6 Chapter 6

The next morning, I was inside the kitchen making breakfast for Bella and Charlie. Bella descended the stairs and sat down looking distracted. I knew she was thinking about how Edward had stopped the minivan with his bare hands. Thankfully she hadn't seen Rosalie approach me as I was a little distance away from her when the accident happened.

I had gotten an alarm that Edward had crossed the wards yesterday, which I knew would happen. Since he hadn't come with any ill intentions per se, he was able to get through the wards. But the moment he tried to enter through a window he was electrified. That amount of electricity would have been more than enough to kill a normal human, but in his case he just felt like he had been tasered.

I smiled at the thought. He must have been utterly shocked ( pun not intended ) that he was not able to enter Bella's room. And the best fact is that he can't possibly tell anyone about this. Because if he does then he will be regarded as a creep and stalker. Check and mate.

'' Good morning Bells, what are you thinking about ? ''

'' Huh..'' Bella looks up at as if she's seen me just now. '' Oh, good morning. And it's nothing. ''

'' It doesn't look like it's nothing. If you're having any problem tell me. Maybe I can help you out. ''

'' Uhm... Damian, did you see Edward anywhere near us before the accident happened.''

'' You mean how he got to us so fast from across the parking lot ? ''

Bella's eyes widen but she nods nonetheless. '' Yeah. Do you know ? ''

'' Think Bella. Think about all the clues, the flags, the signs. The answer is right under your nose Bella. You just need to focus to see it.''

I resumed making breakfast after saying that, leaving Bella to ponder on my words.

-LINE BREAK-

We were visiting the greenhouse today. I was ahead of the group with the Cullens while Edward and Bella were talking at the back in hushed tones. Not wanting to give any indication I could hear them I established a mind link with Rosalie and said, ' You know your brother is weird. I mean adrenaline rush ? Seriously ? That's the best he can come up with ? '

' Give him a break love. The fact that she is both his blood singer AND mate is messing with his mind. He can't think properly around her. '

' So, was there any trouble at home ? '

' No. All of them were really happy that you accepted me for who I really am. Though Edward was angry that I took your choice away from you, I gave him an earful for that comment. How I decide to live my life is none of his business. ' She thought while leaning lovingly on my arm at the first part and huffing angrily at the second. '

' Don't worry love, I have a mean surprise already planned for him. '

She looked at me curiously but I didn't specify, stating that she will find out later.

The next day I was eating lunch in the cafeteria with the Cullens. Alice was bouncing excitedly in her seat, happy that she didn't have to hide her power's from me any more. The rest of the Cullens were also happy at this. I had become good friends with all of them in the short period of time I've know them. I shared my love for competition with Emmett. The both of us would often engage in silly competitions. I shared my love of books and martial arts with Jasper. He would often tell me the stories of the different books he had read and how he liked them. Other times we would show each other different kinds of martial arts moves. Edythe and I shared a love for Philosophy. She and I would often talk about various philosophical subjects for a long period of time. I was least closest with Edward among the Cullens but that was just because of how he was behaving right now. I'm sure that once he matures like he did in breaking dawn he and I would bond over our shared love for music.

Currently I was watching as Edward was talking to Bella across the cafeteria. I turned to the rest of the Cullens and said, '' You know your brother's mood swings are giving my sister a whiplash. I mean one moment he is glaring at her and the next moment he wants to be friends with her. Are you sure he isn't gay. Maybe that's why he doesn't like my sister. All of his romantic prospects are gravitating towards her because she's pretty. Maybe he feels insecure.'' I said in a serious tone while nodding my head sagely. I could feel Edward's glare on my back while the Cullens were either snickering or giggling.( AN : I don't actually have any thing against gay people, this is just a joke. )

Rosalie also nodded her head and said, '' Hmm... maybe you're right. I should speak to Esme and Carlisle about talking to him regarding his sexuality.''

The rest of the Cullens also joined in on our prank and we spent the rest of the lunch block discussing about Edward's sexuality and how he should come out of the closet, pissing Edward off more with each passing second.

-LINE BREAK-

Today was one of the rare days when the sun showed it's face in Forks. All of the students were gathered outside playing, talking or just basking in the sun. Although Rosalie could walk in the sun without glittering now, she still had to retreat with her family to keep up appearances.

While I was thinking about this Bella came up to me and said, '' Hey Damian, could you tell Charlie that I'll come home a little late tonight ? Jessica and Angela have invited me to to go shopping with them today. ''

'' Sure. And Bella, It wouldn't kill you to call him dad you know. ''

She just rolled her eyes and walked off. I knew tonight was the night when the incident with those bastards happens. Though I can't reveal myself in front of her that doesn't mean that I'll be letting those parasites get away. They'll make an adequate meal for me tonight.

-LINE BREAK-

Just as predicted those cowards tried to force themselves on her but Edward reached her in time and scared them off. I was watching the entire scene play off from atop a rooftop. After Edward left with Bella I cornered the scum in an alleyway and tortured them before draining them dry.

I reached home just in time to see dad and Bella pull into the driveway. Bella immediately went inside her room and locked the door. Looks like she was finally starting to put the pieces together.

The next morning Bella ran up to me while I was in the kitchen. She knew that Charlie had already gone off to work so it was safe to talk. '' You knew. '' She said accusingly, narrowing her eyes at me.

'' Could you clarify a little more Bells ? I know a lot of things. ''

'' You knew about Edward being a..a..''

