43 Chapter 43
With all the preparations done, it was time to leave.
One of the mages knew the way to the village and he was to lead the way.
Aaron took a deep breath and opened the first gate. He made it big enough for one person to pass at a time. He could have made it larger, but decided to save his power.
Ron was the first to pass through with Adam and Aaron being the last.
After a couple of successful gates, others felt much more confident with Aaron.
About mid way through the journey one of the mages signalled Aaron to stop.
"You can rest for a few minutes if you want. The gates so far already have saved a lot of time for us. "
"No, I can continue for now. I will rest if I need it. "
The mages leading were a little astonished at that fact. They werent sure if it was false bravado or he really did have high amount of magic power. But whatever the case, if he could successfully do it, it would be a big advantage for them.
Aaron did what he promised. He led to the outskirts of the village. It was behind a lone house so that they were hidden from rest of the village.
The could see the 100 or so villagers gathered in the middle of the village. There were a few guards with weapons at around and they could see the 5 people sitting under the shade of a tree. They were assumed to be the White brothers.
"We have the advantage of a capable space mage here. So what we are going to do is that the three of us are going to move right in front of the brothers with the help of a space gate. The presence of a space mage would make them aware of the situation they are in as well. Plus we are confident enough to handle them. If anything happens, Aaron could again use a gate to send you three as support. If you are forced to act, ready your spells before you step out of the gate. "
"You can handle two more gates Aaron?"
"Yes. Do you want me to make it big enough for you three to pass together? "
"That would be the best. Get us as close to those 5 as you can."
"Okay. Give me a moment. "
Aaron once again concentrated. Opening a bigger gate required more out of him, but he could handle it.
He placed the exit such that it would be a few metres in front of the 5 brothers.
He calculated and a couple of seconds later a black tear appeared in front of the three mages.
As they stepped through, the White brothers were shocked at the sudden presence of the three mages.
After stepping through, the mages followed the procedures of the association.
"We are from the mage association of Polaris city. We order you to release the villagers at once and come with us willingly to the association. You will be given a trial before you face the sentence for your crimes."
The brothers who were initially shocked at the sudden presence also calmed down a little by the time they were done speaking. They too were mages after all.
"So you guys have come. Ready to negotiate?" said the eldest looking brother.
"You know the rules. We dont negotiate. You either come with us willingly or we bring you back with us. "
"Actually we know that. We also know that today is the day off and you would have fewer mages at work today. The unexpected part was you coming with the help of a space gate. We know Polaris city dont have a space mage. And you didnt have enough time to bring one from another city. So the mage families must have been keeping one. You can ask whoever it is to come out. We wont harm him. Space mages are precious enough. " He had a grin on his face. It was like the things happening were within his expedtations.
The mage leading didnt have a good feeling about it.
From afar, Aaron couldnt hear what they were saying but from what he saw, he didnt see them willing to surrender.
"Enough. No need to talk nonsense. Are you coming with us or not?"
"No. But you will be staying with us here. Mage association doesnt negotiate. Lets see its true if its their mages who are held hostage."
"You must be dreaming. I didnt want to hurt you all. But you leave me no choice. "
"Attack them." The man commanded the other two mages with him. He readied his own spell as well. He decided to go with a wind blade aimed towards the legs of the the one speaking on behalf of the brothers. The other two mages with him were fire mages. They too readied their spells and flung them towards the target they had picked. The spells were fast and it wouldnt take them much time to reach the brothers.
The brothers had good understanding amongst them.
Two of them formed their elemental shields in front of the 5 of them. Two others flung their own spells towards the mages of the association. The mages cursed and brought up their own shields.
The first round of spells on both sides were negated.
"You know we are much stronger than you. That was a testing spell. If we go full power, your shields would be destroyed and you might end up dead."
"Say that only when you succeed said the leader of the white brothers. "
The mage association leader was annoyed at this.
This time he tried to bind him with air restraint while the other two mages once again fired a stronger spell. The brothers once again worked in conjuction and negated the spells.
The brothers had improved from the last report the association had on them.
He was frustrated from not being able to penetrate the defense.
He decided to go for the bigger spell.
"Enough! Use your strongest spell." He commanded.
He himself prepared an air torpedo. It took him a few seconds to concentrate and visualize the spell. He knew this would penetrate the defenses for sure. But the downside was that this might kill the target. He didnt have many options left though. The brothers proved to be a harder challenge than he had imagined them to be.
As the three mages launched their strikes, they suddenly saw a huge lightning web appear. The web easily managed to dispense the three spells.
"I never thought the scraps that the mage association keeps here would finally show some skills. "
A hansome looking slowly walked towards the scene from a house nearby. He was tall and elegently dressed. His hair nearly combed and he had a glow to his face. He looked ready to go to an event or something.
"Thunder king!!" said the mage association leader in a little fear.
Thunder king was one of the most wanted rogue. He topped the bounty list for several years. His crimes were always looting of mage stones. Where he came from or his past, no one knew. But there was one thing that everyone knew, he was strong. Very strong. He could fight several mages together. That could be seen with the display right now. He neutralised three of the strongest spells from three mages with just one of his. He didnt even looked like he was effected even in a slightest way.
