52 Chapter 52

As he waited for the week to pass, Aaron had several emotions going through his head. He knew he was forced into agreeing with Thunder king due to the situation he was in. But it still left a guilty feeling in his heart. He would somehow get through this. Get strong enough and find Thunder king someday. But what would he do after finding Thunder king? Arrest him? Authorities wouldnt do anything to him. Kill him? Aaron was not a killer. He hasn't even killed an animal in all his life. Taking the life of a human was not something he had ever thought he would do.

He decided he would find answer for those questions when the time for them would come. For now he needed to get strong.

He had come back to Pine city. Again as he entered his one evening, he saw the now familiar silhouette of the Thunder king waiting for him.

"Whats your decision?"

"What do you want my help for? I wont be helping you take hostage or kill people or something like that."

"No. Its nothing like that. I am done with all that. I need your spatial gates to travel in order to make my journey faster and safer to some degree."

"I won't do anything other than that. " Aaron said.

"Trust me, I dont need you to do anything else. "

They both stared at each other in silence after that.

"Why did you pick me? You could have found other space mages. More knowledgeable, more stronger." Aaron asked the question he had in mind. Why pick him?

"Its true there were some better options. But they would be part of the border forces. Even I wouldn't dare to trespass there and they probably wont agree with me either. "

"Comparing magic power alone, you might be one of the strongest true mage. And you are yet to reach your peak I believe. " It was true. Elementalists had more power, but their consumption rate is equally high as well. The magic power Aaron had was a lot more than most true mages.

"The rest of the mages in the so called association arent worth much. They are good for getting some artifacts like space rings made, but thats about it. You have invented a new spell at such an age. Your future potential is tremendous. Say that I have taken a liking to it."

"Enough of this. Tell me your decision."

"I agree. " Aaron said. He sounded defeated though. He had wanted to say no. But saying no meant he would be stuck in his position for no one knew how long.

"Good. Gather your things. We would move now. "

Thunder king placed Aaron's stuff into his dimensional ring. Thunder king had a dimensional ring. Not space, but dimensional ring.

Aaron had used his gates to move Thunder king and himself out of the city. Thunder King directed him to a small village nearby.

"This will be our stop for two months before we make my final journey. I havent forgotton the promise of my 2 months of training either. We will use the two months to train and I will tell you all you need to know. Go to sleep now, we will talk in the morning. " He pointed Aaron to a small house.

Aaron quietly went to the house. He had difficulty sleeping that night.

Aaron woke up early in the morning. Thunder king was still sleeping.

He decided to do his morning training. He hadnt done it after Ron's death. He did it once when he was home, but he quit midway.

As Aaron trained, he found his body to be stiff at first. But the motions he was so familiar with gently eased out his body.

He saw Thunder king up and watching him practice. But he didnt stop. He finished his routine and then went towards Thunder king.

"Go get fresh and join me for breakfast."

The villagers it seems took care of Thunder king's daily needs.

They served simple, but hot breakfast.

They ate in silence for a while.

"Have you seen the map of the world in books?"

Aaron nodded.

"The world you see is bordered by sea on three sides and the 4th side is just empty. Right?"

Aaron nodded again.

"Actually the part you see is just a small part of a much larger world. A world almost 20 times larger or so I have heard."

"No one is sure about it though. The details are hazy. The sea around us, you know you can only travel for a fixed distance outwards before you are lost?"

"You can say our world is a prison. A very big prison which keeps us all in."

"Prison? Are we prisoners? " Aaron asked.

"This prison wasnt meant to keep us in, we just had the bad luck to be born into it."

"Let me start at the beginning. This world is known as Contura. The massive continent on it is called Prima. There is this only large continent. Rest are all small islands. "

"As to when the first Mages appeared here, no one knows. But they are the most powerful forces here. You wonder why the mages you have seen far appear to be weak? Even when I say they are the most powerful? I will come to that later."

"The mages had a good life. They led the world and they themselves grew stronger. But about 10000 years ago, there was a war fought on this world. A war so violent that it shook the very foundation of mages. It was against alien Invaders. Yes, there are other people in the universe other than us. "

Aaron already knew. He had already seen two worlds with life.

"The part of the world you see was a part of the wilderness. Humans from cities rarely ventured here. It was mostly home to few tribes."

"According to the history passed down, the mages were somehow able to defeat the Invaders, but they had to seal this part of the world. Although they had lost territory, it was a win since it wasnt an important one. As to how they were able to seal such a big place, we dont know."

"There were few mages who were stuck here as well. They werent strongest of the mage forces. But they somehow brought the wilderness under control, guided the tribes and somehow led our piece of the world into development. They were the pioneers of this new world. They started the mage association system as well which is a copy from the Prima continent."

"They made the common tongue used in the prima continent as the official language here as well. They wrote down the basic theories if magic and science to pass down to generations. They gave the tribes the techniques of that time. Techniques as in building, forging, farming, whatever they knew. The civilization you see is the blood and sweat of those mages."

"Sadly, a mage only lives only as long as a normal human. When they passed away, the generation of mages after them hadnt seen the outside world at all. They tried to follow the steps of the earlier mages, but failed to match them. They followed the system left behind, but it wasnt the same. Slowly mages began to forget about the past and started to focus on the task at hand. Tribes grew up. They formed kingdoms. Number of mages grew as well."

"The main battleground of that time is the so called desolate area. The battle there was so intense that there is still magic present in the air. Magic with something else. What it is, no one knows. But it caused an evolution in the wild animals which lived there. The evolution was slow."

"Mages had a rather peaceful life till 2000 years ago. Thats when the first evolved magical beast appeared."
