Chapter 36: Looming Danger

(AN: I didn't drop this. I was just busy reading novels and grinding my ass along with friends on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite once I figured out we can do co-op online...this is my way of escapism since college classes are nearing on the 31st.)

Ulquiorra and Wang Yang entered the doors to the supposed treasury. Wang Yang was very cautious as they entered while Ulquiorra used pesquisa in order to scout ahead. So far, Ulquiorra didn't sense anything in the treasury.

The treausury was huge though. It's size was akin to that of a football field. Still, as they walked in, they noticed that within this large space, it was strangely empty. It was so empty to the point that Tian Cai was making a fuss about it in Ulquiorra's mind.

"What happened?! Why is everything gone?! It was as if something came here and swept everything away to keep for themselves!" Tian Cai exclaimed.

Ulquiorra pondered for a bit, and asked Tian Cai.

"Are you truly certain that the mark on my hand is the only way to get inside this place?" Ulquiorra said.

"I'm sure that the mark is the only method for opening the gates! It's also impossible for them to tunnel through here as there are formations here for preventing that! The only main ways left for them to go here is to go through special methods or to brute force it! Still, the doors didn't show any sign of intrusion so it wasn't brute forced." Tian Cai replied.

"In short, someone came here through special methods." Ulquiorra said back.

"That...." Tian Cai said before turning quiet.

Ulquiorra already surmised that someone came here through special methods. In fact, he had two main guesses for the possible method used. The first one was using spatial methods just like how he was able to retrieve a certain human in the Dangai Precipice world by using a garganta to travel there in the past.

The second method was that the person had some sort of connection to something within here which allowed them to be able to utilize a special method. From what he learned so far, artifacts in the cultivation world were very peculiar, and could have interesting functions just like the pearl he had on him. Ulquiorra saw that there was nothing left in the chamber, and even asked Tian Cai as he was confirming it. He decided it was time to leave this place.

The two went out of the chamber. They decided to search the realm for other resources. There wasn't anything else that was noteworthy. Suddenly, they arrived at a ghastly scene.

"What.....happened here? Who could've caused this?" Wang Yang said with a frown.

Ulquiorra looked at the dried up and mummified corpses in front of them. From what the corpses were wearing, it seemed that they were disciples of the Serene Sect, that had their life and blood sucked out of them.This spelled danger. Ulquiorra then heard Tian Cai's voice that was filled disbelief.

"I....No! It can't be! This is preposterous!" Tian Cai exclaimed.

Ulquiorra figured that Tian Cai might have already figured out what caused this. He didn't pester Tian Cai as he awaited an explanation. After a few seconds, Tian Cai seemed to have been able to regain his composure as he assumed a serious tone.

"This is something I am very familiar with. In fact, this was seen during the conflict that caused the fall of our sect. This method, only demonic cultivators like the Grand Demon Hegemony sect could be the culprits!" Tian Cai said.

"I see." Ulquiorra muttered before gripping Wang Yang's sleeve.

"Hmm? What is it? Are you feeling afraid? This isn't lik-" Wang Yang said before being pulled by Ulquiorra.

Ulquiorra took away Wang Yang, and used sonido to move. He asked Tian Cai if the portals to get out of here were open. Luckily, they still were.

On the other hand, Wang Yang tried his best as he gripped Ulquiorra's arm with both his hands. He didn't want his sleeves torn nor did he did we wish for his robes to be pulled away. Wang Yang closed his eyes as they travelled extremely great speeds. Still, he didn't feel uncomfortable. It seemed that Ulquiorra mastered this technique of his to a great degree. Finally, they reached the portal outside. Ulquiorra and Wang Yang stepped into the portal, and as they stepped out, they were back in the past area where they stepped in.

Looking around, they realised that nobody was left here. Ulquiorra used pesquisa, but discovered that no cultivators were near them. In fact, the area around them was pretty much devoid of even beast life.

"Master isn't here." Wang Yang said.

"There is nobody around our area." Ulquiorra said emotionlessly.

Wang Yang didn't question how Ulquiorra knew.

"Should we go back to Rising Dawn city?" Wang Yang asked.

Ulquiorra didn't reply as he took Wang Yang, and used sonido once more. They traveled back to the city at a rapid pace. Along the way, Ulquiorra used pesquisa to search for Nian Zhen, but to no avail. They went directly to Vast Moon sect. Luckily, they found Nian Zhen unharmed within their building quarters.

"Oh? You guys are back!" Nian Zhen exclaimed.

"Master! Where have you been?" Wang Yang said worriedly.

"There was a disciple that went to the portal area a few days ago. They said that there was something important that the sect master had to announce soon that needed my presence. I came back here whilst having another elder take my place. Did you not see them?" Nian Zhen said.

"No! The area was empty with nobody near." Wang Yang said.

Nian Zhen frowned.

"That is indeed a problem..." Nian Zhen said.

The three pondered in the sect about what happening. Meanwhile, in the grand flow sect, Ling Tian was in front of the sect leader. Rather, it was better to say that the sect leader was in front of Ling Tian.

"Greetings to Ancestor!" The sect leader greeted to Ling Tian.

Ling Tian waved his hand at the sect leader.

"Things have been going well. My strength has broke past the foundation stage, and I breezed through up to the peak stage of the Golden core realm. This is all thanks to the altar and my prolonged accumulation. I could also give thanks to the treasures those at the Heavenly Dragon sect kept. Those fools didn't even consider that the altar had connections to the other artifacts in their treasury. I was able to teleport in thanks to it. Truly a good harvest." Ling Tian said as he leaned back on the sect leader's seat and rested his face on his hand.

"Glory to the Ancestor! Glory to the Grand Demon Hegemony!" The sect leader exclaimed as he bowed down even more.

Ling Tian smiled. His next step was to brak through to the nascent soul realm, but that should not be hard. He still had some of the treasures and resources left from the treasury. As long as he absorbed enough Golden Core realm cultivators, then he would be able to break through directly to the seventh stage of Nascent Soul realm. His cultivation technique and the altar would also aid him in doing so.

"I guess that it's time to move out once more. I'll be paying a visit to some of the nearby sects." Ling Tian said as he moved out. His robes fluttered slightly as he moved. His qi slightly seeping out due to his concealed excitement and bloodlust.

The slaughter of the other sects were about to begin.
