Chapter-14 Blood Thirst

Lilly wished that Emma would speak up for her, as she always had, but, to her disappointment, she also turned her eyes away.

" Don't you want to go back to your family as soon as possible? ", Alex asked, on seeing Lilly's hurt reaction.

" I do but.... "

" After returning back home, you will have to resume your daily life and that will require you to spend time with humans. Do you even understand what that means? ", he said, not giving her chance to speak.

" I do. It means that there is risk of revealing myself to others. "

" You also know that very well but there is also risk that you hurt your loved ones. You will face this kind of choice every second, each and every time. Now do you still not want to train? "

" I... I... ", Lilly was not able to make her mind after hearing Alex's explanation which put her in dilemma.

" The choice is yours. Our lives are full of choices and we are the only ones to bear thr consequences of our choices. Choose quickly, you won't get much time. "

After thinking for some time and analysing Alex's explanation, she agreed.

" Ok but promise that you won't let me hurt him. ", she said.

" It depends on you. I can just stop you from escaping after losing control. Rest, you have to do on your own. I will not always be there to stop you from hurting your loved ones. "

" Can't you for once, just agree with her? ", Emma snapped.

" Emma, if you are going to keep on acting like this, I think it would be better for us, if you leave. ", he said, sternly glaring daggers at her.

His gaze was so cold that it send shivers down Lilly's spine and his gaze was sharp enough to even pierce a stone.

" Ok, I am sorry. "

Then he turned to Lilly and asked, " Are you ready? "

Lilly just nodded as she closed her eyes, loosening her grip on the puppy, so that he could run away.

Alex immediately understood that and forcefully placed it back her in arms, not letting it escape.

" But I am still feeling fine. I can still manage for quite a long time. ", Lilly said.

" I know but it's fine. This atmosphere will itself speed up the process and you will not be able to control yourself from turning. ", he replied as he dimmed the lights again.

" Do lights really matter? Like will i burn in sunlight? "

Alex laughed at her question which even made Emma smile.

" What kind of century are you humans still living in? ", he said, laughing loudly.

" I don't know. I am just asking because you keep on dimming the lights. "

" Light does not affect vampires anymore because first, the sunlight we receive is not direct sunlight and second, vampire's have also grown resistant to that light. Vampires only get affected by direct sunlight and newly turned vampires are more comfortable in darkness. ", he explained with a smile.

Lilly was patiently listening to his explanation until she felt something in her stomach and throat. Her throat had started getting sore while she started feeling pain in her stomach.

" Ah!!! ", she groaned in pain, grabbing her stomach. " My stomach is hurting. "

" Pain and sore throat means that your thirst is increasing slowly. ", Alex explained as Emma got up from her chair, worriedly.

" Are you alright, Lilly? How are you feeling? ", she asked worriedly.

" I am fine. It is just that I am feeling a little thirsty. Can I get some water? "

" HAVE YOU NOT UNDERSTOOD ANYTHING YET? ", Alex roared in anger. " WATER WILL NOT QUENCH YOUR THIRST. You will have to fight yourself to quench it. "

" But can't I at least try to decrease the process. "

" You can't. Then what will you do after turning, when you will lose control over your body? "

While they were arguing, it was getting harder for Lilly to keep herself together as the sweet smell of blood from the puppy tickled her senses.

" Lilly, I am sorry but we can not help you. Just stay focused and keep a goal in your mind. ", Emma said, trying to distract her.

" Ah!!!! My stomach!!!! ", she groaned again. " I can keep control over my mind but what about this pain? I can't bear it. It feels like my intestines are getting twisted. "

" It is because of thirst. Your body is demanding blood right at the moment. Don't lose focus. ", Alex said, standing far away from her.

" I am not saying that I won't but this pain, I can't.... "

Before she could complete her sentence, the pain increased causing her to increase her grip on the puppy.

The puppy barked as her finger tightened around him and she immediately removed her hands, making the little guy jump. Seeing the puppy run away, Alex came and forced it in Lilly's arm again.

" CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I AM HURTING HIM? ", she roared in agony and anger.

" I can see but you will have to bear it and try to find a solution by yourself. "

" THEN WHY IN THE WORLD ARE YOU EVEN HERE? "

" It is none of your business. ", he replied, increasing Lilly's anger.

She realised that it was no use getting angry at him as that only increased her pain. Thus she did not say anything and just removed her right hand from the puppy and placed it on her own arm.

With just one hand around the puppy, she lightly stroked his back while slowly increasing her grip on her own arm.

She was trying her best to fight her urges but the pain returned again. This time it was so severe that Lilly fell from her chair.

" Ah!!!! ", she cried, falling down as the puppy licked her.

On seeing her falling, both Emma and Alex were about to run to her but stopped at the same time.

" Get up, Lilly. ", Emma shouted.

Lilly slowly pushed herself up and sat back on the chair.

" My vision is slowly getting blurred. ", she said, blinking her eyes continuously.

" Just don't lose your focus. ", came Alex's voice but then she was not able to hear anything else, as her eyes turned red and sharp white fangs appeared in her mouth.

Suddenly her eyes fell on the puppy beside her as she started losing focus and her thirst for blood got over her head.
