83 Chapter 83

The threat of the magical beasts was a growing concern on the other side.

Thunder king had told him that the number of magic beasts were increasing in number and the number of casualities of mages were increasing in number too.

Each year the Mage association could only produce that many mages.

Yes, they were holding the border for now. But Aaron had seen first hand how vicious the beasts were.

Some of the beasts he had seen were even stronger than the ones he was told about.

What would happen when they started appearing frequently at the border.

What would happen to the mages then?

Another question Aaron didn't want to answer was what would happen when the border was lost?

When the beasts started attacking human cities, would humans even be able to survive?

What would happen to his family? His parents. His sister. Mr. Anderson.

Thinking about it gave Aaron the chills.

For all he wanted to blame Thunder king, he had to agree that he was at least trying to do something.

Aaron might have been forced on this path, but he now considered it as something he had to do. He had to find a way to save the people he cared for on the other side. Not only the ones he cared for. Could he actually watch everyone else die while he saved his loved ones? Would his conscience allow it?

Worst thing was that he didn't knew whether if Thunder king had survived?

If he did, where was he?

If he didnt, was the whole responsibility lying on his shoulder now?

A year ago, he didnt even have a clue about what was happening. He was happy with his life.

He had a respectable job and had made a friend.

Now, a year later, everything was different. He was much stronger than what he used to be. But he felt weaker.

Although he knew he had time, he still needed to get a lot done.

He had to get strong. Climb up the association ladder.

Find out the history.

And when he manages to do that, then what? Was it guaranteed that the history would provide solution to the problem?

He believed he would find that answer only when he reached that position. For now, he had to concentrate on the present.

It had been a month since Aaron had been travelling. He was in a hurry at first. He travelled as much as he could each day.

He only stayed at towns or cities he came across at nights. During the day, he spent most of his time on travelling.

The places without a gate was most difficult for him to travel.

He got maps and directions, he still ended up getting lost a lot of times.

How he missed the maps so conviently available on the phones on earth.

He wondered what would it be like of there was one in this world.

But that wouldnt work even if he had a phone. This world lacked sattelites, so forget such accurate mapping.

The journey for Aaron had become very monotonous. But after he had contemplated about the situation, he realized one thing, he didn't need to hurry that much.

Sure, he can't slack off but he could take his time.

Moreover, he had looked at it the wrong way. This wasn't a simple journey. This journey would allow him to know this world better.

If he needed to act like someone who belonged in this world, he would need to act like one.

He knew he had gotten away with suspicion till now just because of luck and the Mage association was hungry for talent. But that would only take him that far.

This was the best possible time for him to learn of this world and it's culture. He didn't need to spend a lot of time at a single place, so even if someone started to get suspicious about him, Aaron would have already left.

Walking a mile taught more than reading a 100 books. And he would be travelling a lot of miles.

So he decided he would spend some time on his journey. He knew he could make the time up with his gates.

Later, Aaron would perhaps realize that this was one of the best decision he had ever made.

It was evening by the time Aaron reached the city called Ceramica.

He reached the city via a gate of the Mage association. He could have used another gate to leave immediately following the procedures. But he decided to rest and explore this city for a bit. The next stop was a small town and he would have to travel on the road from there.

This place provided the perfect rest stop for him. Inns at larger cities were always better than the ones at the smaller towns. And although was poor for a mage, as a normal person he could easily afford such inns.

But as Aaron was about to leave the mage association, he saw a commotion at the gate.

"You can't enter here. How many times do we have to tell you? " Said a guard to a Man.

The man was short in height with a big belly and a balding head. He reminded Aaron of a certain movie Actor from earth.

"I just want to have a look. That's all. I have heard of a device which can convey information over long distances. I just want to have a look." the man pleaded.

"No. The mages have refused you so many times earlier. You are not allowed to step in. If you continue making rucksus here, don't blame if we imprison you. "

That statement seemed to have taken the air out of his sails.

He turned back and left with a sad face.

Later that night when Aaron was having Dinner at the inn he was staying at, Aaron found the same guy sitting in a corner and helping himself to a drink. He looked solemn and was Aaron.

Aaron was interested as to why was the guy so interested in the system tablet?

Aaron approached him.

"May I join you. " Aaron asked the man.

"Sure, why not. I won't be paying for your drinks though. " The man replied even without looking at Aaron.

Aaron sat on the chair opposite to the man.

"I am Aaron." With that Aaron lifted the mug on his table with his telekinesis.

Aaron now had his complete attention.

"You.... You... You are a m...m.. mage!" The man was full of excitement.

"Yes, I am. And who are you?"

"I am Devito. A scientist."
