Hidden Enemies And Underhanded Means

Theo seeing as the rogur holds an advantage in close combat due to him having actual training in it, he decided to make sure the slippery rogue could not press on.

I once again ignore the pain and cast illusions around me, all while reading the supeficial thoughts of my opponent, thankfully he isn't one of those crazy assassins with the ability to maintain their thoughts hidden in the subcouncious because of some hardcore training.

Seeing he wanting to go to the right I went to the left, around 4 images of me scattered in diferent directions, and just as he was hitting air he saw the other 3 images rushing in.

Once again taking advantage of reading his mind I attack where he is going to dodge, but I do not aim for a vital point... I still had too many questions to make to this fellow before letting his soul to the next world.

The next thing he saw was his wrists being broken and a hand holding him by the throat before being knocked out.

Rejoining with Selia and making sure to heal her and tie the rogue real well, I took a break to resting my spirit, who was somewhat damaged after this night's fight, I grew once more my desire to get stronger, knowing that much fiercer battles were ahead I had to succeed in unlocking my system and growing strong. During the times of the Third War the world would be turned upside down and if one didn't want to die and come back as a pile of walking bones they had to either flee or win.

I decided on the winning part, as it seemed that it would feel much more rewarding, I was not afraid of death, after all I experienced it once, my biggest fear would be to lose myself and my friends, I had in my past life learned to cherish those close to me. (New prelude chapter at volume 0 if you didn't read yet).

After an hour of resting an making sure I was able to think properly without wanting to dig my brain out due to pain, I went to "attend" to our guest.

The man was a rough looking, well fit human, slightly tan and with a face full of scars, it looked like pain won't make him talk much, good thing I was learning mind magic, as long as I provide the cues he will fill it without knowing.

Seeing the chief rogue tied up and awake, I decided to start the interrogation, since even when going through my memories, I don't remember who in Dalaran would be so brazen to try and do something to us... the identity of our enemy was clearly not simple, he sent a group of mages and trained rogues after us who would have such backing in Dalaran? most likely atleast an archmage.

"You are up little punk? Let's start our little game shall we? If you lie I break a bone, can either do it the easy way or the hard way... If you loose your tongue a little I can set you free, but only if you cooperate." As much as that sounded either a lie to my guest or outright naive on my part if true, I was actually looking forward to get some connections with the place this rogue came from, afterall I doubted he belonged to the Dalaran big shot, most likely he was a hired from some underground organization, people with information dealing could always prove handy.

"Start my telling me who's your client and why he sent such a party to chase us."

As soon as I asked such he remembered that his client was the one who contacted him, but rather the mage leader Selia confronted, but atleast I got the information of the mage leader, before taking the contract a good assassin would always investigate his client to make sure to not get oneself on the losing end of the stick.

The guy who hired the rogues was actually known in Dalaran and had a pretty shady reputation already, and if not for most likely someone covering up for him, he would already been either executed or exiled. From orc trafficking, black market of organs for experiment and a long list of miss deeds, the guy definitely had someone on the Council, most likely one of the two members that are unknown to me.

As soon as I found out that the client was in the Council of Six, it became easy to find the reason, they wanted to kidnap us and make us their underlings, even if they had to use more "convincing" methods, Selia had already become a bit famous on our stay in Dalaran, what better to cement their position on the Council then to have the most talented disciple in Dalaran? A students prestige is also the master's prestige.

The rogue was quick to respond, he affirmed not knowing his client, only having met the intermediary, which was true...

"What organization are you under? Ravenholdt? Syndicate? I would let you free just to make peace with your faction if you tell me."

Soon his mind betrayed him, he was clearly from Ravenholdt, the famous League of Assassins, but it looked like the guy was leading a group of rookies, since their target was just high level apprentices they decided the mission did not require much.

"Very well, I will set you free after erasing some of your memories, you will still remember our talk and gist of my interrogation, if your people send someone after me again I will go looking for them." As soon as I said it and was ready to experiment with altering his memories, Selia by the side also made a question.

"How did you find us? we made sure we weren't being watched as we exited Dalaran, we also used invisibility as soon as we left, yet you still managed to track us." I decided to trust her and see where this was going, and as soon as he thief heard it he thought first abiut how Selia was beautiful, which made me want to wipe all memory he had of her, and how our bags and robes had tracking enchantment out into them.

After informing Selia of what she was looking for and if she could remove those enchantment, she retrieved the items and went into studying both the memory crystal with enchanting knowledge teacher gave her and the items that were tampered with.

Meanwhile I made sure this guy wouldn't remember Selia's face or the fact that we were dragons, not even how they were defeated would remain, it could afterall give our strengths away and put us into danger.

Only after checking and rechecking the rogue's mind did I make him unconscious again and leave him tied loosely to a tree. I sure he would be able to free himself.
