6 Farewell, My Love

MC'c POV

Right after Rebekah left for her things, I quickly ran back to the village.

Having stolen a torch beforehand from the villagers which they use to light up the night, I was about to destroy the only thing that could kill the love of my life. And this would also create a distraction so that we could escape.

Just as I was about to drop the flaming torch, someone super sped in front of me and smacked me in the face. This sent me flying a few metres away like a rag doll.

"Ow..." I groaned in pain, holding the left side of my face in pain as I struggled to stand up.

"Now, what is it? I have heard about you running away with my daughter." The culprit who hurt me revealed himself.

"Mikael..." Gritting my teeth, I forced myself to stand up and get into a fighting stance.

Shit! Mikael is here already? Did he hear us in the forest?

Gulp!

I involuntarily gulped as I came face to face with the cold-blooded would-be vampire hunter. Looking at his eyes I couldn't help but feel cold sweat drip from my back, as if I was being scrutinised by a hunter hunting for his prey.

"Mikael, you don't have to do this. We can all become one happy family if you just let me marry Rebekah." I tried to pacify the situation but he spat at my goodwill and said in a disgusted tone,

"I will never let my daughter marry a waste of a man."

Those words broke every bit of patience I had for that man. Grabbing the flaming torch that had fallen, I rolled over and tried to burn him.

However, before the flaming torch touched him, he sped out of the way and hit me on the back of my head. Hard.

Fucking vampire speed.

I cursed as the view before me gradually became more and more slanted as I fell to the cold concrete ground.

...

After I came to my senses, I felt blood pooling on the side of my head. A violent migraine overwhelmed me, as if I had just been hit by a truck. And for some reason, I felt my chest was burning like crazy.

Mikael!

As I remembered Mikael had just attacked me, I realized he was probably choking me right now. Panicking, I summoned any willpower left in me and forced my eyes to open up. When I opened my eyes, what I saw broke me. It broke me truly.

Seeing the love of my life crying and begging to release me as her brothers held her back from attacking Mikael, I felt my heart churn into a million pieces.

Feeling all kinds of emotions rush through my chest. There were so many things that I wanted to tell her before I died. Like how much I love her and how much she means to me. But none of that matters because all I wanted to do at that moment was walk up to her and comfort her. I wanted to tell her that everything is going to okay.

Knowing this is probably the end of Cassius Nightshade, tears started gathering in the corner of my eyes, and I croaked out.

"I will love you, always and forev–" However before I could finish, a sudden pain struck me in my chest, more precisely my heart.

'Excruciating' would have been the most appropriate word to describe how I was feeling, as I felt an indescribable pain wash over my body. The pain was so intense that no words nor screams escaped my mouth. It was as if a knife was carving my heart out and salt was applied to my wound.

This is not how I die. I have to live. For my sister. For Rebekah. Please, anyone please save me...

Those were my last thoughts before my consciousness slipped and darkness enveloped my vision.

Thud!

My body slumped to the ground lifeless.

Unknowingly to everyone there, the pendant that was given to me glowed for a split second as my body slumped to the ground.

Mysterious person's POV (I think we all know who it is)

[Earlier today]

"I'm sorry I couldn't help you earlier but you'll be grateful for what I'm doing now." She let out a weary sigh and closed her eyes, steeling herself for what was to come. With a swift flick of her hand, she levitated a strand of blonde hair into a small bowl. Taking a deep breath, she cut her palm, and a crimson stream of blood poured into the bowl, mingling with the floating hair.

"Now for the hard part," she murmured, beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she channeled her magic onto *****.

"Esto habitus, pallium esto. Esto habitus, pallium esto. Esto habitus, pallium esto." She repeated the incantation over and over, her concentration unwavering despite the physical and mental strain. Minutes passed like hours, and the bowl began to glow with crimson flames, the air crackling with energy. Exhausted, she collapsed onto the ground, her body trembling with fatigue. As she caught her breath, she spoke into the empty air, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Even though I cannot change what is to come, I hope this makes up for it."

The End?
