5 Chapter 5

Sitting on the carriage, the journey to Rivertown wasnt as adventurous as Aaron expected it to be after reading all the fantasy books when he was back on earth.

No wild animals or bandits attacked. No random mystical person appeared or finding a princess in distress.

He didn't find a single mythical ruin or took shelters in abandoned houses or caves.

He wondered about the state of law and order in the land and asked the same of his teacher.

"There are indeed wild animals. But they stay far from the roads taken by the carriages else they would be hunted. Also there are rumours of magical beasts but one hasn't appeared in our area for hundreds of years. "

"Even if they appear, there are mages to take care of them. You don't have to worry about it at all. "

"There are some bandits in this area though, thats one of the reasons your father wants you to be strong enough to protect yourself. Lets hope we dont meet any on our journey. Your teacher doesn't want to excercise his old bones too much."

Looks like this world might have magical beasts. Do they even have something like a dragon? He knew he would get his answers in the future but thinking about a dragon left him excited.

Rivertown was only a days journey away from Willows den. It was late evening by the time they safely reached the town gate. Rivertown was really big compared to Willows den. But being from the modern age, it would take something really amazing to shock Aaron.

"How do you like Rivertown? Its the second largest city after the capital and only the second in the state to have a mage testing centre" Anderson thought the young kid besides him must be amazed by the sheer size of the city.

"I cant believe how big it is. So many people living together." Aaron pretended to be amazed.

Seeing his amazed expression, Anderson was slightly happy, wondering finally that kid has a normal reaction. Only if he knew the truth.

Anderson took Aaron to an inn.

"You better wash your face, have dinner and sleep early tonight. Tomorrow is an important day in your life."

Aaron nodded towards this and moved to do as told.

Soon after having dinner, he went to bed. He started thinking about what if he truly had the ability to be a mage? That would be really amazing.

That made him smile. That night he tried to feel the source as described in so many books. Find the dantian, find the chakra? Something? None of it seems to work. He started to feel tired afterwards.

His body was of a 8 year old kid. The long journey did tire him out. He decided to heed Anderson's words and called it a night.
