28 Chapter 28

Aaron had girl troubles. Not the one where he liked a girl or something like that. Because he thought himself to be older than all the students at the institute. He was too, mentally atleast. So girls this young didnt raise any sort of interest in him, plus it felt wrong.

The trouble was because of June. June was growing up to be a beauty in her own rights. As he was talking with her for a bit on their day off, he saw a smart looking boy about his height approach them with two other boys following him.

He saw the guy was much better dressed than him and had a air of superiorty around him.

"I have heard about you. You seem to be called a genius in our batch? But no matter what you are, you are just a production class mage. I have been selected for the inter academy tournament. If you think you are better, come challenge me. "

Aaron had no clue why that boy was saying whatever he was saying. As Aaron looked at the boy, June who was standing with him suddenly said "Ron! Just because you are good at combat doesnt mean you have the right to challenge everyone you talk to. I have already said I will think about what you said. But if you keep bothering everyone I talk to, the answer is definitely going to be a no. Now what do you want?"

Hearing June left Ron red faced. But he seemed to calm down a bit too.

"Dont get angry June. You know I wont hurt him. Take your time and answer. I am alright with it. "

He went away as fast as he came. Aaron turned towards June with a grin on his face. He knew what it was about. The boy had his eyes on June. And probably asked her out or something similar. June said she will think about it. But the boy got anxious seeing Aaron talk to her a few times.

"Dont Aaron, just dont. Dont say anything. He isnt that bad. He is just a little insecured. You are quite famous you know. Plus he really wont do anything. He knows the rules and seen what happens when someone breaks them. "

"I am just worried that getting in a relationship now would be a bad idea now since we only have about a year and a half left in the academy. "

"I dont know June, sometimes not getting into a relationship might be diatracting as well. You might keep on thinking about it. You got to decide what to do. Dont leave him waiting for too long either. Try and make sure to come up with an answer for him. " Aaron gave away all the worldly advice he had.

Aside from that little incident, his time at the academy went by very peacefully. He didn't have people who bullied him. Teachers who tried to suppress him. No fight to death duels. Every student was busy in their own studies. They didnt have time for all that. Being a mage was mentally exhausting. At the end of the day, you didn't have the will to bother with someone else.

One thing Aaron was sure of now though. He made more magical power than most of his peers. He judged by how Marcus asked him to stop when he thought he might have an headache. When alone he tried and found that he could go much longer without a headache. The headaches he got went away much faster too.

He attributed this to his mental age. The crossover seemed to have granted him a bit for of an advanced mind. He was thankful for the gift even though he didnt get a system.

A year went by. Aaron was growing up to be fine young man.

He was tall and slim. The daily training training had his body in good shape and the sword training made sure he was agile. His mage training according to Marcus was finished long back. He was just practicing to be better and learning some tips and tricks for daily purposes. He also successfully partitioned his mind. Now he could control two objects with his 'telekinesis' spell. Or perform two spells at the same time. He also noticed he could do a calculation for another spell while he was using one spell. The two parts of the mind were could be used independently as he wished. This was fascinating. He could read and write simultaneously. He have heard of legends on earth of people like Leonardo da vinci who could do two things like write and paint with his two hands simultaneously. He wondered if he had a similar ability.

He also learned that the so called graduation exam held was by the teacher incharge of each student. They were in the best position to judge whether or not a student was good enough to be called a mage.

He also to came to know a bit about the world of mages. Mages were ranked as Master, Grandmaster and Arch mage. Each type of mage had a basic set of spells which they had to master to be called a master mage or a grandmaster mage. To be an arch mage you had to create a new spell which was a high tier spell. The lines were pretty blurred between the rankings. They just showed seniority now instead of strength of a mage. Logically if Aaron could successfully allow a person to traverse through a space gate, he would be allowed to be called as a grandmaster mage. But he was considered too young. So he would be only called as a master mage. He would be elevated after a few years.

Aaron had tested his gate with small animals. He did it with success. Only part left to test was with a human. Marcus said he would do it himself as the subject.

The young mages were also told to read about the rules of the mage association. They were by default a part of the association once they graduated. They could choose not to be a part of it, but then they would loose all the priviliges associated with it. They would be allowed to reconsider the decision once in the future, if they left again, they wont be allowed to be a part of the association.

As a member of the association, the space gates were free to use. You could get assistance from all branches of a mage association. The authority of common world couldnt judge you. Also lots of information available in the association would only be accessed by the members. You had access to resources as well. Like mage stones. You could trade for them at reasonable prices at the association.

As for rules, you were not allowed to kill any common people. If you had a grudge against a mage of the association you had to take the permission for a duel. You also had to work for the association and follow the seniority. As a result lot of people chose not join them. They were usually from the mage families or people of royal families. For people like Aaron, mage association was the best option, atleast for the immediate future.

As graduation came closer, he started missing home more and more.
