7 Chapter 7

When the middle aged man put his hands on the sphere, Aaron felt a tingling sensation through out his body.

It was not a sensation which he had ever felt. It was completely new.

It seemed like he could feel the blood flowing through his veins. No, not even that. It felt like something gentle flowed inside him, caressing his very soul. It was very hard to describe what it felt like.

It was surreal. Soon the sphere which was dormant till now began to glow with a bright white light.

Seeing the scene all the three other participants were astonished. How can a kid from such a small place succeed when they couldnt. It was hard to believe but reality was in front of them.

"Talent unblocked. You have the aptitude to be a mage. Your attribute is space. Come outside, I will talk with the one who brought you and explain further."

Hearing that Aaron was happy. He was finally going to be a mage? For real? That was unbelievable. A man from earth born in a new world and now was going to be mage. Aaron couldn't tell whether he was lucky or unlucky.

He knew the middle aged person thought him to be kid and it was better to talk to a grown up. He couldn't blame the guy. Who could peek inside his head and see that he was a grownup inside.

As Aaron was walking out of the testing room, all kinds of thoughts were going through his head. After coming to this world, it was this thing, magic which made it really different from earth.

He wondered what would it be like to have this kind of power. As he came out, he saw the other kids and their retainers looking at him with envy. They probably felt like he didnt deserve to be a mage with them being not selected. But they didn't say a single word of disagreement. No one dared to question the mages.

Aaron ignored them and followed the middle aged man towards Anderson.

"Congratulations, Anderson was it? Your ward has talent to become mage. Its a big acheivement for the entire region. You should know in the kingdom of Rensworth, Rivertown is one of the two mage testing centre. Its already been many years since a mage was successfully tested from our centre. Its a joyous occasion for all of us. Come join me for a drink tonight. I will inform you about the procedures to follow. "

"But for now, I need to make a report." The middle aged man enthusiastically said to Anderson.

Hearing him speak, Anderson was trully shocked. He knew Aaron was a talented kid, but he never imagined him to have the potential to be a mage. It was indeed a joyous occasion. A student of his was going to be a mage. This gave him immense bragging rights. Let those other old fellows brag about their students now. He would grind them to dust.

He thanked the middle aged man for his invitation and took leave from him.

"Aaron my boy. You have truly made this old man happy. You have no idea what it means to have been successfully tested. I just hope it doesn't get to your head. I cant wait to tell your parents about this."

"Mike and Mira will be mad with joy over this. Lets go to the inn for now."

"I will sort out the details with the mage stationed here later."

"Finally I feel hungry enough to eat. I am going to order a big meal to celebrate this."

Aaron could see that Anderson was full of excitement. Seeing that brought a pleasant feeling to him. Maybe this is what they called being happy for others?

After they reached the inn and rested for a while, it was time for lunch. Anderson ordered a variety of items for lunch as he had promised earlier. Aaron too, ate with gusto. After lunch Anderson asked if Aaron wanted to see the "city".

Although the city didnt bring any excitement to him, he thought it was still better than staying in his room.

He spent the afternoon strolling in the streets while Anderson pointed several things to Aaron. He knew Anderson was trying to broaden his horizon. He also knew that Anderson was very good to him even before he was tested sucessfully. Now he was treated even better.

He wondered if Anderson had any family. He never seemed to talk about it. As he kept thinking, evening drew near.

Anderson dropped him off at the inn and headed to meet the mage representative.

As Aaron laid in bed that night, he knew it was perhaps the most important day of his new life. It was a day when he was successfully tested as a mage. Alrhough after the testing concluded, it was a regular normal day. The high faded away quickly. Only if he knew what laid in the future, what he would give to have this day not happened at all.
