2 Reincarnated In The Past? Chapter 2

The next time she opened her eyes was next when she was being smashed into a large round surface.

*Growl*

A sudden pain came from her stomach.

Indigestion, perhaps? She thought to herself.

A sweet and enticing aroma began to drift into her nostrils from near the soft mound.

An inexplicable emotional and action overtook her body and before she could stop herself Veronica found herself drinking...what tasted like strange milk.

Veronica's face paled when she realized when she was doing but it was too late.

She had already shamed herself beyond measure by this action. Her eyesight had yet to recover so she was still unsure of her situation as well.

Veronica decided to just enjoy the moment while trying to recall her last memory before this strange but inescapable but dreamlike situation that she was suddenly thrust into.

A almost middle aged woman made her way home from a late night at the hospital ward, work had been tough.

She had seen a family watch as the life faded out of their 6 year old little girls eyes from a devastating battle with bone cancer that their child had only been openly fighting for a short few months before succumbing to her eternal rest.

Under her breath, Veronica sent a prayer to the lord up above for the girls eternal salvation in the arms of Christ.

It was a quiet drive home and when Veronica was about to exit the Highway to get off at the exit to her house, the strangest thing that ever happened to her just had to happen.

She saw the little girl who had just died appear before her car headlights on a night without moonlight. Waving her little what was once pale brown, but was now a healthy little brown hand in way that looked like she was saying goodbye to her doctor friend before going to heaven. Small light could be seen around the edges of her silhouette. The Little girl mouthed some words that Veronica didn't have the leisure to make out.

Logic dictated that this was just a trick of her mind but Veronica swerved her Aston Martin DBX on reflex, and ran off the road into a nearby deep, and watery slough just next to the highway exit.

A underwater submerged log went up ontop of her car due to the force of the impact into the water. Caving in the top of her car and a attached branch swung along into the car as it was submerged underwater and it shattered the luxury cars windshield. The branch was pointed at the end and stabbed right through her right shoulder and on into the driver seat she sat upon , thereby undoubtedly pinning her inside the car. And thereby trapping her in the driver's seat as water rushed into the Ashton cutting off her source of air quickly.

A pitch-black sight eneveloped all around her except for the murkey water just in front of her eyes that was slowly turning red with the blood that was gushing out of her. She could just make out the red hue in front of her due to the cars headlights still being on.

This is the end huh? Did that little girl know it was my time to die? Maybe she came to see me off.

"Goodbye little Ava, I'm sure your pet cat Avery is waiting for you in heaven to play again..."

Blurp Glug Brghh...

The bubbles that escaped her mouth were these very words, and her eyes closed for the last time in this world and everything turned dark after uttering them.

In the background minutes later sirens could be heard blaring but the dead do not answer...no matter how loud the sounds that go on after their departure.

Veronica awoke in a sweat and itmediatly gave out a little burp.

Oh my, she thought to herself.

!?

Dead people shouldn't burp...

Opening her little eyes, her vision was still not focused enough.

Veronica gave up and decided to just go back to sleep again.

Questioning things that cannot have answers given to them was a pointless waste to her energy.

She was exhausted after remembering her 'death'.

She decided to see if she was in the same place when she awoke next.

Unfortunately for Veronica the next time she opened her eyes sunshine blinded her retinas and she quickly closed her eyes again.

Only to hear some people talking nearby.

"My word Genevieve, another girl is it? What has your husband said on this matter?"

A elderly ladies voice could be heard questioning someone else. Veronica thought it was probably some lady named Genevieve do to the address the woman just called the other by.

"Yes, but look at little Miriam. You know what, I'm going to give her a second middle name. What should it be?"

The first woman responded, "Hmm, I quite like Mavis. Wasn't that an aunt of yours name? I hear it means little song bird. Miriam is certianly petite. Plus, the name miriam you gave her is quite... how should one put it...ah, depressing." Said the older woman.

Lady Genevieve sighed and looked at her youngest daughter. She felt regretful that in a bout of disappointment she had given this name for her most recent daughter.

"Rosminda, I know that my husband already has a legitimate son, Alard. And that other son of his Joseph from who knows which woman.

And I also heard from Lady Malory that she suspects he has one more additional son from a Irish Immigrant called Bannon."

"I just wanted to give him a son very badly. But I didn't mean to slight my poor daughter in the process. I suppose it's okay since her name is a respectable biblical name afterall. And the woman in the Bible did nothing wrong so it isn't shameful. I think I shall try one more time willingly to give Stephen a son."

The woman who Veronica assumed was Rosminda gave a small audible gasp.

"But Genevieve, your almost 30. Are you sure your body can handle it? Why just giving birth to little Miriam over there nearly killed ye this time." Rosmina said while raising her voice slightly in concern.

Lady Genevieve followed up by sharply rebuking Rosminda.

"I know you care for me, and have been with me since my childhood Rosminda, but please do remember your place. You are afterall just a white servant. People can be easily replaced on this plantation. I know that all too well..."

Lady Genevieve had a sorrowful look upon her pale complected face for a moment, before shaking her head vigorously and taking one last look at Miriam, before opening the door and exiting the room. As the door closed strongly behind her, it made a loud thwack sound!

Rosminda was jolted for a moment before a melancholic smile appeared upon her age riddled face, and she slowly made her way over to the crib in which Miriam lay.

Rosminda leaned her head down abit before saying to Veronica.

"Little Miriam I am plenty a

happy for you to be born in the privileged class, if not I'm afraid you'd be forced to toil away in this great Virginia of ours. But it could be worse I suppose. You could have the weight of a whole country on our shoulders like Queen Victoria of England does right now."

Veronica opened her eyes wide at hearing the name of Queen Victoria. Wasnt she dead for like hundreds of years.

And... why was this lady calling her Miriam?

Veronica suddenly remembered that there one only one Queen Victoria...

Could she have traveled too the past?

Veronica didn't know whether she should be happy or worried, because this must mean she's no longer dead.

But she just found out that she's in America.

She was living in Britian during the time of her accident.

There was no way she was still Veronica anymore, it just wasn't logically possible

"Well it was more of a one-sided chat but I think it was good anyway Miriam, have a good afternoon. This old lady has to go think of a way to get your mother to stop having her hissy fit."

Rosminda then exited the room as well, albeit in a much more normal, and gentle way that one should do when having a baby in the room.
