2 Chapter-2 : Being Noice to Myself

I opened my eyes as a bright light filled them.

It took a while before they adjusted to the light around and I could see clearly.

The sun was hanging directly atop me, I looked around and saw Air conditioning units around me along with many exhaust pipes.

I got up and looked around myself, I was on terrace of a building.

"That feeling is not good, I felt like being stretched like a noodle" I said as I looked around to see where I was.

"Guess I am in New York City after all" I sighed softly after seeing the Empire State Building from afar.

It was good as I lived in NYC before.

'System!!' I yelled in my mind to see if all I just experienced was a joke.

Nothing happened as I became anxious.

I tried calling out the system in quite a few ways but nothing happened.

Then suddenly it hit me, "Status!!"

I said as a screen appeared before my eyes.

[Abilities :

Copy (cards) : Able to duplicate abilities and skills of other people in form of cards. {Lvl-1}

To copy cards, you have to be in range of 1 meter of the target.

Can only use 10 cards at a time.

Copying time depends on level of the card and the ability.

Assimilate : A subsidiary ability of Copy (cards), Assimilate cards after a period of time. Assimilation time depends on on level of the card. {Lvl-10(max)}

World Travel : Can jump into any universe randomly.

Every world has a mission to complete, after completing, you can decide to stay jump into another World. ]

I smiled after seeing the screen really appear, and more so after seeing my abilities, they were pretty OP, but only if I use them correctly.

I imaginary pressed on [Missions] tab as a new page opened.

Guess I have to find that out too.

Now, to test out my powers, I had to find someone.

I found my way down the building into the streets, the NYC was bustling as always.

My power was awesome but its range was pretty low, only 1m for now, and getting that close to someone will definitely attract attention.

I would have to wait before using my powers on someone. And would have to look for a right place to use it.

And there was nothing better than the subways to get 'closer' to people.

I walked into the subways while trying to figure out which world I was in, I wasn't in some sci-fi world or some superhero world, cause there was nothing that defined that, and if there were, they were out of public sight.

Getting into the train, which was filled with people, I smiled, guess I can get a lot of skills today.

I opened he system as it showed an array of different cards around myself.

There were dozens of White colored cards that varied from cooking to driving.

And a couple of Yellow colored cards.

Description : ability to get from one point to another in a complex environment, without assistive equipment and in the fastest and most efficient way possible

Description : ability to easily navigate through programs and computer codes, being able to hack through normal to advanced firewalls without being noticed...

These were the only yellow colored cards, it seemed that each yellow card was some kind of masters in the respective field and could offer a nice job alone.

I pressed yes for both of them as the copying started. After five minutes there was [Ding!!] That chimed in my head notifying that I had acquired the cards.

The cards were saved in my storage slot which also had 10 empty spaces, out of which two were filled now.

I looked around and moved in the train to collect more cards.

After just two hours riding around NYC in subways, all my Active and Storage slots were full now.

Checking into a cheap hotel, I rested down and saw the haul I had collected today.

I learned many other things about my power today which were quite important.

First, Active and Storage slots were different. Storage slots, as the name suggested just stored the cards while Active cards gave the benefits immediately.

Only after putting the cards in Active slots do they show their effect.

Another thing that I can't remove cards from Active slots until they are assimilated, but that isn't the problem with Storage, I can discard any card whenever I want.

Assimilation of white cards will take almost a day while yellow cards will take almost a week.

But this process can be sped up if I actually perform the skill or ability.

Like with the Parkour, which I had moved to the Active slot. If I let the ability to assimilate itself naturally, it would take a whole week, but if I actually go and perform Parkour, the assimilation percentage would increase.

It made sense though.

Another thing that type of cards made much difference.

Like skill cards were totally different from ability cards.

While skill cards gave me the skill, ability cards gave me the power and strength.

Ability cards were much rarer, and most of them were white, like [Trained body] [Conditioned physique]

Knowledge cards were different all together, there application was depended upon skill you had, and were generally accompanied by a related skill with it, like [Software Engineer] was accompanied by white skill card [Fast Typing]

Skill cards too were accompanied by their related knowledge, like [Driving : cars], which was accompanied by [Vehicle knowledge : cars]

And I didn't have to separately copy these accompanied cards, they were like the default setting that with the main card.

Another main thing was that every card color seemingly had stages.

White and yellow cards were always of different brightness, even if they were of same category. Like some people had a much brighter white [Driving] card.

I had taken three white [Cooking] cards from three different people with different brightness, after the first card, the other two went to the first card and combined with it while increasing its brightness and it's assimilation time.

These were my observations from today using my powers.

The cards I collected today were :-

White cards :-

[Doctor : physician : dentist : psychiatrist]

These were the cards that I found today in the subway, the ones that had percentage in front of them were Active cards.

Only after all of the active cards are assimilated would I be able to learn new skill and abilities.

After taking a bath, I slept whole day as I was pretty tired, both physically and mentally.
