1 CRIMES OF LILYWOOD

It was a Monday morning, the birds were chipping and my dog was barking. I on the other hand couldn't sleep because of his stupid barking. Hello there, my name is Aileen and my life it's kinda crazy. Just kidding, my life is what I can call a Mystery.

I'm just your average 15-year-old girl, but I'm not like some dream girl with a good happy family, no way. I'm the total opposite, I live in an orphanage. I know right, you must have thought that living in an orphanage is a blessing, "no parents to make you sleep early, sleepovers with your friend who lives next door, returning late at night after partying" but no, you see as an orphan we are not allowed to interact with each other. Why? You may ask, our demon headmistress who lives across the hall creates these dumb rules, she thinks that if we do not get to interact, it will be easier for us to respect each other, oh and by the way, she loves dogs, that is why she makes us keep dogs. Hey! I'm not an animal lover, but don't take me as a bad person, I do have my reasons. She hates everyone except the dogs of course. She makes everyone eat porridge every day for the rest of our orphan lives.

I indeed hate her, not only because of the food but because of the way she treats everyone, firstly she makes us sleep on the floor without any blanket to warm us up. Hey! I'm not writing this novel just to complain all about my life, ok, but if I would it would probably take approximately 100 novels. So I go to lily wood high school, trust me when you enter, you'll feel like taking a visit to hell, no, it's more than hell.

Everyone throws rubbish everywhere, you can see ketchup marks on the walls, rats and cockroaches taking a walk across the hallway, dumb jocks vandalizing the lockers, everyone is running around and your principal comes out of his dirty office with his son holding a half-eaten stinky cheese sandwich, not forgetting the slime in his nose starts to drizzle on top of the sandwich. Eww, I would punch my brothers face if he was like that, but luckily I didn't have a brother. Ok, to shorten the story of the school, twelve people died last year, it was so sad, but who cares, all I could say was "good for them", they were so annoying, but something wasn't right, you see, all the people who died were killed each month, for example, the first one died in January first, the second one died in February second and it went on like that until the last case of murder in December twelve last year.

The police arrested the killer because he was seen at the crime scenes ten minutes before every murder except for the murder in December, since he was already taken in by the police on November eighteen last year. We all had questions at the back of our heads "if the murderer was taken in in November, then who murdered the person who died in December twelve"? Every clue was scrambled up.

But the good news was, the murder stopped this year. Deep down in me, I knew that the killer was still on the loose, and I had to be the detective, besides, how else can be famous. Oh, and by the way, the real reason why I wanted to become famous was that everyone in the orphanage had family dying to take them home. But I didn't have any, so I planned to get famous, be on the cover for the newspaper and wait until a family comes to adopt me. So I started my plan, I will gather up all the clues and information that some of the witnesses found at the scene. I knew that I was into something bigger and fishy, besides, any normal person could know that the killer was up to something. After all, the man who was taken in by the police was a maniac, a psychopath and a beggar, he was questioned but he said he was not in town when all of these crimes were committed, he kept mentioning a place called THE SAFE HAVEN.

I also had gathered up all the information that the witnesses know. The lunch lady witnessed the murder that took place in January, April, July and October. The janitor witnessed the murder that took place in February, May, August, November, no one witnessed the murder that occurred in March, June, September and December. As one of the most talkative children in the whole town, I can easily extract information from their tiny brains. so, my first mission was to make the lunch lady tell me everything, well since the janitor and the lunch lady were are suspects, they were asked to remain at home where they will be monitored by the police.
