98 Chapter 98

It was already mid day and Aaron was left sweating under the heat of the mid day sun. He should have went for the chairs and umbrella when he had the time. Now, he can't leave his stall unattended. He didn't knew when the judges would be making a round.

Another thing which left him dissapointed was that there were hardly anyone coming to his stall. People came to stall, saw his weapons lying and left without saying anything.

He was left thinking what was happening.

On the other side of his stall, Milano had quite a few people gathered around. He had created an artifact which could absord the heat around it. In a sense it was a heat sink.

Milano was a fire mage by class. He had somehow created a spell which absorbed the heat around the area of the spell effectively lowering the temperature of the area.

When he put that spell into an artifact, he created something like an air conditioner. Aaron knew such an invention was going to be a big hit among the people who could afford it. Gone were the days when they have sweat in the heat.

He had to give credit to Milano. He really was a genius when it came to inventing something new.

Rogan on the other side had a stall which looked similar to Aaron. He too didn't have anyone around his stall. He had a fire sword on display.

Rogan too was a fire mage. No wonder they had such competition between the two of them.

Fire sword wasn't something too unique in this world. But the use for it wasn't much. It would be great for a commoner, but they could hardly afford it.

A mage stone enchanted by a mage was expensive enough. And the material used to forge the sword which could sustain the use of fire was again expensive. It put the price if the sword pretty high.

Furthermore the claim that he had 'improved' the sword increased the price even more.

He still had more visitors than Aaron. A fire sword indeed was a cool artifact. Plus Rogan wasnt exactly a nobody like Aaron.

Rogan came to Aaron with a bag of water.

"Here, it's cold water. It will be good in this heat. "

"Thanks. I really needed it. " Said Aaron. Although he had his own stock of water in his ring, he wouldnt refuse a good intention.

It was obvious Rogan himself was bored at his stall.

"Even you are weapon maker. But sadly the market for enchanted wepaons is very poor. I myself have been presenting weapons at the fair for several years but have had minimum success." He said with a sigh.

"The demands for attacking weapons amongst mages isnt very high. And for common people, the cost is unaffordable. The rich could afford a few weapons but the ones they purchase are usually more pleasing to the eyes than the ones we produce. Plus there is a separate market for it. "

"Only ones which drive an interest from the mage community is defensive weapons. But the ones who could build defensive weapons are very few. They are in high demand and rarely have to put out a stall like this at a fair. "

"Most of the defensive weapons produced is made by the Oberisk family. Although they save the best for themselves, they still sell some in the open market. Their product fetch exorbitant prices at the auctions. "

Milano it seems was always behind Rogan. He handed over his stall to his assistants and headed over to Aaron's stall.

"No wonder you two get along so well. You both are crazy enough to make weapons. "

"You Rogan. What did you make this time? Don't tell me it's the improved fire sword again? "

"I wonder if you could sell more than last time. You only have to sell one sword to beat your own record. "

"Actually I have an idea. Seeing the success of my artifact, I offer to buy one of your sword at the end of the day for old times sake. You won't have to return empty handed that way. " Milano had a big smirk on his face when he said that.

His statement acted as salt to the wounds. Rogan was furious hearing that.

"Why don't you fight me Milano. I will show you how worthless my sword is." Rogan didn't have any comeback other than challenging Milano for a duel.

"Tsk. You should watch you say Rogan. You know after today, I might be part of the artifact council. You know Bernard had retired. There is a spot there and I have produced numerous goods over the years. I don't even have to put a stall any more for my products to sell. I just come here to see your rotten face at the end of the fair. I quite enjoy the view. " Milano was right though. He was one of the canditates for the council of the artifact division.

Rogan could end up in trouble for challenging such high ranked mage without any cause.

Rogan could just stand and grit his teeth.

"And you boy with the weapons. I think you have just tried to increase the sharpness of the weapons and tools? Such enchantments are common as clouds and almost every mage weaponsmith out such an enchantment on his product. You aren't the first. I would suggest you find something new to do and not get affected by him. " He said pointing at Rogan and left.

Although Milano had an old rivalry with Rogan, what he said to Aaron was for his own good. Weapon artifacting wasn't a booming business. Aaron was still young, if he spent his time on such a thing, he might waste his youth on such silly inventions. A sharpening spell was wasn't something new.

Watching Milano leave, Rogan turned towards Aaron.

"He might be a moron, but he wasn't wrong. You should stop wasting time on weapons. I am belittling you or your talent. I am just saying that these aren't that profitable. If you want to make weapons, I get it. Sometimes you have to follow your heart. Just don't focus on it too much and try to keep it as a hobby instead of focusing on it wholeheartedly. "

Aaron understood what the two men were trying to say to him. But they had never even tried to check the weapons Aaron had.

"Mr. Rogan. I understand your concern. But trust me when I say I am not on the wrong path. " Aaron said.

Rogan was already shaking his head by the time Aaron finished saying that.

"It's not you, it's the youth talking. I was like you. I thought I could do something what nobody else had done before. "

"I can't force you to do something you don't want. Just take what I said as an old man's rambling. "

He turned to leave, obviously dissapointed with the attitude of a hard headed youth.

"I really haven't wasted my time. " Said Aaron from behind.

"I could prove it to you. "
