her dark hair was at waist length but it was silky and beautiful like midnight. Two of the spirits then escorted her towards the direction of the stream but stopped and allowed her to continue on her own. As soon as she was totally submerged in the water, a blinding light followed and the elements were down on their knees. While on the outside, the deserted temple area began to clear up as it began to return to its former glory and a dazzling light shot down from the sky into the temple. As the people saw this, they all subconsciously fell to their knees.

As the light in the lake began to die down, a figure could be seen coming out of the water in a graceful manner. Her skin, as sublime as the most exquisite jade and her hair as with as snow and so long that it was almost touching her foot.

"Dear Goddess, your humble servants welcome you." the spirits said in union.

"Rise."
