2 Night Interruption

Deep at night, Will was sleeping inside the workshop's small cramped floor, however, the residual heat from the workshop's glassblowing furnace kept him warm and more comfortable than his unheated slum shack.

At night, the number of players within the village were fewer, but most of them seemed to only come to submit monster carcasses and the like before returning back to the wild. Will checked the forum for this particular village and found that beginner villages were particularly infamous for being poor reward to excessive work.

Everyone would be given their own unique quests by the npc, however, the rewards were almost always nonexistant and useless.

However, Will rejected this notion. Why? He had calmly done the quest trail he was asked to do and he received the glass orbs, which he found no database of in the forums.

In the middle of the night, Will was suddenly woken up by a soft rustling. As a slum resident, he had always been a light sleeper, for a thief could always come by even for his minuscule belongings.

He quietly got up and noticed a hunchbacked shadow quietly rustling his way towards one of the houses. Will quietly followed the shadow, trying to hide his own presence in the process.

However, the shadowy hunchback figure detected him and immediately hissed, pouncing on Will to attack. In panic, Will took one of the glass orbs and threw it wildly at the shadow.

The glass orb shattered on impact with the hunchback and a huge screech sounded out, Will saw a health bar drop significantly and a paralyzed status on the hunchback.

The sound awakened the village as the lights turned on and Will could finally see the culprit was actually a man who had features of a rat.

Soon several villagers, including the person from the house whose house was going to be intruded upon arrived and they found a bloodied rat like human monster paralyzed with glass shards everywhere and Will standing close by.

The Elder yelled in shock. "It is the sneaky ratman! It has finally been caught!"

Will raised an eye and described what happened and the man whose house was going to be intruded widened his eyes in shock.

"Our suspicions were true. There really was a ratman hidden in the village!" The guard yelled.

The elder looked at the ratman who was injured and asked. "Who are you?"

The ratman slowly transformed back into a human form, that shocked all the town members. The ratman was actually the woman Linda who was the shop owner who bought all monster drops from the players.

"Linda?" The Elder asked in shock. She was one of the core members of the village!

"I'm sorry elder. I was cursed into this disgusting form a few hours ago by an object that was traded to me. I cannot control it." Linda said.

At that moment an old grandma with a walking stick spoke. "You were poisoned by the disgusting rattan race. You can be cured, but for that we need three herbs."

The Elder sighed when he heard the herbs names and he turned towards Will. "Traveler, I know you are new and I am asking too much of you. But please go to the frill shrubs and find these three herbs and help us cure Linda."

[Quest : Find Rhubarb leaf, Blue Cactus and Mimosa stem in the Fill Shrubs before the night ends or Linda cannot be cured.]

Will nodded, but said. "I do not have any weapon."

The Guard went to his home and returned with a wood sword. "This is my practice sword, I will loam it to you for the journey."

Will sighed and slowly began to agree with the guides, the beginner villagers were really stingy. Regardless, he quietly made his way out of the village. The Frill Shrub was actually the first hunting region and the monsters were all level 1.

Will found that there were two kinds of beasts here, level 1 rabbit and level 1 angry turkeys. At night, these beasts seemed to be even more active, especially the rabbits, which looked innocent, but they were very quick and not to mention stronger than Will who was level 0.

Will quietly made his way to the shrub. The quest pointed to him the pictures of the herbs he had to collect. The problem was it was night time and he had to collect the herbs before the night ended.

As he was walking into the shrubs, he found a group of rabbits surrounded him. Three rabbits at once, showing their sharp fore teeth with hostility. Will tightened the grip on the sword, but he had no skill with it at all. Then he thought of something and as the rabbits pounced, he threw another of those glass bombs he had gotten from Vince. Immediately, it exploded and killed the three rabbits, giving Will some exp.

Will picked up the rabbit fur that dropped and walked forward. At that moment he found a small tree under whose brush, a tiny herb was growing. Will's eyes lit up, because it was one of the herbs he needed to collect. He quickly walked over and gently gathered the herb.

He spent his time exploring when he came across a player. The player saw the poor clothes on Will and spoke up.

"Are you new? You should hunt in the morning. At night the monsters tend to go berserk." The player advised.

"I am looking for herbs for a quest." Will said.

The player raised an eye. "You are doing the crappy quests at the village? Very well, if you go a kilometer in that direction, you'll find these two herbs."

Will thanked him and made his way to the area. On the way he was ambushed several times and tried using his sword, however, his swings were terrible and missed the monsters every time, thus he ended up using the glass bombs, killing the monsters and collecting the fur.

Eventually he found the final two herbs, collecting them and returned. On the way back he faced several monsters which he would aggro multiple of and then kill together using the glass bombs. Will quietly was in awe of this exploding object that Vince had created.

Finally he returned to the village and gave the three herbs to the grandma, who began grinding them on the spot. All the villagers had gathered around and it was an interesting scene which caught the eye of some players returning from the hunt.

Finally the grandma fed the concoction paste to Linda, who began glowing and the rat like features slowly disappeared as she fell unconscious.

The Elder finally sighed and looked at Will. "Young man, thank you very much for your help.

You've helped the village a lot this time."

Will nodded and returned to Vince's workshop and went back to sleep. The next day he got up, somewhat fresh, but still tired.
