8 The Second Victim
Nicholette's POV
"Thorns emblem. Wanna know about them?"
Shit! how did he know about thorns? I glanced at Lai's direction and I saw her shocked, same reaction with me, but looks like Kyle don't catch any of it.
"Thorns? what the heck is that? you know Kyle, your face look like thorns. GET LOST YOU UGLY CREATURE!" Lai shouted at him and grab my hands. Well, I guess today is a "Grabbing" day, so what can I do?
-School Field-
"How did that guy know about the Thorns?!" Lai shouted by still whispering, scared of someone would hear us. We are currently at the school's field, sitting at the bleachers and thinking how my arrogant ex-boyfriend knew about those syndicates.
"I really don't know. but maybe befriending them will lead us to answers." I answered then get my chips out of my bag.
"No! definitely no! I don't want to talk to those creatures anymore!" she said then grab some of my opened chips.
"But we've got nothing to lose Lai, you are just going to talk to him like friends and leave him after getting information."
"I'll think about it. I'm sure there are other ways on how we can get our own information." She said and I just nod to her, I don't want to answer her back, I'm sure she will just be mad and be shouting until her lungs out.
Third Person's POV
The twins have no idea that there's someone lurking behind them, hiding and quietly listening to all the words they'll say. It is just a fortuitous fate that will lead their ways towards each other that will bring both good and bad fate between them.
Ring! Ring!
"Hello." Said by the person who is on the other line.
"What do you want?" a cold voice coming from the guys who's still hiding behind the pillars.
"Remember, your time is almost up. Make a move or I will. *ends call*" it just left the guy stopping himself to throw his phone and make some noise, he holds his phone tightly and left the scene.
"Damn that woman! She is so impatient!" he said while walking away from the school field.
Nicholette's POV
I suddenly heard some little noise behind our backs. I slowly peek to know what is it but I saw nothing behind those pillars.
"Is there any problem?" Lai asked.
"Nothing. I just thought that I heard something but looks like it's really nothing." I answered then look back at her.
"Every nothing, always turns up into something. Wanna look at it?"
"Nah. I think it's just my imagination. Don't mind me." I answered.
*School bell*
"Let's just go, we can always go back here anytime." She said them give me a wink. I just smiled at her; she really knows that I can not forgot it until we check it out.
*Room*
Minutes passed and I am still staring at the board and until now I still cannot forget how Lai's ex-boyfriend talked about the Thorns. I know maybe he was just ridiculing us and it might not really what we are looking for, but for Pete's sake! The way he asked us looks like he knows us, he knows what we are doing and he know what are we looking for and I cannot agree to let that opportunity fly away just like that. Lai will never approach him but I will.
Aiden's POV
I was looking at the twins from the first time I encountered them and until now the way how they act was so normal. Their routines are just school and their house, for almost a week; one of the reasons why I cannot go back to the headquarters without any piece of important information about them because for sure the lioness will just shout at me again.
"Okay class, we will have an activity and it will be done through pairs. You will be doing a history report about the topic. I expect all of you to have a great presentation. See you tomorrow" said by our professor that I am not sure if she was really teaching or what.
"Ma'am! How about the pairing?!" Someone in the class yelled, yeah, she yelled.
"For simplicity, your seatmates will be your partner. No more questions, I guess. Dismissed." And with that I automatically looked on my seatmate and guess what? It is just one of the twins and she is Nicholai, great! So great! Please include my sarcasm in there.
"Uh I guess we are partners. I'm Nicholai and for sure you already know me." She spoke. I was just about to speak but she cut me out.
"You always stared at me so I'm guessing that you know me." She said with a huge smile on his face.
"Uh yeah. I'm Aiden. Nice to meet you."
"Hi Aiden. So! Here's my number. Just contact me when and where we will be having our meeting because I have somewhere else to go and I hope you don't mind." Wow! Just wow! But who really have the time to do this freaking activity? We're just doing the same thing here.
"Yeah of course. You can go. We are not the one presenting tomorrow so it's okay." I just said to her.
"Thanks. Bye." And she left. I'll just follow her in 10 mins.
Nicholette's POV
It's so irritating! Why we do have reporting? Seriously? At this age? If I know, that professor was just lazy of her talking for hours by herself so I guess she just wanted to take her time while having her salary. BUT! It is still okay because my partner is no other than, Kyle, so I think I can ask him what he knows about the Thorns, which is really a good step to help us looking for some leads.
"NICHOLETTE!!!!" And I heard the black evil witch called my name with a sharp thunderstorm. I know it's Lai but I just ignored her and continue talking with my seatmate.
"Uh Kyle, right? Maybe we should talk about our report later at the canteen? Or at the near cafe?"
"Sure. Let's meet later at the cafe at 5pm." He said then gave me a smirk.
"Okaaay I'll be-- ouch! What the heck is that!" I shouted. Why? Because my witchy sister grabbed my ear to the point that it made me stood up.
"Stop it Nicholai!"
"So you do have the guts to answer me back? Come with me or I'll tear your ears off!"
"Okay okay! I'm coming, Uh Kyle see you later." I just said then waved him a bye.
"What is your problem Lai?" I asked her as soon as we left the room.
"What is MY problem? Why are you talking to that guy?"
"Oooohh I smell something rotting. Are you jealous?" I teased her around while smiling from ear to ear.
"Are you crazy?! Why would I?" she answered. Well let's see.
"Don't you worry my dear sister! I was just talking to him for the sake of collecting information about the Thorns, nothing more, nothing less." I said then gave her a wink.
"Okay fine, but be sure to report all the things you will know."
"Yes ma'am!" I said then gave her a salute.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!" we stopped our conversation after a huge scream filled the quadrangle. We automatically ran toward the crowd to find out what happened. As we got there, we are all on paused as we saw a dead body covering a lot of blood splattered on the ground with its brain and looks like a whole-body fracture. A girl jumped from the rooftop of a 13 floored university building.
