Unconventional Rejection

“When the pictures and text messages appeared as evidence, my heart cringed-I-mean-ached. … So spare me my emotions.” With a small slip of the tongue, it was now obvious that all of those words did not come from her heart. She did not love him at all, not now, not before, and most likely-- not in the future. With this reply to his confession, how can he reply? Has this line been used in any typical romantic comedy? How can the jerk...ahem...playboy chase after her now? It will take throwing aside all shame and face (pride and literal face) to chase her after such a rejection.
