58 Chapter 58

Aaron was facing two beasts. A python like creature which reminded him of a certain movie and a overgrown rat.

Aaron created another gate and dodged a rock bullet that the python fired at him.

The rock smoothly went into one gate and came out the another facing the rat.

The rat was quick enough to move out of the way too.

He still couldnt get enough distance on these instant gates.

It was almost 5 months since he had been stuck in the desolate area. He had been scratched, bruised and burned but had somehow managed to stay alive.

He was always careful when he moved around with a gate. He inspected the area first to make sure no danger is lurking, only then did he fully come out of it. He escaped if he saw a beast lurking. The beasts which he faced mostly was during the nights. He could detect them at 50 metres now. But it still didnt give him enough time to collect his tent and move. He didnt want to loose his tent and belongings. Surviving without it would be very difficult indeed. He had already lost a couple and couldnt afford to loose his final one. He fought with all he had. The worst thing about these beasts was that they were completely useless once dead. The meat was inedible and the skin and bones all lost its properties in a few days. It would dry off and crumble. It was like only magic was holding it together all this time.

He was really good at fighting these beasts by now though. He had improved his atomic blade by a large degree. He could now at least stab most beasts directly, cutting the high defense beasts was still difficult.

Most important improvement had been with his portals. He could create instant gates the size of a human for a diatance of about 5 metres. It took him almost no time to create such gates. The beasts with fast enough reactions still managed to avoid these gates unless they were really angry or hurt. The best use had been for avoiding the long range attacks by the beasts. Like with the phython now.

This wasnt the first time Aaron faced a two prong attack either. He was hurt pretty bad the first time he did, but got better with time.

This was a difficult combo in front of him this time though.

The python had the best defense he had seen. He could hardly cut it. Stabbing the body of a python a few times seems to have no effect on it at all. The python would mostly stand its ground and just keep on shooting rock bullets at him. It was fast enough to keep Aaron busy and make it hard for him to kill it.

The rat was fast. Very fast. The worst was its ability to teleport. It could literally teleport over a distance of couple of metres. Making it an absurdly difficult target to kill and defend against.

Aaron was bleeding from his elbow which he had hurt while diving out of the way from one of the bullets he hadnt managed to dodge with a gate.

The two beasts were pushing him. He had to find a way to deal with them fast.

The rat and the snake seemed to have an understanding about killing him.

They were natural enimies. They should be killing each other, cursed Aaron.

The python fired rock bullets at Aaron trying to push Aaron towards the rat.

Aaron had been using his weapons to attack the rat to keep it in check while he used gates to dodge the rock bullets. But this was a defensive technique.

As the python fired two more bullets at Aaron, Aaron opened two gates and changed their trajectory to attack the rat.

The rat dodged one of the rocks by its movement but had to teleport forward to dodge the another one. The teleport brought him face to face with Aaron.

Seeing Aaron so near, it jumped at Aaron.

This was the moment was waiting for.

Aaron was waiting for the Rat to make an attack while it was in midair.

He knew from experience that if he opened a gate right now to cut the rat, it would just teleport. So he waited for the right moment. As the rat approached nearer, Aaron waited. As it was upon him and and the rat opened its mouth to bite him, Aaron opened two gates. One gate was facing the rat with its edge. That gate only opened a few milliseconds later than the first one which opened right below Aaron's feet. Aaron had been waiting for it. The rat was sure enough that it had its prey leaving it no time to teleport and crash into the gate edge in the position Aaron was previously standing at while Aaron had moved with the gate being opened right beneath him. He fell feet first 4 metres away from a gate suspended about 2 metres above the ground.

Aaron had used the same move a few times to kill beasts as nimble as that rat.

The rat was killed instantly. Aaron turned towards the python now.

The python still kept firing the Rock bullets at him.

Aaron knew how to deal with the pythons though.

Stabbing it a few times didnt have much effect. But Aaron stabbed it multiple times around its neck.

The python kept firing the rock bullets and Aaron kept on dodging it while stabbing the python whenever he could. It took him a long time, but he was finally able to remove its head and kill it.

He felt tired after it and went into his tent and had a good sleep without worrying about the carcasses outside. They didn't cause any unease anymore. What worried him was the decision he had to make.

Next morning as Aaron woke up. He knew the time was approaching and he had to make a decision. He had been searching for the right way back for over 5 months now with no success. His supplies were dwindling and he had no ways to refill them. The desolate area didnt have anything at all.

He could keep searching and finally die hungry and thirsty. The supply may last him 2 more months if he used it wisely.

Or the second option was the brown silhoutte. Follow the footsteps of Thunder king and move towards the so called main world. But what if he didnt find anything after reaching the end? Could he still afford more days searching for the way back? Will he have sufficient time left to travel towards the silhoutte?

Aaron needed answers for those questions. He missed his parents. His father always had some advice for him. He felt lost. He didnt travel anywhere that day. But by the end of the day, he had made his decision.
