1 The Cat and the Firefly

It was a dark night with only the light of the stars and the moon in the sky. A field of yellow flowers filled the land. The air was fresh. The breeze was gentle. There, sat a cat. A small black cat. The cat laid on the field with sleepy eyes. Blue eyes. The cat stretched in a bed of flowers. The cat shed a tear. "What's wrong?" She heard a small voice. The voice was so innocent, so quiet. She looked up and saw the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. A light to brighten the darkness.

A firefly.

Her eyes grew big as she stared at the tiny firefly. "Who are you?" The cat was a curious one.

"I'm Firefly." The firefly smiled. 'She's adorable...' The cat thought.

"Are you okay?" She asked again.

"I don't know yet." The cat replied.

"Oh..." The firefly had sorrowful eyes.

The cat could see that she was sad. "Are you okay?" She whispered.

"I don't think I am..." She could barley hold back her tears.

"What's wrong?"

"It's just that.." She sighed. "I'm so small. I want to be bigger, like you. I'm smaller then everyone. It's like I'm invisible. You are beautiful and I.. well I'm not. How can I be noticed when I look like this? I'm alone and that's how it always will be." The firefly explained.

The cat stood up. "You are not invisible. You help me see in the dark. You lead me to the light! I need you... You are perfect. You shine brighter then anyone I've ever met. You aren't beautiful like me, you are so much more then that! And you won't be alone, because you have me. I will protect you. I will heal all your wounds. Even if you are tiny, it's adorable and hugs will be so much better. I know I just met you.. but I know I love you. Forever and always..." She stated. She wasn't sure what else to say. She only spoke the truth. She spoke everything her heart sang.

"Really?" The firefly spoke in a soft voice.

"Yes. I might have fell in love with you the moment I saw you..."

"I love you too. I love you more then anything." She paused. "So are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay now." The cat smiled.

"What changed?"

"You." The cat answered.

The firefly leaned in and gently planted a kiss on the cat's nose. So sweet and soft. In just a moment the little firefly sat on the cat's shoulder. Finally they weren't alone anymore. They had each other. I guess you could say it was love at first sight.

Forever and Always...
