50 Chapter 50

"Insolent!" shouted the lady who had just arrived.

"You know your biggest mistake?" asked Thunder king as an answer to the woman.

"You brought me a space mage. I could take all of you away and no one would even know where you are."

"Now that would be insolence." Thunder king laughed at the reaction of the woman after he said that.

The woman knew he was right. But she couldnt bear the humiliating tone Thunder king used.

"Enough of this. Han, tell me why you made us come here?" said the old man who seemed to be the leader of the three.

"You are still the same old man. No sense of fun. But still, I will tell you why I brought you here. "

"I have heard whispers. Story of a mage stone. A mage stone big enough as the head of a person which was mined not too long enough."

The old man was astonished at how thunder king knew that. It was kept underwraps to prevent something like this.

"How did you come to know this?" Asked the other man.

"Just because a few of you dont agree with me, doesnt mean everyone else agree with you either. I have my sources. "

This was bad for the association. They had a mole at the top most level who fed information to Thunder king. The same thunder king who had such a high bounty.

"We cant give it to you. We have uses for it which might be important to the whole continent. " Said the old man.

"Whole continent you say? Hahahaha. Looks like you are truly beginning to believe what you have been preaching."

"We both know what you plan to do with it is a stop gap measure. Not a solution."

"But I think I have found an answer to one of the questions which might solve the problem once and for all." Thunder king said with a much calmer Expression.

No one had a clue what they were talking about. But they were sure about one thing, the people who had come were wary of the Thunder king. Thunder king talked to them as he was much stronger than them.

"Answer to the solution? What do you mean?" Asked the old man.

"He is speaking nonsense. Dont listen to him. He has gone senile. What was not achieved in 3000 years of our history, he has done that? Impossible. " Said the man besides the old man.

The old man raised his hand as to quiet down the man and allow Thunder king to speak.

Thunder king took a deep breath and looked serious this time.

"I have perfected my elemental form. I can turn into pure lightning. The speed I can achieve in that form is fast. Extremely fast. To a level that naked eyes cant see. But the magic cost is absurd. So high that I could do it for a couple of seconds only."

"I tried using mage stones. The normal ones lasts just a few minutes. The slightly bigger ones last a little longer, but not enough. If I had a bigger stone, I believe I could last the distance and cross the area."

"You think we would believe you? You might have learned the ability to turn elemental. Few mages in the past were able to too. But crossing over? No one had been able to. Even if they managed, they didnt return. Which means failure. Why would we give you the thing which might give us relief. Even if its temporary. May be the time provided would allow us to achieve a break through." The old woman said the last part with hope.

"You hope for a break through instead of the solution I provide? Is it because I turned my back on the association? You know it well I didn't do it out of greed. I did it because I felt what you were doing was not an answer. I dedicated myself to find a solution and when I found one, you wont listen to me?" Thunder king looked a little hurt as he said that. But he gathered himself and put a stern face.

"But I knew this would happen. You all are too stuck in your ways. Hence I had to arrange the little play. "

"I will kill everyone here other than you three. I will keep you alive along with the space mage of course. I will bring you around and kill the mage association members one by one till you agree. "

"Time to decide."

The old man looked defeated. He knew Han well. He was even one of his mentors. The boy genius. Magic came naturally to him.

He was their most capable fighter. The strongest mage in the last few centuries. He was named Thunder king after his profiency in his element of lightning. All achieved before the age of 25.

Then he changed. He began to question the ways of the association. He refused to follow orders. He finally quit.

He stole mage stones. The association kept their eyes closed due to his contributions. Hoping that he might return. They needed him. But all came to naught this day.

The old man knew. Han would do what he said. He had made the decision.

"Alright. I will give you the stone. Release everyone. "

The Old man agreed to Thunder king. He had no other options left. Killing Thunder king would sacrifice more mages then it was worth. Even then he was not sure. No one knew how strong he had grown in the last 10 years. He said he perfected his elemental form. That alone sent shivers down his back. Only a handful of mages had been able to do that in the recorded history.

"Released." Thunder king agreed readily.

"Who is it that is dead? What happened here?" The old man finally asked one of the mage association mages who was here before him.

He was the leader who had come along with Aaron. He was very respectful towards the old man. The man surely was someone important if he was sent to negotiate with Thunder king.

He told everything that had happened since morning. How they came to know of the hostage situation. How they took help of the mage families. How the young space mage brought them over. The games arranged by Thunder king.

How everyone performed. And finally how Ron had died. He left nothing out.

When the old man heard about Aaron's ability to cut swords, he turned towards him. He saw him sitting quietly besides the dead body. He thought the boy had prospects. Maybe he deserved a call to the border.

When he heard about the death, he looked towards Thunder king this time. His protege surely was having trouble maintaining his sanity he thought. He had caught a glimpse of it before as well but thought it as just the eccentric nature of a mage. But it was not so. Arranging bloody games was beyond eccentric behaviour.

He turned towards the mage from the Polaris city.

"Give the boy's family a 1000 mage stones as compensation and a letter of apology. I will handle the rest. " Thats it, thats all he had commented on the situation.

"Someone will get the stone to you as promised at this very location. I will leave with everyone else now. "
