13 Don't mind me

Shi Weiwei fumed upon hearing this question, "Why I mean...." But her voice trailed off as she realised that Xuan's grip on her shoulder had tightened.

Shi Weiwei turned her head and was a little taken aback to see a sadness that she had never seen before in Ying Xuan's eyes.

She stared at Xuan for a few seconds before she turned to look at the girl, who still seemed very confused. Weiwei said, "Nothing. I meant nothing. And sorry, we will keep it down."

The girl did not seem satisfied, but it was not her place to enquire, so she turned around and focused on the stage.

Shi Weiwei looked at Ying Xuan with a worried expression and said in a hushed voice, "I'm sorry Xuan. I should not have said that."

Ying Xuan forced out a smile as she shook her head and messaged Weiwei, 'Don't worry. Just..... don't use that word again. Okay?'

Shi Weiwei looked at the message and nodded. She felt very bad about the way she had talked. Seeing her so worried, Ying Xuan hugged her and thrust her phone in her face, on which the following words had been typed, 'Don't worry. It's just an old scar. I'll tell you about it sometime. For now, let's enjoy the show. I think there's going to be a great dance performance after this boring speech.'

As Shi Weiwei finished reading it, Ying Xuan, in an attempt to cheer her up, lightly tickled Weiwei.

Shi Weiwei giggled and whispered, "Don't. The scary woman in front will scold us again."

Hearing this, the two girls giggled silently as they went back to watching the show.

After about an hour had passed, the show was almost over. It would be the time for the fresher's party after the speech of their chief guest, whose introduction Ying Xuan and Shi Weiwei had not taken the pain to hear.

Ying Xuan had been greatly annoyed by students walking in the hall during the ceremony. Many had done so, seeming to arrive 'fashionably late', and trying to draw attention to themselves as they walked in during the performances.

Ying Xuan looked around the room and noticed that Ying Xi and her gang were still not there. She sighed, "Of course she wants to be the centre of attraction. That move basically screams Ying Xi."

Ying Xuan was pulled from her thoughts by a loud opening of the hall doors. She thought that it would be Ying Xi, but to her surprise it was not.

Rather, a handsome boy walked in. Xuan immediately recognised him, he was the one she had bumped into at the airport. She remembered his face because he was too good looking and was instantly able to stand out in the masses. Ying Xuan saw that the boy was wearing ripped jeans, a white shirt, and a black leather jacket. And between his lips, to Ying Xuan's horror, he held a cigarette.

She didn't know why, but Ying Xuan felt like her life was going to be really difficult in this college because this boy would also attend. She watched as he strutted towards the front row and sat down, blowing smoke from his mouth.

Even the chief guest, who was about to begin his speech was a little taken aback. He looked at the boy smoking in the front row. The boy did not seem flustered by this. Instead, he said, his deep voice ringing in the silent hall, "Don't mind me. Go on."
