Chapter 72: The Queen and Her Pawn

(Two days after the Riverian's victory)

Queen Ola threw away the message stone after reading it for the seventh time in anger she has been pondering on it, wondering why Erica was still alive.

"You must be happy sister that your daughter is alive, you are never going to stop hunting me one way or the other" the queen angrily said

" I wonder why the sea-witch couldn't take care of her out there? Am already suffering from the failure of my plan ever since that crown outsmarted me" The queen said to herself as she swims around her chamber.

" Your majesty, a messenger had come for you" the Merguard standing guard interrupted her thoughts

" A messenger?" The queen asked

" She will be escorting you back to the palace" the Merguard said again.

The Queen swims out of her chamber to see who the messenger was...

" Your majesty the great queen, the princess had asked me to escort you back to Riveria" Erica said with a bow

Queen Ola raised her eyebrows in shock at the presence of Erica; she never expected her daughter to send Erica of all the warriors at Riveria to come escort her.

Erica raised her head looking straight into the Queen's eye without blinking, looking at the great ruler she has always looked up to; the very first mermaid that made her feel she belongs somewhere and gave her the warmth of a family, she would even die for her. Words can't express how angry she was especially hearing from the princess that the Queen has lost her memory.

" Why hasn't the princess come to take me? I am unfamiliar with you" Queen Ola said pretending she doesn't recognize Erica

Erica slightly blinked her eye as she tries as much as possible to hide her anger.

" You might not have remembered me but I am your most trusted warrior who you had sent for a mission" Erica said

" Oh really? It's a pity that I can't remember it, was the mission a success?" Queen Ola asked her

" It was a success; I killed the traitor who had been causing chaos everywhere they go including the sea witch who had left the sea to cause trouble" Erica told her

The queen slightly looked away when she had said it " I guess she still doesn't know anything" she thought to herself

" Let's go, we should leave early to avoid being attacked again" the queen said

Erica bowed down to her as she leads the way.

( The city)

Oma knocked on the door hoping her mother opens the door this time as she has locked herself inside her room refusing to eat, she still won't open the door for her and ignored her just like in the morning.

Oma inhaled and exhaled as she squats close to the door

" I might not have shown it to you and dad, I might have said this late but I am going to say it anyway because you deserve to know;

I was the happiest when you and dad adopted me, I had never for once regretted being your daughter, it's so sad that just when I wanted to share the good news of getting accepted into the university to you and dad, this happened.

You can blame me for everything, I will accept the blame on me as long as it makes you happy again, just don't ignore me and starve yourself" Oma cried.

After some minutes of silence, her mother opened the door 

"She didn't do it right? Erica" Her mother asked

"No, she didn't; she just happened to be there just like dad" Oma said 

"Good, my good wills were not wasted" Oma's mum said 

Oma found herself laughing "You are always worried about the goodies in people" she said.

"You got accepted?" Her mum asked

"Yes, i received a letter yesterday from the university" Oma said

"Come here" her mother said spreading her arms to her. Oma embraced her warmly having a smile on her face.

AT NIGHT... THE RIVERIA BOUNDARY'S SEPERATING THE DEEP SEA...

Erica had escorted the queen alone in secret as ordered by the princess, no other siren knew about their journey apart from the royalties. this was to avoid the enemies knowing their movement.

They have been in silence for the past hours as the queen who had disguised herself as a mere mermaid swim in between the sirens. they got to the lonely part of the sea with the queen feeding herself with jelly drink she had brought with her.

Erica suddenly draws out her weapon and waved it closer to the queen's neck scaring her as it was unexpected.

"You dare point a sword at the queen?"

Queen Ola asked looking at her

"No, you are not a queen; you are their prisoner now" Erica said to her.

The Queen was surprise to see King Obi come out of his hiding place accompanied by some of his warriors.