'' Vampire ? '' I specified for her. She just nodded at me mutely, clearly waiting for me to explain.

'' Yes, I know. I've known for a long time. ''

'' How ? ''

'' Just as I said, the clues were right in front of you Bella. All of them had pale skin, all of them were inordinately beautiful, they aren't supposed to be blood related yet all of their eyes are the same colour, they never eat anything during lunch break,they all disappear when the sun shows up. It doesn't take a genius to connect all that to vampires.''

'' And you are okay with that ? ''

'' I am, just as I know you are as well. Besides it's not like they hurt anybody. But..'' my eyes became serious as I said, '' Be careful Bella. Just as there are good vampires there are bad ones as well. Ones that prey on innocents.''

Bella looked shocked at how serious I was. She nodded her head and said, '' Don't worry. I'll be careful. ''

I nodded back and we ate the rest of our breakfast in silence. When we reached school I stood with the Cullens as we watched Bella gesture for Edward to follow her into the woods. I shook my head at my sister's naivety. I get that you're in love with him but you should at least confront him in a public place so that he can't hurt you. Trust is good but blind trust is unhealthy.

Since I knew that they were going to spend the rest of the day together I just went inside with Rose and started my day.

[ Bella's PoV ]

I walked inside the forest, Edward right behind me. My head was a mess. Damian's words were ringing in my ears. He was right, I should have noticed it before. All of them have the same eyes, even though they aren't blood related.

I stopped and said knowing that Edward could hear me,'' You're impossibly fast and strong. Your skin is pale white and ice cold. Your eyes change colour. And sometimes you speak like...like you're from a different time. You never eat or drink anything, you never go out in the sunlight.''

I could feel his presence behind me now. '' How old are you ? ''

'' Seventeen. '' He answered in his smooth velvety voice.

"And how long have you been seventeen?" I inquired.

'' A while. '' He admitted after some pause.

'' I know what you are. '' I finally admitted.

'' Say it. '' His voice was strained and concerned but still managed to sound alluring somehow.

'' Out loud. '' He said, coming closer to me. I could feel his breath on my neck.

'' Say it. '' He said once again.

'' Vampire.'' I breathed out.

'' Are you afraid ? '' He asked, his voice full of emotion.

I know that I should be. It was the most logical option. But for some reason I felt that I could never be afraid of him.

'' No. '' I said with certainty. I knew for a fact that he would never hurt me. I feel safe when I'm around him. Nobody else has ever given me such a sense of security. Not even my brother.

'' Then ask me the most basic question. What do we eat ? ''

'' You wouldn't hurt me. '' I spoke, voicing my thoughts out loud.

He looked at me with a strange emotion in his eyes before taking my hand and leading me deeper into the forest.

'' Where are we going ? ''

'' Up the mountain, out off the cloud bank. You need to see what I look like in the sunlight.'' He said before he put me on his back and started running at such speeds that I had a hard time focusing on my surroundings. Everything passed by me in a blur of green. Finally we broke out of the cloud banks and reached an area where the sunlight was present. He walked into the sunlight and I gasped. His skin was glittering like diamonds. It was the most fascinating sight I had ever seen. It was beautiful.

'' It's like diamonds...you're beautiful. '' I spoke, voicing my thoughts out loud.

'' Beautiful ? '' He asked, laughing mockingly. '' This is the skin of a killer Bella.''

'' I am a killer. '' He said despairingly.

'' I don't believe that. '' Someone who had such reflexes towards saving life couldn't be a killer.

'' That's because you believe the lie...the camouflage. I'm the world's most dangerous predator. Everything about me invites you in. My voice, my face, even my smell.''

'' As if I would need any of that.'' He said in a mocking voice. He flashed away all of sudden and reappeared on top of a tree trunk.'' As if you could outrun me.''

He flashed away again before reappearing behind me. He uprooted a tree with one hand and threw it into the distance. '' As if you could fight me off.''

'' Designed to kill.''

'' I don't care.''

''I've killed people before.''

'' It doesn't matter. ''

He looked at me disbelievingly. Mouth opening and closing as if he wanted to say something.

'' I wanted to kill you. I've never wanted a humans blood so much in my life. '' He finally said. He said it hoping to make me afraid. It didn't work. I couldn't be afraid of him even if I tried.

'' I trust you.'' I said with finality.

'' Don't. ''

'' I'm here. I trust you.''

'' My family, we're different from others of our kind. We only hunt animals. We've learnt to control our thirst. But you, your scent, it's like a drug to me. Like my own personal brand of heroine.''

'' Why did you hate me so much when we met ? ''

'' I did. Only because I wanted you so badly. I still don't know if I can control myself.''

'' I know you can.''

'' I can't read your thoughts. You're going to have to tell me what you're thinking.''

'' Now I'm afraid.'' He seemed as if he had broken apart at those words.

'' Good.'' He said with resigned acceptance.

'' I'm not afraid of you. I'm afraid of losing you.''

'' You don't know how long I've waited for you. So, the lion fell in love with a lamb.''

'' What a stupid lamb.'' I said

'' What a sick, masochistic lion.'' He said.

Edward and I finally lay down atop the ground of a grassy meadow. Neither of us was saying anything. We just stared at each other in silence. But it wasn't one of those awkward,uncomfortable silences I was all too familiar with. This silence was comforting. As I looked into his amber coloured eyes I realised that I was irrevocably in love with Edward Cullen. I realised that I was okay with that.
