28 Mother and daughter meeting in the rain

A drop of water landed on Bai Yue's eyelashes, clinging to the fine hair and making it quiver. It was soon followed by countless others that slid down toward her eyelids. The sky turned dark and a light drizzle started falling down steadily, startling Bai Yue awake.

"Ugh!" Confused, she opened her eyes and raised one arm in front of her face to protect herself from the rain. Her clothes were soaked already and the coarse fabric clung to her body uncomfortably. She sat up and her brows knitted together at the throbbing pain coming from the side of her neck and the back of her head. Adding to that the wound on her hand, Bai Yue was now convinced that karma was a greedy whore. One for whom she couldn't afford the payment.
