88 Chapter 88

There was a person sobbing inside the carriage. Aaron was sure about that. As to why the person stayed inside during the event, Aaron could just guess.

Should he leave the scene? He might get involved in the whole case he chose to stay. The person surely belonged to the Jhonson family. They would surely tell everyone about Aaron.

But what if Deviere came back alive. He would tell everyone about him as well.

He sighed after some contemplation. He couldn't leave a person like that anyway. How would they travel this grassland alone anyways? For sure whoever was inside wasn't strong enough else they would have been out facing the attackers.

He still didnt take any chance and had a dagger besides him ready. He slowly approached the carriage.

Once he saw no apparent movement, he opened the gate with a single pull.

"No.... No... Stay away...." Came the scared voice of a young girl.

Aaron saw a young girl sitting with her knees up and hiding her face. Her clothes were dishelved and she looked so small bundled out like that. To Aaron's surprise she was wearing a mage robe.

It looked like she had been crying for a while. She didn't know what had happened outside the carriage. She probably thought it was Diviere who came back.

Aaron was really saddened by the sobbing girl. It was apparent what had happened. The Diviere fellow seemed to be taking advantage of the young girl. The attack turned to be lucky for the girl.

Aaron couldn't just leave the girl like that now.

"Uh.. Diviere isn't here. He was just kidnapped. I happened to be passing by and saw this carriage. You can come out now. "

The girl made a tiny movement hearing that. She took a small peek at Aaron to make sure it wasn't Diviere. She had a little look of surprise and distrust on her face.

"Yes. He is gone. The rest of your party... Well they won't be able to do anything to you either. Come out. Do you want some water? "

The girl wasn't in a position to say something. But the prospect of water seemed to make her come to a decision. She gave a tiny nod.

"It's alright take your time. I will wait outside."

Aaron gave her some space and stepped to a side as to not look inside the carriage.

Aaron had no idea how to handle such situations. He tried his best to be polite to the girl. He still couldn't wrap his head around the whole situation though.

Wasn't she a mage? A mage robe said she was. Or was Diviere enjoying his fetish?

But if she was a mage, why didnt she fight back? Wasn't Diviere afraid of the actions that might have been taken against him.

Only the girl could tell him. But he didn't think it would be good to ask such questions of her for the time being.

He quietly waited for the girl to come out as he got some water out of his space ring. He had to wait for some time.

The girl finally managed enough courage and stepped out of the carriage.

He clothes had been arranged and the tear strodden face was wiped. But Aaron could see the red eyes almost on the verge of crying again.

He sympathized with her.

The other thing which Aaron noticed was that he could recognize the girl.

He hair had grown a little longer now from the short hair earlier. But it was definitely her.

The girl he met at the restaurant. The one for whom he paid for the food. Aaron took another glance at her to confirm she was her.

The girl turned stiff at the glance.

Aaron probably frightened her with that look.

He didn't say anything and motioned for her to take the water.

She gingerly took a step. As Aaron tried to move towards her she once again stood rooted at her position.

Aaron decided to stop. He just stretched his hand and held the water bag towards her.

The girl slowly moved and took the water bag.

She kept an eye towards Aaron as she took a gulp. She coughed out the water.

"Don't hurry. I am not going to do anything to you. Take your time. "

The girl was really scared. Aaron could see that.

That fellow seriously did a number on her.

But who wouldn't be scared after being through that.

The girl though did heed Aaron's words and slowly drank the water. She tried to pass over the bag to Aaron .

"It's alright. I have lots of it . You could drink more if you want or wash your face."

Maybe that would help. Aaron thought.

The girl once again heard him and did as she was told.

The bad was empty by the time she was done. As she passed the empty bag to Aaron she seemed to be ashamed of the act.

"As I said. I have lots of it. I have a space ring full of water. Don't worry. "

The girl seemed to calm down a little hearing that.

No one spoke after that for a while.

It was very awkward for Aaron. What should he say? Or should he say anything at all. He didn't know.

It was turning more awkward by the minute.

Aaron finally decided to take a step and say something.

"You are that girl from the restaurant."

"Than.... Than... Thank you."

Both of them said at the same time.

The girl still looked shaken. But hearing Aaron's word she did seem to recognize him. Although he was wearing a robe now, he was infact that mage who paid for her that day.

"Yyyyesss. You are Aaaa...aron."

Aaron was surprised that the girl remembered her name.

"Yes I am. You remembered my name. I am sorry to say that although I remember you, I don't remember your name. " Aaron said with an awkward expression which said he was embarrassed for not remembering her name when she had remembered his.

That funny look on Aaron's face had a relaxing effect on the girl.

"I am Katrina. " That was first sentence she said without stuttering.

"Ah. Yes. I remember it now."

Both of them went silent again.

The awkward silence.

Aaron didn't have any clue on what to say now.

The girl though saved Aaron this time.

"Thank you. For that day. And today."

"No need for that. I just paid a few coins that day. "

"And today, I didn't do anything at all. I just gave you some water. "

It was the truth though. Aaron had actually tried to save Diviere. Not her. He had failed in his attempts and that was the only reason he could find her. He didn't say it to her ofcourse.

"Still. If you weren't here I won't know what to do. I would have probably stayed in there for a long time. "

"You would have come out eventually. Don't worry. "

"What happened to Di..Di..." She couldn't make herself say his name.

"Diviere was kidnapped by some people. By the time I could help, they had escaped with a space gate. As the other people with you guys, four of them are dead. Was there anyone else. "

She shook her head as a reply.

"I see. "

Aaron decided not to let silence stretch this time. He asked the ice breaker question.

"Would you like to eat something?"

The girl once again shook her head.

It seemed that question didn't work in this situation.

"What do you want to do now?" Aaron finally asked something of importance.

"I don't know" was the answer.
