80 Chapter 80

"Buy me another plate of this meat. It's really good. "

Aaron stared at the man. Was it a joke?

"Don't look at me like that. I really did like it. "

"And it is all I want. I will even tell you why. "

"Okay. I am listening. " Aaron said. And he did order a plate of that fried meat.

"What do you know about the Anti mage association?"

Aaron once again stared at the man. He actually knew nothing about it. He lacked the basic knowledge a mage on this side had.

"Okay. So you know nothing. "

"Let me tell you from the beginning."

"The Anti mage Association was formed by a powerful mage who originally belonged to the Mage association. He fell out of favor because of his ideas which other mages considered to be rebellious."

"If you have read the history of the great war, you might have got the feeling that it's made up. Right? "

"But no matter how made up it sounds, but if you are taught the same thing over and over again since you were a child, it appears to be true. "

"And it was so long go that people accept it with a pinch of salt. They know that even if the history is manipulated, nothing happened in the past 10000 yeras which effected them in any way. So they choose to go with it."

"Our founder was the same. He believed the mage association and was a hardcore believer in their teachings. "

"But as he began to climb in stature within the organization, he got more access to the records. From some of what he read, he found clues that the whole thing relating to the great war was fabricated. "

"He began searching in depth. He found lots of other parts of the history which seemed to be different than what was taken for a fact. These discrepancies led him to believe that the mages where controllong the history of the whole world."

"They only told the world what they chose. They didn't only keep the common populous in the dark, they also kept other mages in the dark. "

"Or founder went to the higher ups in the association. He had long discussions with them. He wanted them to disclose what they knew. He wanted them to open up to the world about the truth. "

"They sent him away empty handed and a warning to keep his mouth shut and not disrupt the harmony of things. "

"He stayed low and tried to gather the actual history. "

"When the people above knew about this, they sent a team to kill him. He some how escaped with his life. "

"He went to different families with his findings. No one was interested in what he knew. No one was interested in the history. They were focussed on the now and the future. They tried to use him as a chess piece against the mage association. "

"He ran away from that too. "

"He found shelter in a village of common people. He saw how they lived such a simple life. "

"Staying there he finally found the Anti mage association."

"His intention was never to be against the mages, his association was formed to be against what the mage association stood for. He wanted commoners to have same status of that of a mage. He wanted everyone to know everything. "

"His intentions were to form a association strong enough to pressure the mage association into revealing the details they have hidden. "

"But he perhaps was too eager. He tried to climb too fast and the mage association had an old history of 10000 years. Their influence on society and people was too deep. "

"They spread rumours that the anti mage association was against the mages. That we kidnap people and torture them. "

"The fact is that we get tortured for information if we get caught by them."

"The anti mage association soon lost the support it had gained and our founder also passed away due to his deteriorating health."

"The Anti mage had survived in the shadows for the past 100 years. "

"There were some mages who showed sympathy for our cause and supported us behind the scenes. Helping us continue our existence."

"But now the time for change has come. We have bided our time and under new leadership we are ready to take hold of what we once aimed for."

"The reason I told you everything was not for recruitment. I want you to know the truth. I want every mage who is willing to know the truth. "

"Seek answers for yourself. Don't be led blindly by what the mage association teaches you."

"If you are successful in doing that, help us then. That will be payment enough."

"Now order me another plate of this."

Aaron was digesting all he was told. His assumptions were true. The mage association was indeed hiding something.

He did order the man another plate.

"How can I find what even your founder couldn't? "

"For all his qualities, our founder had one fault. " The man said between chewing.

"He was too eager. He went to people after only finding clues. "

"If he had tried to stay in the association and climb up the ladder to the top, he would have found about it eventually. "

"But he didn't. "

"If you really do want to know, you gave two options."

"Either wait for us to succeed or reach the top by yourself. "

With that he focussed on eating not even caring whether Aaron was there or not.

Aaron wasn't too interested in the history of the mage Association. He summarized that they were indeed a low level organization at the present.

What the old man pitched was an indirect recruitment pitch. He didn't want Aaron to do anything now. But if Aaron was successful, he wanted the information. He played it on conscience. A perfect sleeper agent.

Only thing Aaron didn't knew was that how many such agents the Association had?

"Okay. I am going to leave. If you ever have to contact me again, you would have to find one of our men. As to how to find them, that is upon you. "

"I would appreciate if you didn't kill them this time though. We are few in numbers you know. " With that the man finished his plate and got up to leave.

"Wait" Aaron said.

"What do I call you?"

"Call me Hound. " With that he showed Aaron his canines and left.
