26 Chapter 26

Aaron grew better at spells. He could now also do mental calculations on a higher level. He was very knowledgeable about maths. He knew such calculations were impossible to do with a mind at this speed. Being a mage was definitely came with benifits.

The thing which really surprised him was the he was improving at. The calculations which took him few minutes to do on paper took him few seconds to do mentally. Space transmission, it just took a focus of few seconds now. According to marcus, it was on par with a normal mage. He thought Aaron had peaked at mental mathematics. But Aaron knew he hadnt. He felt he improved everyday. So like everything else, he decided to hide it.

Already 2 years had passed since he started to learn the division of his mind. He was sure he was near enough to success. He was told the first partition was the most difficult. He would be much faster later on.

These were the last two years in the Institute. Marcus told him he had the learnt the basics of magic. Rest was upon himself to learn and explore. Also it was time he learned how to apply the spells he learned. Before that, one of the crucial thing for him to understand was the use of mage stone.

The most important usage of a mage stone was to bring a sense of permanence amd stability to spell. Spells could be attached to a mage stone. The mage stone powered the spell by its own energy. A small coin sized mage stone was powerful enough to float a chair for centuries. But if it was used to open a space gate, it would be used up in a few months. This usage of mage stone made it expensive.

When Marcus was talking about magic application in daily life, he talked about the lights used in the academy. It contained a grain size magestone placed in a glass sphere with a basic light spell attached to it. It could run for years. Clean and efficient lighting. He also told him how the space gates he saw were made. The mage stones used in the pillars supporting it could last for centuries even though such spatial gates required a lot of energy. People would ask a space mage to shrink some things and attach a little mage stone to it. That would make the transportation easier. But that was for the rich only. Marcus asked him about what sort of application could Aaron think of as a Space mage.

The first thing that came to Aaron's mind was a space ring.

"You know, a space ring is already used by people. But its not what you think it is. There is no seperate dimension. There are dimensional true mages who can do it. They are even rares than space mages. You can say they are a branch of space mages, but they are completely different. Also a dimensional storage ring would be much more expensive because they are that rare. Now, how space mage make a storage ring is a bit of a trick. "

"You know how we can create spatial gates? You know how can expand or contract space?"

Aaron nodded.

"Got an idea about how to proceed now?"

"We open a spatial gate between a ring and a fix place and use that place for storage? But we would need a big place for storage depending on the need."

"You are half right. But you wouldnt need a big space. A spall space with a shrinking spell attached to it. Whatever you pass on from the ring side of the gate would be shrinked to small size. When you pull that item back, it would be big again. The whole system depends on mage stone to power. To use, it has key on it which is activated in different ways depending upon the ring. The weird part about it is how your hand shrinks when you put it in the ring. But you get used to it after a while. There are some banks which have specialized lockers with a spatial ring. You could even rent its services. Its quite a lucartive business mind you. "

Aaron marvelled at how magic was used and incorporated into life. They even had banks in it. It was like carrying your personal locker.

"The greatest difference between a space storage ring and a dimensional storage ring is that the locker used to store has to be stationary. It cant be moved once a ring has been attached to it. Also once you activate the ring, it does several calculations for its current coordinates, so you need to keep it as stationary as possible for the moment you use it. Another limitation is distance. A ring has a small mage stone attached to it as well. If the distance between the ring and the locker is too large, the mage stone would get used up faster. Remember when I say ring, its symbolic. Rarely people would choose a ring. Mostly its come common looking accessory to make it look inconspicuous. No would want others to know they have such a valuable item with them. "

"Alright enough of those explanations. Lets teach you how to attach spells to a mage stone. "

Aaron found that imprinting spell on a mage stone was a difficult task. It wasnt something you could do in an instant. It took some time and intense amount of focus. It needed firm will and patience ad the spell was slowly imprinted on it. Aaron started with simple spells at first. But he was learning fast.

Also now he decided to show some of his capabilities. Being a genious also meant getting appropriate rewards. During his tenure, because of his performace, Marcus had him shifted to a room reserved for the students who pay for the fee. The room was luxurious compared to the room he was initially in. He was allowed more stipend. Now he could atleast enjoy his meals in the paying section. Not too extravagant. But decent enough. He survived on much worse. Instant Ramen wasnt really nutritional.

He saved some money. Although he had no clue on how expensive the world was, but he knew having money saved up was never a bad idea. He was told mages could earn money easily, but an initial capital was always a good idea.

Harry had graduated and left the institute. He also started talking with his fellow students a little more as well. Mages were extraordinarily intellegent. So although his current peers were 13-14 years old, they had more intellegence then a grown up. If he disregarded their teen like shenanigans sometimes, it wasnt totally bad to talk with them. He mostly talked about magic and tried to learn their experiences while he shared some of his. The two people he was most close with were the two kids who came together with him. They were called Mark and June. They were part of the royal family in their provinces. Them being mages were something of a great pride for them and their families.

As he was sitting with Marcus, Marcus said " its been two months since you have started working with mage stone, how do are feeling working with it?"

"Its been good. I have been able to imprint basic spells. More advanced spells are still difficult for me."

"Keep working, with your aptitude it wont take long. You know, its now almost time for inter academy tournament. "
