3 [Re] Chapter 3 — Bear vs Wolf

((Edited))

==============================

~Year 500ish~

~Alexzander POV~

Nothing of major interest has happened in the last couple months, I haven't made any new progress with my inner Wolf. My buildings have all been stalled until I can come up with a solid plan.

The only thing of any real interest is that I've been tracking a bear for a while now, and I've finally decided to hunt and kill it. Don't get me wrong this isn't for fun or something stupid like that.

The winter months are coming up soon and last years winter was so cold I'd honestly thought about setting myself on fire in hopes to warm up a tad.

Anyways the Bear tends to stay close to source of water and a close by hunting area. Both of which I've got mapped out in my map.

"Let's go hunt some bear" I say to myself grabbing my bow and arrows, a spear and my bone dagger.

It doesn't take to long for me to find my first sign of the Bear ,a giant paw print the size of my head at least. There's also some feces nearby aswell which I believe to be the bears.

I silently and slowly follow the bear tracks, I do not wish for the bear to know I'm coming nor do want it to be able to sneak up on me. So I stay at a constant slow pace keeping my eyes peeled and ears open.

I follow the tracks for seemingly hours before I get close to the bear. I could now smell that I've entered it's territory, so I should be able to find it quick enough.

I slowly begin to spot broken branch's scattered around the place obviously from the bear, it must be quite big in size and weight to snap branch's that are on the ground and on the trees themselves.

The bear is definitely worthy prey, and my inner Wolf seems to agree with a growl. Following the tracks and broken branch's they eventually led me to a rather large and dark cave.

I stepped in front of the cave only to be greeted by a foul smell. "Someone needs to clean out their home" I whisper scrunching up my nose at the smell.

I scout out the area slightly trying to find a good spot to give me the advantage. 'Hmm I could hid in those trees and release arrows while continuously moving trees'

With a basic plan of action, I gather a bunch of stones in my hand and hide behind a tall oak tree. Taking aim I toss a stone right into the cave and listen to it echo within the cave. I then toss a couple more for good measure

It takes only seconds for me to hear the sounds of grunting and heavy breathing from the cave. I aim my bow and load up an arrow, pulling the string back to my check I keep my arms steady as I await the prey.

The grunting and breathing gets progressively louder until, I giant brown bear explodes from within the cave. I was so shocked by it's size i forgot to fire my arrow.

"Fuck me" I mumble letting my arrow loose. I don't wait to see if I hit my mark I immediately leave my hiding area to sprint to another tree. I aim again at the bear that's running towards my previous hiding spot and fire another arrow.

I repeat this cycle until I'm all out of arrows, but the bear still stands and it's like the arrows didn't even do anything. "Spear it is then" I say

I drop my now useless bow and pull off my quiver as I grab my spear from my back. I take a couple of breaths as I realise I'm about to fight to the death with a bear.

"Let's do this" I whisper stepping out from behind the tree which just so happens to be behind the bear.

"Oi fat boy, let's have it!" I shout getting the bears attention, I'll only get one chance and I need my single strike to be fatal meaning the bear has to be facing me.

The bears head snaps to look at me, it immediately charges at me in its fury. I also charge towards it all while yelling out a battle cry.

When the bear gets me in range it does a small jump and raises its paw to strike me down.

While I immediately slide and raise my spear to slot right into its chest as I slide under it.

My vision kinda blurs out as we clash, all I hear is a *Crunch* and a *Snap* as I tumble away from the bear the flys over me.

Getting my bearings I notice my distinct lake of spear or at-least half of one. Looking at the bear I see it already getting up even with half my spear stuck in its chest while the other half is in my hand.

"Shit" I curse rolling backwards and onto my knees, I narrow my eyes as I look at the now standing bear. My only option is to good for the eyes.

I pull out my bone dagger and hold it in one hand and my broken spear in the other. The two of us once again charge at each other.

I jump up as high as I can hoping to land on the bear and stab my dagger and broken spear into its eyes or neck.

The bear on the other hand opens its jaws wide hoping to catch me and then tear me to sheds.

~Scene Change~

"*Whistling theme to Star Wars*, Got this thing is bloody heavy" I complain dragging the freshly cut bear skin back to my home.

"Ah shit" I snap, I glance down at my healing side of my stomach, there's three marks the look suspiciously like claw marks.

"Lucky shot, but it's not going to scar" I tell my self.

I make it back to my home before dark, I immediately wash off myself and clean my healing wounds before I grab something to eat and the I flop onto my bed and go to sleep.
