40 Chapter 40

The journey back to Modena was completed within two days by Aaron this time around. He used his gates to jump continously using the reference points he had noted down. It took him several gates, but he made it. He was strained to his utmost limit using the gates repeatedly. He had a severe headache due to overuse of his ability. He decided to rest in Modena for a night before he journeyed further.

Modena to Indigo city and Indigo city to one more transit and finally Pine city. The formalities at each city took more time than the actual time to travel. But he was here.

Pine city from it looks was everything a big city was. It had big buildings, wide streets, lots of people, street hawkers, shops lined along the roads.

The mage association building here was large. It could hold several hundred people with ease. The simple architecture gave it an elegant look. He learned that the Pine city branch was one of the main three branches of the Mage association.

The Pine province, the Maple province and the Rosewood Province made up the three most dominant forces of the eastern continent. They also held the three main branches of the Mage Association with the headquarter at Rosewood Province.

These details were in the booklet he had recieved on the first day at work.

Work wasn't what Aaron had thought it would it would be.

He would be called each time the bank under the association would have to make some changes to the lockers. Some one hadnt paid their rent and their key needed to removed. Some keys had to changed because the users felt unsecured about it. Things similar to that. It wasnt glamorous at all. It felt like a regualar office job and not a mage like job Aaron had expected it to be. The plus point was the free time he had. The mage association boasted of a big library and Aaron decided to make full use of it.

The first thing he noticed was that this library held much more books in regards to the history and details of this world.

Library at the academy was much more focussed on academic studies alone.

This was the first time he had seen a map of the world. The the map was infact of only the eastern part. The western border of this eastern continent showed nothing. At first Aaron had assumed that the western border of the known provinces would be an ocean like the rest of the sides. But it wasnt so. He also checked other books. But it was the same. Aaron was intrigued by this. Maybe it was still unexplored. The second part which interested him was the history regarding the continent. The earliest recorded history was of around 2000- 2200 years. Before that it was absolutely blank. It was like humans and mages appeared suddenly. Looks like this world did have its own mysteries which he was unaware of. He would need to ask right people about it.

Talking about right people, the person whom Aaron reported to wasnt right at all.

He went by the name Abram Wilson. An old man with an inbuilt hate system for Aaron. He took Aaron for a young kid who was arrogant because of his talents. From the office murmurs he had heard, Abraham hated everyone. He had been stuck on his position for several years and he had no chance for any promotions. That had made him a bitter old man. Aaron kept himself out of his way and only reported to him when necessary.

Aaron also got to know a few other people at work. But he noticed he was younger than most. He was picked up because of his talents and true mage abilities. That was the reason he got what others described as a lucrative job. The other mages usually began their work at smaller branches. Also most combat mages were placed at the part they referred to as 'Border'. It was the western border. What they did there, Aaron didnt know. When he asked around he noticed people being tight lipped.

As he spent his time at office, he got his first out of town commission. It was to Polaris city. A client had some problems accessing his locker with his space ring. Since it was a client from a big mage family, he was provided door service. Aaron had to go there to see to it. Luckily, Polaris city was the second largest city of the Pine province. It had a direct gate from pine city. Aaron left the next morning to meet his client.

As he reached Polaris city, he was provided a carriage to get to the client's place.

The client was the Wilson family of Polaris city. They were a part of one the most powerful families located there.

Aaron wondered if Abram Wilson was part of this 'Wilson' family. Did he make him travel instead of them coming to the bank to sort out the issue? Aaron didnt pay much heed to it. He didnt mind it. He had to just use a gate anyways.

As he reached the destined place,

he could see a mini palace in front of him. It had a gate at front manned by guards.

As his carriage approached the gate

"Halt! State your purpose of visit to the Wilson family. "

"I am mage Aaron Rosil. I am here on behalf of Mage Association's bank. There was a complaint filed the Wilson family. Notify them of my presence. "

"Wait till we enquire."

Although the carriage had the emblem of the mage association, the guards were from a big mage family. They werent awed by it much. They continued to their duty as per the books.

"Okay. You can go ahead. " The guards opened the gate and Aaron moved towards the house.

The 'Wilson house' was the most beautiful structure he had seen so far. It had a white exterior which was adorned with pillars. There were was a lawn in front with a fountain. As the butler received him and brought him in, he noticed the floor to be made of something like marble on earth. Interior was luxuriously decorated. The roof had chandeliers lined with mage lights. It was the most luxurious place he had seen in this world so far.

"You are young for the work you are supposed to do. Looks like the standards of the association are getting low. "

That was the first line the man who came to meet Aaron said. He himself wasnt very old. 25-26 at most.

"Just make sure you do your job properly. " He gave Aaron no respect at all. No introduction, nothing.

He showed the space 'ring' to Aaron. It was made as a bracelet. Aaron looked at it found the key to its activation was tampered with. Aaron didnt care who did what. He sorted out the activation and checked once again, it was working fine. He demonstrated that to the young man again.

"Looks like you do know a little of what you are doing. You can leave now."

Aaron knew he had met his first snobbish young master. He shook his head and left.

He remembered something regarding to Polaris city, "Ron".
