1 The Start of the Chain

Gently toweling off his dark red hair with the white towel around his shoulders, Uteu looked around his house suspiciously.

It was quiet.

Perhaps a little too quiet.

His dark grey eyes slowly looked around his living room as he closed the door to his bathroom with a soft click.

He took in the small crumbs on top of the cushions on his pale mint colored couch and oily smears on his medium sized flat screen television. He glanced down and spotted his remote control on the dark brown carpet to the left on the wooden coffee table.

"Hmm..." He hummed in amusement as he made his way towards his room and quietly opened the door.

Inside he spotted his younger brother and sister trying to hide under his queen sized bed with little success. Their dark red hair spilled out from underneath and stood out far too much against the carpet.

Uteu couldn't help but smile at the sight before him. His mischievous little siblings were just too adorable.

He lightly jumped onto his bed and grabbed his black and grey pillows as he heard the two yelps. As the two brats tried to run he pelted them gently with the pillows. Taking the two twins out.

"Alright you two, get your things ready. Dad will be here any minute now to pick you up."

Two dramatic groans met his ears like music. With an evil glint in his eyes, he laughed obnoxiously and ruthlessly attacked their exposed feet with his fingers. They guffawed and gasped for mercy.

"If you don't hurry up I'm going to keep tickling you!" He said as he thwarted their poor attempts to escape him.

"No more!!!" His sister begged.

"We give!! We give!!!" His brother gasped out.

His two siblings desperately tried to scramble away from him and he let them go easily.

He watched as they tidied up a few of his things and gathered their own articles and tossed them into their matching bags.

He truly did enjoy baby sitting the two little monsters this week. He rarely got to see his family anymore since he had moved out.

His two siblings had gorgeous green eyes that they had inherited from their father. Their noses had a sharper angle to them compared to his own. He lightly tapped his own nose. They would probably grow up to look startlingly like their father.

Uteu suddenly shuddered at the thought. He really hoped these two won't end up anything like their father. He wanted them to stay adorable and small forever.

"Big brother?" Uti and Ulo blinked up at him. He almost melted at their cute head tilt.

"I just had a bit of a scary thought, don't worry." He tried to reassure them.

Suddenly hearing a sharp doorbell sound, they all jumped a bit in surprise. Uteu could feel his cheeks burning. He still jumped at the sound of his own doorbell. He really needed to get it replaced to something gentler sounding.

Uti and Ulo quickly ran out into the living room and towards the door to put on their socks and shoes.

Uteu had a hand on the door knob as he grabbed their jackets off the coat rack. He corrected Uti when she attempted to put on her left shoe on her right foot before he opened the door all the way.

"-Came a bit earlier than expected."

He felt something thump against his stomach and quickly turned his head to look in surprise at the person behind the door.

A girl with dark bags under her eyes stared at him with wide eyes and a twisted smirk on her face. He couldn't tell if she looked happy or shocked.

He took notice of the frizzy black hair and unhealthy pale complexion she had. Her lips were forming something?

"Uteu~"

A burning feeling spread from his stomach and he heard something drip onto the floor. He looked down. His vision started to blur as he stared at all the bright red at his feet and the ornamental blade sticking out of his stomach.

Wasn't this type of blade normally just for decoration? How could it do any damage to him.

He could feel his mind derail. Was it from shock?

He heard a shriek from Uti from behind him. And he tried to turn around to... To comfort her?

He felt himself fall down as the strange girl shoved him. He felt several more sharp stabs and he cried out.

What was this? Who the hell?

He needed to do something. Call someone? Protect the twins!

"This is for you Uteu! I love you so so much! All for you!"

Who? Who the fuck is this crazy bitch?

He shoved her away and grasped at his stomach. The blade was stuck in his stomach again and he couldn't pull it out as he found his hands getting slippery. Uti was sobbing uncontrollably and Ulo was...

Where the hell was Ulo?

He stared in horror when he saw his little brother trying to hit the crazed girl, screaming at her.

Uteu couldn't find the strength to stand. He could do nothing as he watched helplessly. He couldn't get his legs to respond no matter how he moved them.

"U...lo.." Uteu tried to call out as he watched the bitch smack his little brother away. Ulo hit the wall and slumped down. Uti shrieked again. He felt a surge of anger at himself.

