1 Calm before the storm

Chapter 1

At Yein hospital :

"What !!!!!"Felix was stunned looking at the reports. Felix a healthy 33-year-old man, never expected that he would be diagnosed with leukemia in his late 20s.Danny his best friend was specialized in treating leukemia and was the one who suggested to perform a full body checkup when Felix experienced frequent nosebleeds .

"I don't understand !!! why ? I .I....I..!!" Felix couldn't hold back his tears. He was experiencing a series of mixed emotions , anxiety , confusion , anger followed by a feeling of sadness. Many thoughts crossed his mind, 'am I gonna die ?','am I gonna suffer just like my mom?', 'what will happen to dad?'and Sera....'

As Danny witnessed his best friend who was always cheerful , kind, lively just like the sunshine , losing his mind, he couldn't help but feel an intense pain in his heart.

"Felix, I know its hard to digest but you have to be strong. I will recommend you to admit tomorrow and start chemotherapy as soon as possible . It will be okay , we all are with you...". Danny never expected that he will be saying these hollow words of hope to the person he cherished the most.

Felix was a psychologist , it was not hard for him to see through the lies of his best friend. He needed time to process this shock. He reached for the glass of water on the table. Danny sitting on the opposite side of the table, in his office , helped slide the glass.

"Danny ! a...about this ...! " Felix paused for a sec and catched his breath, and continued " About this report, don't say a word to my dad or Sera.." Felix's eyebrows frowned , it looked like he was determined with his decision, that is to keep his illness a secret.

"Felix, I understand your concerns and I wont disclose any information regarding this to uncle or Sera but you should know that longer you try to hide your illness the more hurt they will be, besides you need them no....."

Before Danny could finish his sentence , Felix stood up pushing the chair back , his head facing downwards. Tears rolling down his face caressed the ground. He gathered the last bit of courage left in him and raised his head. 'Danny , I  am heading back to my clinic , I will call you later.' And just like that he left the hospital in despair.
