1 Ominous Sight

Night. Just as the sky darkened, while the whole of Verdies Shelter was just finishing up their day.

Verdies Shelter, Wilderness Section C-4

People could only live in walled-off areas, as the outside world is full of monsters and mysterious dangers. And at this moment, Three Soldiers were outside Verdies Shelter, putting the finishing touches on the wall.

"My god, we're finally finishing with this damn wall, I'm not suited to manual labour like this. I'm a mystic, why would they make me do this?", said the female soldier. She had a slim figure, long, wavy, red hair, and light brown skin, clearly damaged by sun exposure. Not much more could be seen, however, as she was clad in a clearly undamaged set of iron armor.

"Come on, Suri, we already said you don't have to join us, we know you don't want your precious skin damaged." This was said in a joking tone by a man with tan skin, wearing worn-out Iron armor, clearly full of dents and cracks, clearly, the biggest most muscular out of the three.

"Feroo you know damn well you'd be the first one complaining if I sat out, so don't sta--" Suri was responding to Feroo, but quickly got interrupted by the third soldier there. "You guys LOOK!" A man in with whitish but slightly red skin, with a well-toned even body, wearing a moderately damaged pair of iron armor was pointing towards the horizon.

"What is it, Mothly?" As they said that, they looked over in the direction Mothly was pointing at, and there was a corrupted beast like a lion, but twice the size. It's skin was hard and purple, and there was sharp white protrusions coming out from holes in the skin. The grass around it was slowly turning purple, as if getting corrupted, and it was rapidly heading towards the wall.

There were more of these heading towards other sections of the wall, but they were pretty far apart. They were, however heading towards the same direction, Verdies Shelter.

"Let me see." Suri quickly climbed up the wall and looked towards the horizon. The others moved out of the way, as they know that there is a reason for this. Suri, with her mystic ways, can view enemy health and defenses. "The hell!? This bastards body is tougher than magic silver!"

"WHAT!" the other two were instantly surprised.

After all, comparing magic silver to iron is like comparing iron to copper. And their weapons were only iron. This means it's skin is tougher than their weapons!

"For a fleshy body to be this strong….what the hell is this creature?"

"No time to think, Suri! Get ready for a fight!"

As Feroo said that, he jumped down directly into the path of the creature, and readied his sword into a defensive position. Suri jumped down and positioned herself behind Feroo, and took out her mystic staff, seemingly alive like a glowing plant. Mothly climbed the wall and drew out his Iron bow, with an arrow set on fire with ice flames, which he personally collected.

"REEEEEEEEE!" The monster roared loudly.

The monster was here.

In all actuality, their positioning was not wrong based on what they knew. However, viewing health and defenses doesn't mean they can see their strength.

The ground got pounded in 4cm deep as the monster leapt upwards and hopped over the 5m wall.

"AOooo!" Suri was drenched in cold sweat as she could feel the monsters eyes on her back.

Feroo launched himself forwards to protect Suri, but he was not past enough.

Mothly shot his arrow out and perfectly hit the target on one of its knees. However, the arrow merely bounced off, but the ice flames stuck to the monster and started to burn.

The monster ignored it, however, without even a roar.

"Suri NO!" Feroo screamed.

"You big fools underestimate me too much!"

"Conjuration!"

Suri waved her staff and summoned an odd, mushroom-like creature in front on her which rooted itself to the ground. The monster crashed into her creation, but instead of any actual physical forces coming to play, the charging monster was as if it met an incredible resistance, quickly stopping half-way inside the creation, which seemed more like a spirit at this moment.

"Illusion!" "Turn Real!"

A foggy, condensed spiritual mist was released from her staff and hit the monster, in which then turned real. The mist got absorbed into the monster. At this moment, the monster howled in pain; it was enraged. The creature could sense the danger the mist posed to it, as it had poisoned the creature.

At this moment, Suris' Conjuration disappeared back to whence it came. It only lasted for three seconds at most, but this gave Feroo more than enough time to get in the way of the monster, blocking the monsters path from Suri.

This entire time, Mothly had never stopped attacking the monsters knee. While the arrow may have only left scratches on its skin, the frost fire had weakened the area around it.

Feroo took the opportunity to strike first, and swung his sword towards the knee, flat side forwards. CLING! The odd sight was created where the sound of metal striking each other was heard, while Feroos sword swung towards the monsters fleshy knee. While it was hard to pierce the creatures skin, with the weakening created by Mothly's Frost fire, it wasn't nearly as hard to smash the area in.

The monster, which had originally swung it's head to bite, with the blow it just took, fell down to the ground.

"Annihilation!"

Suri launched a constant stream of ghostly spirit balls out of her staff, all of which landing square on the monster.

"I'm keeping this up till i'm out of mana, so attack with all you got!"

With one knee crippled, the monsters battle power was reduced by over 40%. The monster was enraged, and launched himself towards suri just like last time. However, this time, it was expected. Feroo jumped up himself, and sent his sword towards the creatures jaw, the creature promptly sent a claw towards Feroo, and closed its mouth. However, this was within expectations. Mothly sent an arrow to knock the claw away, and Feroo pried open the creatures mouth with the little bit of sword that got in. Mothly shot an arrow straight into the creatures insides, and it hit cleanly inside the mouth. The frost fire would be truly devastating to the internal organs, especially when it's weakened by Suris' mystic ways.

"ROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!" The roar almost hurt to hear; the pain from the fire burning it's insides could almost be felt through the roar. The trio promptly backed off, as the strength behind any monsters last, enraged attacks are always immense. The monster got up with much struggle, and fiercely glared at the trio. It stayed like that for a few seconds, and promptly fell down dead.

"Oh that was disappointing", muttered Feroo.

"Feroo, holy hell. That was dangerous enough, what exactly disappointed you here???"

"I mean I didn't get hit onc--" Feroo was Interrupted.

"What DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T GET HIT ONCE? Are you a masochist? Do you want to be hit?"

"You guys" Mothly interrupted, "There's no time for that, we need to-- OH GOD LOOK OVER THERE!"

Mothly pointed over in the direction of Verdies Shelter, Just in time for everyone to see the blurry figures of what pretty much consisted of a giant trapezoid smashing down at high speeds onto the shelter.

Before anyone could react, they saw a smaller trapezoid heading towards them at high speeds. As the trapezoid drew closer, it quickly could be seen, that this was, in fact, a slime.

Suris' eyes nearly bulged out.

"Ho, how has this big boss already seen us!?"

The other two looked at Suri strangely. What is a "big boss"?
