2 Chapter-2 Memory Loss

"Emma, Emma wait. ", she shouted but Emma was already out of her sight.

" I am hungry but that is not my concern now. ", she said but there was no one present in the room.

She removed the blanket, covering her body and to her horror and surprise, she found out that the clothes she was wearing were different from the clothes she had on, when she woke up in that dark cave.

She tried getting up from the bed but her body was gripped with exhaustion, forcing her to lie down again and the IV was also restricting her movement.

Soon after, Emma entered the room with a tray full of food but before she could even keep the plate, Lilly stoped her.

" Emma, did you change my clothes? ", she asked.

" Yes, I did. I told you that your clothes were covered with blood so I had to. Sorry, I had to cut them to take them off as Alex said that you needed immediate care. ", Emma replied, apologetically, feeling bad for what she did, even though she knew it was not her fault

" Immediate care? Why? What was wrong with me? "

" Do you really not know? ", Emma asked, surprised.

" No. I also have no idea what is going on, what happened to me and why was I even in that cave? Was I even there or did someone take me there? I have no idea about anything. ", Lilly burst out, sobbing, having no idea what to do.

"It's fine Lilly. You will be fine. Calm down. Try to relax, please. See, your IV is getting loose. Please relax, calm down. ", Emma said, as she hugged her tightly, trying her best to prevent her from moving.

" I miss my family, my mother. ", she said, sobbing on her shoulders.

After crying for some time, Emma helped Lilly lie down and increased the flow of liquid.

" I am sorry but I can't help you with that. There must be some reason that Alex brought you to his home. ", she said.

" Where is this Alex? I did even see him properly at that time and I have a lot of questions I want to ask him. ", Lilly said.

" Like what happened to me? ", Emma asked.

" That will come later. The first question is that if he was the one who did all this to me? "

" WHAT? No Emma, I am sure that Alex must have not hurt you. He is the one who saved you and helped you or else you would have already been dead. ", Emma said, defending the guy, who Lilly was suspicious of.

" How can you be so sure? He is the only person I remember seeing. There was no one beside him. "

" I don't know but I bet that Alex didn't do anything to you. Now we will talk later. First have something and rest properly. ", Emma said, helping Lilly up and putting the tray in front of her.

" Alright but can I know where this Alex is? Why have I not seen him till now? "

" He said that you might not be comfortable if he was present in the room. He was just being considerate, please don't misunderstand. ", she said, signalling Lilly to eat.

" So, where is he? ", Lilly asked, eating as she didn't want to refuse her kindness.

" In his study. He is busy preparing for some work related things. "

" Then, can I just call my mother? At the very least, I want to inform her that I am fine and that she does not need to worry. "

" Ah! Lilly, I think you should call her tomorrow. For now, you need to take proper rest. I am sure that she won't object for a day. ", Emma said, rejecting her request.

" But she must be worried. It has just been a day since I left home. "

" A day? Are you sure that it has just been a day since you left? ", Emma asked, surprised.

She was not able to believe that as when she was treating Lilly, she had suspected that the girl had been starving for days and she was also dehydrated.

" Yes. How can I be wrong? I just got admission in my dream college, so I went out to celebrate with my friends and we partied a lot. I guess I blacked out after that. ", she explained.

" Did you drink alcohol? ", she asked, surprised, not able to understand anything.

" NO. ", she denied immediately. " I am not at the legal age to drink. I don't do things which can cause obstacle to my career. "

" Wow! Seems like you are very ambitious and goal oriented. ", she said with a smile.

Lilly also gave a gentle smile with her weak body.

" That is the reason I am worried. My first year of college will start in two months so, I can't waste a lot of time. ", Lilly said.

" I can understand that but I don't think I can do much about that. However, can I ask you something? "

" You already are. ", she joked, trying to relax herself. " Go ahead. "

" Did you eat something when you went to celebrate with your friends? ", she asked.

" Of course, I did. I ate a lot and partied till my legs gave out. Afterall this was the first time in months, since I went out to celebrate. ", Lilly replied with a smile, remembering the fun she had with her friends.

" You did. Can you tell me the date you went out to celebrate? ", she asked worried about something.

" Of course but why are you getting pale, all of a sudden. "

" It's nothing. I am just a little tired. So, what was the date at that time? ", she asked again.

" I think it was 15, why? "

" WHAT? IT WAS 15? ", she screamed in horror.

" Yes, why? ", Lilly asked, worriedly, after seeing Emma scream in horror.

" I am sorry but is there anything else you remember after that? I mean after the party? "

" No. ", Lilly replied, shaking her head.

" Nothing at all? "

" No. "

" Then what is the last thing that you remember? ", she asked, anxiously.

" I don't even remember when I left the party. The last thing I remember is that I was talking with my friend and then..... then...

OH NO! I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING AFTER THAT. ", she screamed in horror as she started hyperventilating.

" Lilly, Lilly, please calm down. It is alright. There is nothing to worry about. ", Emma screamed, shaking Lilly, in horror.

Emma kept on calling Lilly but she was not able to hear anything as she, herself was trying her best to stop.

It took Lilly some time to calm down, but she, herself calmed down and became normal.

" Emma, tell me truthfully. What is the date today? ", she asked with a piercing gaze.

" Lilly, I don't think that you should ask that for now. Whatever you are thinking is not true. ", Emma said, trying to talk her out of it.

" Then tell me the date? ", she asked, with the gaze which could even pierce a rock.

Lilly's gaze made Emma shiver and she gave up, trying to talk her out of it.

" Then promise me you won't panic. ", she said.

" I won't. "

After that, Emma showed her phone and the date displayed on the mobile was 23rd.

" I don't have recollection of an entire week! ", said the poor girl, with an unrecognisable tone, as tears started rolling down her beautifull eyes.

There was some kind of emotion in her voice but it was neither surprise, not anger, nor fear. It was something, completely different. It was as if she was telling her own self that.

The food kept on her lap fell on the floor when she started hyperventilating and when Emma asked if she should get her something else but she refused.

" I don't think that I will be able to eat anything now and I am also feeling very tired. Can I rest after cleaning this up? ", she asked, pointing to the mess on the floor.

" No, I will do it. You should rest, for now. "

" No, I am not that tired. I can do it. ", she said, as she got up, pulling her IV.

" See. You should rest and let me take care of this. "

After forcing Lilly to lie down, Emma cleaned everything.

" Get some sleep Lilly. ", she said and turned to leave, after cleaning when she felt a hand grabbing her wrist to stop her from leaving.

" Please don't leave. I am scared. ", said the poor girl and tears were still rolling down her eyes.

Emma gently put her hand on Lilly's frail hands and looked at her.

" I won't. It has been very late at night so I have to leave but, I promise, that I will leave after making sure that you have fallen asleep. "
