[Sometime Later]

Me and two other soldiers I had picked were slowly moving towards our target, or destination, walking beside a big Ford 3-Ton, a common war tank of the era, everyone was quiet, almost as if they were in a trance, and I couldn't blame them. After you kill a certain amount of men, somethings just doesn't feel right with you.

Inside the tank, the gunner was handling the machine gun constantly moving it to the left and right in a search for something he didn't want to see that none of us wanted to see. Thanks to Venom, I could hear he was hyperventilating, poor guy. But in the end, no one vocalized their fears or problems; everyone, both in and out of the tank, was quiet, with nothing to say.

But it was easy to see, each of the men was terribly anxious and rightly so, apart from me that I had over three years since my father betrayed me all of them were new, fresh, and scared, reason why I was the captain of this fresh entourage.

Today it was the morning of June 24th, the day the USA came to France and caught the poorly-equipped and under-trained garrison enemy troops. It was a blood bath; out of my squad, only six survived, but we pushed them back, it was our duty.

It has been some time since I got here, going from cadet to captain in three years; I probably would've gotten a more significant rank if it wasn't for the asshole of a friend my father had, that made my life in the army a living hell most of the time. Not anymore, he died.

I still remember my second first day in the army; things in the present were vastly different; times of war are not times for human decency, and for that reason, I was thrown into the battlefield with no practical training, or instructions more than, shot and obey rules. Good thing I already had some training from my past life. Though being a soldier in a war was vastly different.

Thanks to Venom, injuries and fatigue were things of the past, I was always alert and ready, and if by some miracle a gun managed to hurt me, I would heal too fast for anyone even to notice I was wounded in the first place, with my trusty rifle the Springfield 1903 .30–06, it was easy to kill people, one bullet, one Nazi down, all of this made my kill count on this war exponentially higher than any other soldier. This was, of course, all thanks to Venom, he gave me a terrifyingly accurate aim, helping me to never miss a shot, which was by human standards impossible, but it made my life easier.

One more year, and I would be back home with Alice and mother, one more year….

"Captain!" A soldier saluted, as soon as we entered the french camp, "A letter for you, my captain,"

"At ease," I said, taking the letter, immediately my hands started to shake, the name of the letter, from who it came said, Edgar Brandon, swallowing the air, that now felt like knives, I opened the letter.

Dear son, I am sorry to let you know your mother and sister died, a few months ago. I am sad beyond words and wanted to let you know, it was beyond my power to stop such a sad event. I am however happy to announce, I married once again, finding love for a second time, her name is Anna Marie Brandon, remember her? She used to come and buy a lot of pearls from us.

But enough about me, I also wrote to tell you I am prideful beyond word of what you become, a true American, fighting for his nation; it makes my chest swell with pride.

With love, your father. Edgar Brandon.

Alice was dead, no... it can't be, she was fine. Healthy, Venom himself confirmed it. No! He killed them; this letter was just to rub it in my face, that I had nothing left. Well, since I had nothing to fight for. There was no reason for me to stay.... because now I only had one goal, to kill my father.

With anger, I broke the letter into pieces, shocking the soldiers around.

-What are we waiting for! WE WANT TO KILL HIM!- Venom growled, his anger vibrating with mine.

Taking my rifle, I walked over the cliff near the Corsica beach while my soldiers and superiors tried to stop me, they knew whatever I had read had disturbed me to a point beyond sanity. They knew I was about to do something crazy.

"Stop!" My superior officer ordered, getting in my way, but I kept on walking until I got to the cliff.

"This is my resignation," I said, taking my shirt off, and shooting myself on the chest, right where my heart was letting my body drop into the sea, Venom of course stopped the bullet before it pierced anything vital.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

With Venom, it would take me fifty hours to go back to the United States swimming nonstop, underwater. So I swam, going over a hundred miles an hour, non-stop, killing any shark or fish stupid enough to try to attack me. The only thing I had on my mind, the one thing that clouded my every thought, was getting to Biloxi, Mississippi, to confirm if what my father had said was true, to confirm if I had to kill him... No, even if it was a joke, I would kill him. The moment that letter arrived, his fate was sealed.

Anger and hatred, like joy and love, make time go by relatively quickly, and in less time than I expected, I found myself walking home, my clothes wet, and my hands full of blood, not mine, from the fish I had slaughtered.

Slowly, I started walking towards the door, and immediately a new smell invaded my nose, there was someone other than my father inside, and judging by the smell, they were about to have sex.

On my knees, I fell to the floor when I realized that I could not smell my mother, or my sister, tears falling on the welcome mat that my mother had chosen. My sadness slowly turned to anger, which I used to kick the door in two with one kick.

The abrupt sound of the door breaking made Edgar and his giggling bitch shut up; seconds later, I could clearly hear someone loading a gun as I walked up the stairs on my way to the room. I stood in front of the door, and without waiting any longer, I opened the door, just to be greeted by the sound of a failed gunshot.

"Ahh!" The bitch screamed for a brief second before I snapped her neck like a stick.

"Hello, father," I said, as Edgar tried to shoot me, once again, this time actually hitting me, but much to his surprise, a black mass stopped the bullet, "Now… take me to their graves; I want to kill you there,"

"Son… I," Edgar stammered in fear as he tried to shot me once again, just to have his hand crushed into a useless appendage, "What are you?!" he inquired, shaking with fear.

Letting my symbiote, Venom, covered my entire body, I growled as I face him, showing him his unavoidable death, as our talons gripped him tight, "We Are Venom!"
