Chapter 52: System Leveling Up Update
After shaking hands, we went our separate ways, while Klaus went off to who knows where. I went off looking for the Mercenary Guild of Von.
'DING' [You have gained 6000 XP]
After hearing the system notification, I stopped in my tracks and then walked to a nearby alleyway and opened my Status and checked my XP. I now have 7008.5 XP out of 8000 XP needed to level up.
After seeing this, I checked my Hunter Sentries memories, and found that they were able to to find a herd of Rank 3 Low Beast Silver Apes and they killed a wandering Rank 2 Low Beast Two Horn Wolf that was nearby as well.
I don't know why my Sentries couldn't find a lot of beast, the information that I gathered from the Mercenary Guild was that there was a lot of beast in that forest.
In my last life, I did read that a lot of animals have a sixth sense that help them sense about approaching danger. In my last life, there has been documented evidence that showed animals running away from an area where an earthquake would occurred and an area where a volcano would erupted
I am guess that is what happened when I moved into the old Dwarf Fortress. Maybe the nearby beast sensed my arrival, and they sensed that I was very dangerous so they ran away, which would be why my Sentry Hunting Parties haven't killed a lot of beast and why I haven't been gaining a lot of XP.
I stopped looking through the Sentries memories and stopped thinking about my hypothesis. I walked back out of the alleyway and headed towards the Mercenary Guild.
After walking for 20 minutes, and asking for directions, I was able to find the Mercenary Guild of Von. I turned in the Job Completion Form to them and received my pay.
I went to the Job Board and found another Job Notice that would require me to go to the next city which was the City of Bona. I took the Job Notice and applied for it with the receptionist, and after that was complete I left to get rooms and then gather intel on this city.
I walked towards an Inn that was nearby and booked 5 rooms for us, and after that was done, we went our separate ways.
I headed towards the barracks that was near the City Lord's Castle.
Once I was near the barracks, I used my scans and heat vision to see inside the barracks. In these barracks there were 700 soldiers training and 1 Commander.
As I watch these soldiers train, I started scanning their power levels. All 700 of these soldiers are Rank 1 Low Disciple Warriors. and there Commander was a Rank 2 Low Disciple Warrior.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a man walking into the barracks with a teenage boy. The teenage boy didn't have any power but the man walking with the boy was a Rank 3 Disciple Magician.
I continued watching, and when the Commander notice the two, he bowed down on one knee, and so did the 700 soldiers. Seeing them bow, I can confirm that these two are the City Lord and his son.
I stopped scanning and head back to the Inn.
Once I was in my room at the Inn, I waited for my Sentries to finish their intel gathering.
After 20 minutes of waiting, the Sentries came back to the Inn, and they all went to their own rooms.
I started looking through the information that the Sentries have gathered. Patrolling the city were 150 soldiers, and on the city wall were 150 soldiers stationed.
After looking at all of the data, I confirm that the City of Von has 1,000 soldiers if you exclude the Village Militia in the surrounding villages which I estimate only have like 10 to 20 militiamen from previous spying on villages near me through the my HIVE Satellite.
So, the City of Zalos has a total of 700 soldiers and if you included the 5 villages in the surrounding, with 2 villages with 10 militiamen and the remaining 3 villages with 20 miltiamen, then the City of Zalos has a total of 780 military troops. Compared with the City of Von's military power with the surrounding 6 village militias included, then their military power was lacking.
I took out a map of this continent, which I bought this evening. As I inspect the map, I notice that the other two Kingdoms are to the east of the Howen Kingdom, which explains why the military power of the cities west of the Howen Kingdom is really lacking.
I theorized that all of the cities in the east side of the Howen Kingdom has a lot of military power considering they are facing towards the enemy Kingdoms and since the cities on the west side aren't facing any enemies which means they don't need a lot of military power.
'I really have to gather intel on the cities on the east side of the Kingdom' I thought to myself.
As I look closer to the map, I spotted a lot of forts aligned on the Howen Kingdom's borders facing the other two kingdoms. There were 8 forts, 4 forts facing each enemy kingdom. Parallel to these forts were the enemy kingdom's forts. These forts much has a lot of soldiers considering they are there to protect their borders from each other.

'Looks like my hunting parties have finally started being useful and found some XP for me' I thought happily
'Asus, level up my Magician Cultivation Rank' I commanded in my mind
'Ok, leveling up your Magician Cultivation Rank' said Asus

'Ding' [System Leveling Up Update: You are now a Rank 6 Intermediate Magician. If you wish to advance this Rank to Rank 7 Advanced Magician, you must kill 50 Rank 7 Advanced Magicians alongside with gaining a level up]
When I read the System Update, I was shocked and my jaw figuratively dropped to the floor.
'Asus, what is the meaning of this!' I screamed in my mind
"This is part of the leveling up system, to give you a challenge and not make your conquest of this world too easy.' stated Asus 'Each time you level up a Rank to a certain point, the difficulty to increase it will also increase. Once you become a Rank 7 Advanced Magician, you will need to kill 100 Rank 8 Mages.'
'Oh well' I thought to myself 'At least my conquest of this world and leveling up in this world will be more of challenge and will be able to entertain me. If it was too easy then this world would be too boring for me.'
