3 Attack

It was a normal day, Simon was making lunch until to his horror the horn sounded, and soldiers ran to their guns. The army camp quickly started to become organized and got into formation. The soldiers who didn't even had the energy to leave their beds a minute ago were in full readiness. The guns were loaded.

There was silence for a while. Only the leather saddles creaked and the harness jingled. Seeing all of this Simon knew fully well what was about to come. The army camp was going to become a war zone where he could lose his life any second.

Meanwhile, a Captain with honey blonde hair took the place at the head of the soldiers, preparing to repel the attack. Simon did not have time to get far when he met with the other volunteers who were getting ignorantly excited of the fact that they would fight, ignoring the grim faces of the soldiers present that told them another story. It wasn't long before they were asked to join the attack, apparently the officers realized that there weren't enough men and there was no way to assign someone for the protection of volunteers. Instead of arguing with the order Simon picked up his gun that was his lifeline in this battle and joined the soldiers. While, inwardly praying for his survival and that if he survived he would run far away, a shell whizzed over the heads of the soldiers, tore into Luther's chest. His body lay on the ground motionless. Simon felt dread he gagged and vomited out whatever was left of his breakfast that he ate in the morning. He could see that the rest of the volunteers finally realized the fact how frail their life actually was. Only Alec was unaffected by it he breathed heavily, raised his gun and uttering a death scream cursing the murderers of his brother, which could only be called as creepy.

And then artillery opened fire from both sides. Grenades and cannonballs flew at the enemy, and as the riders approached, buckshot was also used. Despite this, the soldiers continued continued to advance, passing under a hail of shells at a gallop, breaking their formation under the lead of the blonde captain.

Running away from the battle Simon entered the forest, the image of how his companion died in and his shining red blood erupting from his wound still fresh in his mind. But the goddess of luck had decided not to help Simon as he came face to face with the Union Soldier without thinking he raised his gun and blindly started to shot to shoot at them while screaming and running back towards the camp. This killed many Union soldiers but Simon's mind was too clouded with fear of losing his life that he didn't even register that he was taking lives of other humans. He ran and ran and ran until he found shelter in a tree hollow. His erratic breathing showed no sign of calming down at all and finally tears started to flow down his cheeks. He cursed the soldiers who fought in the war, cursed the leaders who started this war, cursed his mother and father who got him into this war and cursed god who allowed this war to happen. He heard the rushing of footsteps and held his breath while praying to the same God he had just cursed as he tried to be as silent and still as humanely possible eventually the sounds passed and could not be heard any more. Now that he was out of danger he realized that he felt a was wounded in the leg.

Panicking he tore his sleeve and tied up his leg as not to die from blood loss. He stayed in the tree hollow until night and when the sounds of battle could no longer be heard.

But he knew better then to go back to go back to the camp with knowledge of the situation. He got near the edge of the forest and started watching the situation from the height. The battle-hardened veteran were in tears for losing their brothers in arms. The Union soldiers were taken as prisoners and the injured were being treated. He failed to see any of the other volunteer boy that was with him inwardly hoping that they had ran away from the battlefield after realizing that there was no glory here only madness. After observing the situation he finally decided to join the camp. Limping he made his way to the injured section to get his leg treated.

Arriving at the infirmary he was greeted by the sharp smell of disinfectants and groaning of the soldiers. The nurses and doctor rushing everywhere to treat the wounded. A nurse noticed him and asked, "what's wrong, love?" Simon afraid that opening his mouth would cause him to vomit whatever was in his stomach just pointed to his leg. The nurse saw his leg being tied up and sat him on the ground to get a look at the leg "hmmm, the wound is deep, no infection yet, the bullet is still inside the leg. Don't worry it's not something too big we'll get you treated and rested enough to be fit as a horse."
