47 Chapter 47

Aaron wanted to test himself now. This was the perfect environment for him. The guards would genuinely try to win but they wouldnt kill him.

Aaron readied himself with a proper stance this time. The guards knew what to expect now. They would also try to counter Aaron by avoiding his strikes altogether while they try to take him down.

Three guards jumped on Aaron together. Their plan was to sacrifice one of the guards who would launch a strike which Aaron would need to block with his sword while the other two would take advantage of that moment and lay their claim on the win.

Aaron saw what they were trying to do. Instead of clashing with them head on he took a step back. He remembered his father telling him time and time again, taking a step back isnt a loss.

The lesson was well used. When he took that step back he had made the guard who attacked him stretch with his sword. Aaron quickly made a motion with his sword and sliced his sword into two. Due to the distance he had created between them, the other two guards failed to utilise the scheme they had planned.

"Damn!" They cursed. One more of the guard who was standing behind them joined the other two in front.

They would have all attacked together, but if six person would try to attack him from the front, they would be blocking each other with the strikes. It was game where they couldnt afford to clash swords. They needed space to avoid strikes if Aaron made them.

They couldn't circle around him either. The three mages behind him looked out of sorts, but one of them looked a little less worn out. Exposing backs to him was filled with danger itself.

They once again tried the same tactic, this time it was a small jab instead of a full swing, that way the guard would have time to pull back in case Aaron stepped back again. Aaron stepped back again, but didn't get a chance to strike. The guards were prepared this time.

The game of cat and mouse continued with no one getting an advantage.

The guards looked at each other. They decided to go for it and all three of them attacked at the same time. Aaron could move fast, they could see that. But at most he could block two of the strikes. The third one would be his downfall for sure. They had tried to conserve their numbers at the beginning so that in case the third mage standing behind decided to fight, they could use the numbers advantage again. But Aaron was good enough to avoid them, so they changed their plans.

Aaron could see the desperation in them. He saw them move together. He had been waiting for that exact moment.

The three guards made a move.

Aaron moved fast. Fast enough that he met two of their swords with his own. He cut the swords clean and finished his movement to find the tip of the third sword in front of his chest.

"You have lost Sir mage. "

"I only loose if your weapon touch me. " Aaron said.

"It will take a gentle push from me. You cant raise your sword fast enough. We have won. "

"No we havent. " Said one the guard standing behind him.

"Turn around and see for yourself. " He added.

As the guard turned around, he could see a piece of the broken sword floating in front of his face with the pointed edge pointing towards him. It was inches away. He could see similar pieces of sword pointing behind the necks of the other two guards still left standing.

He sighed and put away his swords.

Damn mages. Never fought fair.

Thats right. Aaron had successfully split his mind into 3 parts in these last few months.

Throughout his short battle with the guards, he had had planned each step.

He took the gamble with the three guards. He frustrated them enough and made them attack together. He had always planned on defeating two of them only.

As soon as he began his final move, ue had controlled three pieces of swords lying on the ground. He used the moment when the guards were absolutely focussed on him to make the attack. That was the only way he could succeed.

"Bravo! Bravo!" Aaron could hear Thunder king say.

"I have to say I am impressed by you. I havent seen such a performance in a long time. I have seen stronger mages, but the presence of mind you displayed was amazing. My guards are very well trained and to pull one over them, that was good. "

"It still wouldnt have mattered except for that amazing sword of yours. You somehow applied space magic to make it sharper? I never thought it could be applied like that. Hmm."

He raised his hands and a piece on the ground raised and flew towards Thunder king.

That simple gesture had left the mage association mages astonished.

Telekinesis was an ability used by the air and space mages. A few other unique mages could display the effect. But a lightning mage doing that? That was unheard of. Thunder King truly was a genius.

Aaron could see fine sparkle of lightning around the sword piece.

He was using static current to make that happen. The control and understanding required for that to happen was beyond what Aaron could do.

Thunder king made it look like he didnt even put any effort.

As the piece of sword floated in front of the thunder king, he concentrated on it for a while.

He than made a motion and the piece flew towards the trunk of the tree the White brothers were sitting under initially.

It went through the trunk like hot knifw through butter. The edge on it looked no less sharp then the edge on Aaron's blade.

"I think I could improve on it a little more. Interesting use of magic."

It was Aaron's turn to be left amaze. He had worked months to create that spell.

But this Thunder king had seen it once in action alone and had been able to copy it. He didnt even ask how Aaron did it. What kind of comprehension did he have? Truly monstrous. Aaron felt cheated. He had the advantage that no other person here had. He thought he knew more about science than anyone else. Turns out he was wrong.

"So many possibilities of how magic can be used and we are stuck with what we know in this tiny corner of the world."

"I never thought I would have gained an inspiration here, but it was my fault for under estimating you. Talent could indeed be found anywhere. "

"So tell me, how should I reward you?"