Why couldn't he move!?

A flash of red slamming into the crazy bitch was the last thing Uteu saw before his vision filled with black.

"Brother!!"

"Stay -- !!"

"Uteu, you -- me? Stay --!"

_________

"It has started. The Forging of the Chain is now underway."

"You will not be able to go back to your normal life. Many innocent people will be pulled in with you. Be cautious."

"You are now part of the Chain. Form your connections carefully."

_________

"Go fuck yourself, Grello."

"My, such language. You haven't spoken to me like this since we were teenagers."

"Fuck you. You told me my children wouldn't be involved, you God damned-"

"I said they were unlikely to be involved."

Uteu could hear a heavy smack and then a wheeze.

A gruff voice shakily said, "Uteu is all I have left of her, you should have warned me ahead of time!"

A grunt and a silky, smooth voice slowly replied, "Ouch. Well~ Tykol, I honestly didn't believe they'd choose Uteu of all your children."

Another heavy smack, "You asshole! You knew one of them would-"

A deranged laugh, "Yes! I was almost certain they'd choose your eldest, Undel. He was the most likely after all, with all that talent! The rest of your children showed no signs! Their chances of being chosen were near non-existent!"

The room fell silent. Then, Uteu heard what sounded like someone dusting off their clothes.

"Ah~ waking up are we? Dear Chained One?"

Slowly opening his eyes, Uteu let out a relieved sigh that the room wasn't at it's brightest. Someone had obviously closed the blinds and dimmed the lights for him. Breathing in, he could smell the sterile cleanliness of what he thought was a hospital.

Then his eyes went wide as he recalled-

Blood.

Pain.

Crazed eyes.

Screams.

His little brother and sister!

"Ulo and Uti?" He croaked. He grimaced at the dry itchy feeling in his throat.

His eyes darted around the room for any clues as to what could have happened to his siblings. He noted all the machinery by his bed side and the neat and tidy sheets covering him.

He briefly noted that none of the machinery was hooked to his person. He narrowed his eyes at the empty seats by his bed side on his right. Surly Ulo and Uti would have wanted to be here with him.

Feeling someone lift him gently, a straw was inserted into his mouth and he drank greedily. The cool water tasted almost sweet to him.

"They're fine~ won't remember a thing either." Uteu frowned at the strangely flamboyant man sitting on a chair to his left. He took in the man's slicked back dark brown hair and flamingo pink dress shirt with sparking rhinestones, covered by a dark black fur lined coat.

"What, don't believe me?" the stranger smirked but Uteu ignored him for a second to glance over to his side.

Uteu focused on the person holding him up, realizing it was his father. His father looked incredibly worried and unkempt. Red hair messy and clothes crumpled. Uteu isn't sure if he's ever seen his father look like this.

"Believe me Uteu, this guy is Grello and he might seem shady but he's telling the truth." His father said, gesturing to the other man. Tykol then paused and muttered, "This time anyways."

"Ulo and Uti are healthy and waiting for you." Tykol said with a shaky smile.

Gulping down the water, Uteu shifted his eyes over and asked, "Grello was it? What did you mean by Chained One?"

Directing a glare at the strange man he had never seen before, he watched as the man held up his arms to signify he meant no harm.

"I mean that's what you are now." Grello smiled gently. He had a look of curiosity as he stared at Uteu straight in the eyes.

Uteu could almost feel his father's death glare directed at this man.

Grello huffed in amusement and slight annoyance, "What, you don't plan to tell him anything?"

Now directing his glare at his father, Uteu tried to recall bits of the conversation he had heard.

"I have other siblings? Who's Undel?"

Tykol stiffened and turned away looking slightly uncomfortable. Uteu felt like this was so surreal. The strong, infallible image of his father felt like it was crumbling before his very eyes.

For the first time, Uteu felt like he didn't know his father at all.

"Ah well... You and Undel are the only two who are actually mine?"

Grello snickered at the reveal. Uteu was boggled by the statement.

"... What?"

"I mean... well I consider all of you mine!" His father looked a bit panicked and added, "Ulo and Uti especially! Definitely consider them as mine."

Uteu blinked and his mind shut down. He returned his attention to Grello who had his arms crossed and was now outright laughing.

"So... The whole Chained thing..."
