74 Relieve (1)

Ling Yue straightened up. "Hey Mr.Xi...Is it really okay for you to invite me to a party like this?" she asked without turning her head, feeling a bit dejected.

Xi Jian looked surprised. "What do you mean?"

"You're such a big catch. Many eyes are watching, yet here you come with me. Will it not be bad for you? I mean...for the next potential candidate of Mrs. Xi?"

Ling Yue turned to him when the man did not answer. Xi Jian never thought about who would fit in to Mrs Xi's position. For him, it was likely that Mrs. Xi's position would be filled by arranged marriages or anyone who his family felt fit to hold that position. He never considered a love as his life partner and fill that position.

Xi Jian pushed Ling Yue's forehead who looked serious. "Don't make this little brain of you think hard. It doesn't suit you."

Ling Yue brushed off his hand. "Owh, Mr. Smart, you really know how to treat a woman!"

Ling Yue was annoyed and walked to the party outside. Xi Jian smiled and followed her. That woman's reaction was very entertaining. They argued and talk a lot of things. Weary which all day Xi Jian felt disappeared without a trace.

For the first time (again) Bai Xu waited Xi Jian come out of an official party for so long. His master came out when the party was over. Something he had never done. Xi Jian closed his eyes and leaned his head. The trip back to the hotel feels soothing.

They returned to the city of M the next morning and continued their activities as usual.

Two days after their visit to City C, Xi Jian had a big accident. The news spread like wildfire. The phone kept ringing in King Empire at that time. Only in one hour the company shares fell sharply. Several company officials held an emergency meeting. The legal route would taken for anyone who breaks their unilateral contract. In just one moment, the peaceful condition of King Empire shook.

Ling Yue rushed to the hospital as soon as she got the news from Bai Xu. She almost cried seeing the terrible news running everywhere. Even though that person was annoying, he was quite pleasant.

Bai Xu was waiting for her in front of the hospital.

"How is he? Is he hurt badly?"

Bai Xu didn't say anything. They took the elevator specifically for super vip patients in silence. The atmosphere were really gloomy. No one spoke. Ling Yue noticed that Bai Xu's own face was injured.

"Are you OK, Mr. Bai?"

They arrived in front of the room which was guarded by several bodyguards. They bowed slightly and gave way to Bai Xu and Ling Yue.

"I'm fine. But Master ..." Bai Xu held the knob hesitantly. "Are you sure, Miss Ling?"

Ling Yue adjusted her breathing, preparing herself. 'Is it so bad that Bai Xu asked that?, Without Ling Yue knowing, deep inside, her heart felt torn. Fear began to enveloped her.

She asked herself why she felt that way. Ling Yue suddenly felt unable to move.

"Miss Ling? Are you OK?" Bai Xu looked worried when he saw Ling Yue's face suddenly turned pale.

'This is not a good idea' Bai Xu held her slowly. "Miss Ling, you better not need to enter if—"

"No. Let me in." she said firmly despite shaking.

Tears began to float in her eyes.

Bai Xu sighed. "If you insist ..."

Bai Xu turned the door handle and pushed it. Ling Yue followed Bai Xu behind him closely. She felt she was walking on a thorny floor, each step feels heavy. She did not dare lift her face.

Bai Xu stopped.

Ling Yue also stopped.

"Miss Ling ..." Bai Xu glanced at her again. "I'll leave first." and then he left.

Ling Yue traced the floor in front of her, slowly until her eyes stared at the end of the black shoes that still clung to the feet, continued to climb into the bandaged hands and continued to trace Xi Jian's body until their eyes met.

"What are you doing here?" Xi Jian looked at her angrily.

Ling Yue almost choked on her own tears. She could not see clearly, but Xi Jian's voice pierced her eardrum. She blinked many times making her tears fall hard. She was relieved. Although the tone of his voice wasn't friendly, Ling Yue was truly relieved.
