Hi guys! I'm so sorry I've been posting late. School has been draining me. I hope you can forgive me.

Luke's POV

I sit in my Honda contemplating if I should go to work or not. That spineless brat is creeping me out. I decide to call Jack.

" hey man , are you there yet? " Jack asks sounding breathless.

" No I'm still contemplating if I should go over there."

" I thought we already talked about this last week. What's got you changing your mind?"

I pause for a while as serious as this might be, it's still embarrassing. " she smirked at me."

There is silence at the other side of the line even the sound of the mower in the background is turned off.

" you want to freaking quit your job because some Miss goody two shoes smirked at you?! " Jack yells at me.

" when you say it like that you make me sound like a coward."

" ain't you? "

" you've got to be kidding me . I am not a coward."

" accept it you're a yellow tailed dog. "

" I am not a yellow tailed dog! I glared at her and she didn't cower back out of fear. No! Instead she glared right back, smirked and walked right past me! "

" what's she going to do? Push you to the floor. Come on man we know she can do nothing to you ."

" I don't know. I think something is going on. "

" chill, just go over there mow the grass at the front like I told you to. Forget that she's there. Before the week's up you might be done with your work. "

" fine! But I'm going to kill that brat if she does anything stupid. "

" Linda Gail's as harmless as a doe. Just go already."

" so think you could come over like maybe help me out when you're done? "

" sure..."

" thanks..."

" In your dreams." With that he goes off the line.

This day better go my way.

I drove into the estate, parked my car properly, locked it up and strode to the front door.

I knocked and almost immediately, Mr Gail opens the door.

" ah! You're here. " He lets me in and takes long strides to the living room. So I assume I'm supposed to follow.

" I'm sorry I didn't come earlier. I was..."

He just waves it off not letting me finish. " Don't worry about that. After all, I don't remember setting a time. You have to give yourself space. Closing from school and coming here directly could seriously affect your studies and personal time . Your time's your own but don't forget that you have a deadline to meet." he says finally with a stern face.

" alright then, thank you sir." I say a bit amazed at how kind he is.

" well let's get you settled down for work shall we? Linda? Esperanza? Do you mind coming to the living room for a bit? "

Two girls almost immediately come through a door at the right.

One I recognized as Linda dressed in a short sleeveless gown with upper body fit style and printed waist length flowing around her thighs.

The other whom I've never met before was dressed in a simple cute outfit of blue jeans and a white jacket slightly opened at the front revealing a blue coloured T-shirt.

Something seems out of place, they have this perfectly normal innocent look on their faces which creeps me out for reasons unknown.

Great like one stupid brat wasn't enough, now I have to deal with two and they just happen to be sisters.

" Lindy? Ranza? I want you to meet Luke Matthew.

" Nice to meet you. " both girls greet.

Yeah right. As if.

" Luke my daughter Linda" he said gesturing to Linda . " And Esperanza the ever efficient help who keeps this household well kept and its residents well fed. She makes the best linguini and she's not even Italian."

" thanks for the compliment sir." she says in a Spanish accent.

Ah so she's the help

" nice to meet you " I say to both girls to avoid any sense of awkwardness.

" He will be the new gardener. " Mr Gail continued.

" really daddy!?" Linda asks in a cute squeaky voice that most definitely belongs to a kid. " That means he's gonna keep our lawn neat and perfect. Isn't this wonderful Ranza? " she says much too excited like a child getting their Christmas gift.

Esperanza winces slightly " right. " she says in between her teeth and glares at Linda.

Even I know the acting is too much and too poor. Pu...lee...ze give me something better.

" ookay " Mr Gail says stretching the word out . " since you're so excited, I expect you to give him your full cooperation to make work easier for him, am I perfectly understood?" he asks with what seems like warning in his eyes and a smile way too sweet for my liking.

" of course daddy dear." she replies in the same sickly sweet tone as her father.

" Esperanza please show him where the tools are . I'm in a bit of a hurry. "

" sure Mr Gail. "

" thank you dear. "

She gestures for me to follow her through a door at the base of the stairs possibly leading to the basement.

When I'm almost at the door I hear Mr Gail speaking to Linda.

" behave yourself Lindy don't cause trouble. "

" alright dad. You can go already. "

It's almost as if she's driving him away. I feel a cold shiver run down my spine as I hear the door close. Something propels me to look back at Linda.

She has this smile on her face that is plain wicked and a deadly gleam in her eyes. She suddenly turns and smirks in my direction.

Yeah something is most definitely going on.

" you coming or you gonna keep standing there like a frightened cat?" Esperanza asks in a hostile voice.

So she's in on it too. Just great!

I don't feel like going down with her. Only God knows what they're planning.

" what's wrong? Is Mr tough guy scared of the basement? Don't worry I'll hold your hand you big baby. "

That does it. No way I'm I letting some bad girl wannabe scare me.

I briskly move towards her. As soon as I reach her, I grab her shoulders and lift her chin so that she can look into my eyes. " listen up I don't know what you guys are planning but I'm warning you if I catch on , I promise you, me exerting revenge is going to be something you'll never forget."

" you done?"

" yes I am ."

" Good because when I'm done with you, you'll regret ever touching me and think twice about touching Linda much less hurting her. " With that said she moves further down into the basement.

I feel the hair standing on my neck.
