71 Chapter 71

Aaron had indeed planned on visiting the city. He wanted to explore and see how different was this place to the other side and also if he could find some information.

He visited the market first. It would give him the a good idea of the place.

He recognized some of the things sold here and some he didn't. It was his first time seeing some of the fruits and vegetables. They may have evolved a little differently here.

As he was strolling around, he came across a shop which seemed to be selling magic artifacts. Now this one was something Aaron was interested in.

When he entered the store, he was surprised to see that the store was manned by a mage.

"Hello young mage. How may I help you? " The mage handling the store was polite enough to Aaron.

"I am sorry, I am just looking around. "

"Okay. Call me if you need me. "

Aaron was happy that this place accepted window shopping.

Exploring the store he found several artifacts which Aaron thought were very benificial for him. For example a magic robe which cleaned itself.

He found bright stones. Which were handheld light sources which brightened your surroundings. Space rings were sold here as well. Also there was a kind of artifact stove for cooking and providing warmth.

This was the first time Aaron saw magical artifacts being sold so openly.

The prices for the artifacts were listed in magestones. It astonished Aaron as how a thing which had one magestone attached to it would cost several mage stones? The profit generated by this endeavor was huge.

The store had a lot of miscellaneous items, but there wasn't any offensive or defensive artifacts. Infact there wasn't anything eye-catching.

Aaron decided to ask the shop keeper this.

"Ofcourse. We are only allowed to sell the miscellaneous products. Everything else is sold by the association and the families. They aren't sold in the market and only internally available. How come you didn't know this? "

"Sorry, I am new here. I just appeared for the mage association test and yet to receive my badge. I don't know all the rules." Aaron explained.

"It's okay in that case. "

Aaron browsed through the store for a while more. But he didn't find anything he could afford.

It was already afternoon when Aaron found a place for lunch. From what he was told by the shopkeeper, this one was one of the better places to eat in the city.

The place wasn't really big, but looked clean and we'll maintained. As Aaron approached the door, he was greeted by the doormen.

"Welcome Sir Mage to our establishment. Would you like a table for one?"

Aaron was soon pointed towards a table at a corner. He ordered a few dishes as he was suggested by the waiter. He was quitely having his meal when he heard a commotion.

"You need to pay your bill even if you are mage. And if you are a mage in the first place, where is your robe. Don't try to hoodwink us.!"

The party was a young girl about 18 years of age. She wore a simple dress and had a blush on her face, perhaps from the situation she was in. She was good looking, not drop dead gorgeous but good facial features.

She had short black hair with a fair skin tone.

"I am a mage." She replied and produced a floating ball of light above her palms.

"It's just that I am new to this place. I was supposed to report to the Jhonson family. I was a little hungry and decided to eat before going there. I didn't know you guys were so expensive. I am just a little short of the bill. "

"I promise I would pay you after I report."

"Miss, you might be from the Jhonson family, but we are from the Xia family as well. Just because you are a mage doesn't mean you won't pay."

The man knew the girl definitely wasn't someone important in the Johnson family. Otherwise she wouldn't be here in this outfit and out of money.

"I never said I won't pay. I am saying, I would pay a little later. There is a difference."

"I don't know that. Pay first then leave, else I would report it to the mage association. "

The girl was flabbergasted. She didn't know what to do. If they reported her, she didn't know how the Jhonson family would react. She was apprenticed under a mage at her village and this was her first time in a city. She really didn't expect the place to be this expensive. She was stuck in a predicament and wondered what she would do.

"Add the bill on my table. I will pay for the lady. " Came the voice of Aaeon.

The girl looked up and saw a young mage dressed in a brown robe sitting at a table not far from hers.

The man berating the girl also quieted down hearing Aaron speak. He knew he couldnt do anything after that. Although he was from the Xia family, he was a common man. He couldn't pressurize the other mage now even if they were from a rival family.

The girl walked up to Aaron.

"Thank you. You have helped me today. I will remember this."

"It's okay. Just one person helping out another. "

"I will definitely pay you back after I get paid. Tell me where you are staying."

"Actually I am leaving soon. I don't stay here. And it's just a small amount. You don't need to worry. "

Aaron pulled the excuse of leaving. He didn't want to get himself involved for such a small amount.

"No, I need to pay you back. It would keep on bothering me otherwise."

"As I said, it's absolutely okay. Tell you what, next time just feed someone in need. That will even us out. "

The girl gave up after hearing this.

"I will still remember the favour and definitely pay back if we meet again."

"I am Katrina. I will be joining the Johnson family. What's your name?"

"I am Aaron. I will be joining the mage association."

With that Aaron paid his bill and left. He somehow couldn't get the image of the girl out his head. He shook his head and kept walking.

The girl left too. "Aaron", she muttered under her breath.
