"Some information would be good. What is the forbidden forest? Who are the anti mage society?" Aaron asked.

The old man stared at Aaron as if he was stupid.

"Looks like the amnesia has indeed hit you pretty bad. " The old man finally answered.

"Forbidden forest is ofcourse the the part of the area where the great war pushed back. Beyond it is the barrier where the enemies were banished too. The mage association dont want people snooping around that area. So they forbid everyone from entering the area."

"Ofcourse mages could gain access with permission, the guards are supposed to stop anyone else. But the budget for the guards is getting tighter and the guards arent doing what they are supposed to do since nothing serious has ever been reported."

"You should know these things though. Its basic history of the world. Maybe you knew but forgot. "

Aaron loved how people assumed things if you let them.

But one thing was sure, he needed to find the history of the world.

"The anti magic society now. They are a group of terrorists. They think the mages have too much control of the world even when we stay away from common politics. They want mages out of power and want common people to have more power. Bunch of idiotic people if you trust me. "

Now that sounded interesting. People on the other side didnt even have the notion to protest against the mages. The situation sure was different here. There was at least some unrest umong the masses against the mages. And assuming from how they spoke, they were bent on the path of violence.

"Forbidden forest, with the lack of security now provides the best safe haven for the Anti mage society."

"Previously they mostly held protests and the mage association turned a blind eye towards them. But since last few years, they are turning violent. They kidnap young, inexperienced and non combat class mages. There have been ransom demands and outright killing in some cases." The old man explained the situation in short.

These protests sounded more like what he was used to seeing on earth. People were always protesting against one thing or another. And sometimes it did get violent. It usually had some people behind the scenes who staged the whole thing for personal gains.

"Can I have letter of reference for the Identity papers?" Aaron finally asked. He was here for that purpose initially.

"If you were a common person, it would be easy to provide a letter of recommendation. But you being a mage in situation you are in, makes it tricky. "

" What we can provide is a temporary solution for your problem. We can give a letter of reference which you can use to pass through check points. You will need to visit the branch at Blossom city for further assessment. They have a system in place to check if you were previously registered with the association or not. The mage badge would be provided to you after the assessment."

"Is that okay with you?" The old man confirmed with Aaron.

What is this all about? Looks like the mage association had a totally different system as compared to the one on the other side. And what's with these check points? He was a space mage. These points meant nothing to him.

"Yes that would be fine. Thank you. " Aaron was polite with his reply.

"I wanted to know, could I find some books to read? The mage association must have a library right?" Aaron asked.

"Why would we have a library at such a small branch? Only the bigger ones have them. And you atleast need to be a Green level mage to have access to them for free. I would suggest you the local book store. Being a green level mage is still beyond you by some years at least. "

Green level mage? What was he even talking about. Weren't mages classes as Master, Grand Master and Arch mages? He was an arch mage if he thought about it. He did invent a new spell. But what was this Green level? Was it a different class system that this world followed? There was just too much that he didn't knew about this world. He needed information.

He was afraid to ask too much from the old man. An excuse of memory loss could only go so far. And he mostly got away because he still looked young. Younger people raised lesser doubts. And all the injuries on his body confirmed his story. If there was an expert, they could perhaps tell that these injuries weren't caused by a person, but there was none present. It was a good thing that he found this small branch first.

He decided he will start finding some answers and prepare to go to this Blossom city.

"Oh. Please wear a robe. These clothes are an insult to a mage. A mage is supposed to wear robes at all times. Thats what separates us from the common masses. If you had been wearing a robe the first time you entered, we wouldn't have gotten off on a wrong foot. "

Robe? He didn't have any robe. He didn't even have any other piece of clothing other than what he was wearing.

"Sorry. I just had these set of clothes. I didn't have any money to get new ones."

"Can I ask the association to provide me some clothes and a carriage for my journey?" Aaron asked.

"Why would the association provide you with those? You would need to pay for those. If you don't have money, you could always exchange something with the association though. "

The association didn't even provide even these basic facilities to mages? Aaron was too used to the facilities provided for free by the mage association on the other side. He always took it for granted. He had to stop assuming that the two associations worked in the same way. He could get in trouble because of that.

But the problem was that he didn't have anything on him except the sword, the dagger and the space ring amulet which was useless right now. He knew he had to sell one of the mage stones in order to get enough funds.

He decided to sell the amulet. It was useless and it reminded him of that swindling bastard Thunder king. At least his amulet could help Aaron get fed and clothed. He took out the amulet to sell it.

"What? Only 50 gold coins for this stone?" Aaron was shocked at the price he was offered for the mage stone.

"How much do you expect it to be? You are getting 50 because you are selling to the association. Outside you won't get more than 40. " The old man replied.

"The size isn't large either and it already has a spell imprinted upon it. The quality isnt that great either. I don't know who imprinted a spatial spell on it in the first place. Such a waste."

Aaron still couldn't believe it. He had some idea of the value of currency in this world. Abraham had sold the two bags of mushroom for 10 gold. He said it was enough to last him for food and general expense for a month at least.

By that account, a mage stone should have been more valuable than a mere 50 gold. And what was this about the size and quality? It was the general size in use and there quality associated with a mage stone? Aaron really hated not knowing what was going on.

Seeing his expressions the old man said "You could go and get it checked outside if you don't trust me. But what I said is true. The stones of this size and quality is quite common. It isn't that rare. If it was of the high grade, you could get up to 1500 gold coins. "

High grade? Stones this quality is common. Wasn't mage stones supposed to be rare? He had no answers.

He still decided to go with the old man. He didn't have many options either way and didn't want to offend the old fellow. Aaron didn't want to appear too suspicious. He did think he might be cast under suspicion if he sold it too cheaply too. But that would just make him a fool, not a culprit.

Aaron got paid in notes. Another improvement over the other side.

With the money in hand, Aaron went to see what this hype was about the robe.
