25 Chapter 25

Days went by quickly for Aaron. He had a lot to do everyday. But one thing he hadnt neglected was his morning training.

As he was doing his morning run one day, a couple of guards stopped him.

"You are student of the academy, right?"

"Yes I am."

"You are studying to be a mage, right?

"Yes."

Aaron wondered where this whole conversation was going.

"We see you train daily. We were just wondering why do you do it when you are training to be a mage."

Aaron understood their curosity.

"Its because of my father. He always wanted me to do so. He said it was important. And now the training makes me feel better. "

"I see. We also saw you train your sword. Were you taught by your father?"

"Yes. "

"You got the basics right, but those are simple moves. If you want I could teach you a bit more. Do you want it?"

Aaron knew the moves he practiced were too few and basics. So he agreee.

"I am Wyvell Hinds. I am a member of the Mage guard unit under the mage association. He are placed here for security."

Aaron was sure mages didnt need security of common guards.

"I know you think our jobs are useless, but we daily stop lots of commoners who try to enter the institute. It would be hassle if they were to number. And there is power in numbers. If enough people were to gather, even a mage would fall. "

"Thank you for doing your job then. I am Aaron. I would like to learn. Can we start today? I am all warmed up. "

So Aaron had a new activity added to his daily routine. Wyvell didnt only teach him sword routines, he also improved his training regime. What Aaron was previously doing was suitable for a 8 year old boy. Now he was older and stronger, he could certainly do a lot more.

Soon six months passed. Aarons 12th birthday had already passed. This world didnt had the tradition to celebrate birthdays. They just used to it calculate the age of a person.

One afternoon, while he was practicing he was successfully able to open a spatial tear. It made him feel like he had acomplished something really big. He tried a few times more. He was able to replicate his success a couple of times more. He took an apple and casually threw it the tear as he did with Marcus. As per his calculations, it should have come out a metre away. But it didnt. He waited for a few seconds more, nothing happened. Looks like he messed up. It was good that marcus had warned him earlier. Who knows where that apple had landed.

At at a distant place, a young man was sleeping under a tree. He suddenly felt something dropped on his head. He saw it was an ordinary apple. But that ordinary apple made him realise something extraordinary.. but thats a story for some other time.

As Aaron practiced more, he grew better at it. After a few days more he was successfully able to transmit the apple over a distance of a metre.

He was confident enough now to show it to Marcus.

"Looks like you have already succeed a few days ago. You practiced to polish your skill and then displayed it in front of me. "

Marcus could tell that Aaron had been practicing it sucessfully for a few days atleast.

"Yes, at first I couldnt control the exit. But I could do it now over a shorter distance. " Aaron said truthfully.

"You shouldn't do it too often. Space transmission requires a lot of magical power to tear the space. It would give a headache which would hinder your studies troughout the day. "

Aaron had already noticed Marcus talking about getting headaches due to overuse of magic. But he had never had any problems, even now he could perform the spatial transmission many times without feeling anything. At most he would feel a little tired. He had a faint Idea why it was so. It was said, magical power grew with age and reached the peak when you reached adulthood. Although physically he wasnt an adult, but his mental age was past adulthood since his birth. This might have resulted in him having more magical power than a normal mage. He also felt it grow. He could perform more magic then he could at the time he started, so his magical power still hadnt reached peak as he was still growing physically.

He hadnt come to that conclusion blindly. He had read a lot books regarding magic power and how it grew and varied person to person. He decided not to tell about it to Marcus. It wasnt that he didnt trust him, Marcus has always been good to him. But he didnt want too much attention on him. He already had people whispering about him on how much time he spent studying or how soon he had access to advanced reading. But that was still explained by his high intellegence. A genius. But explaining abnormal amount of magical power, that would bring a different kind of attention. He would avoid disclosing it now to prevent any issues.

"You know you must be one of the youngest mage in recorded history to successfully use the transmission spell. "

Although spell is used to describe the magic performed, but on Contura, the word spell meant something more. It incorporated the understanding of a mage. Each mage would have spells which he could do more easily than others because of his level of understanding.

"Now you need to increase the size of the tear and do transmission over larger distances. I would advice to you to focus on one aspect at a time. It would be much easier. You could keep the distace constant and increase the size of the tear and later increase the diatance keeping the size constant or vice versa. "

"Also I want you to try one more thing. It was something which you were supposed to learn much later. But I think you have done well enough to try it. I want you to do concurrent casting. Its casting two spells at the same time. "

"Sounds easy, right? Go ahead try it."

Aaron focused on his most basic spell. He lifted up an apple from the top of the table. Now he tried to enlarge it. As soon as he began to enlarge it, the apple fell down. The reason being that once he tried to enlarge the apple, the first visualization of the apple floating melted away. He tried it several times but result was the same. He tried it in different order. No differences.

"If you continue doing what you are doing, you can never succeed. "

"You remember me telling you about how magical power also enhances your mental capabilites? Its related to that. "

"A mage can divide his mind. In each section you can perform different tasks. If you are performing multiple tasks, the magical power gets divided depending on the spells you are using."

"To achieve this division of mind, once again you have to visualize. This time instead of visualizing something from outside, you have to visualize your mind. Then you need to imagine it being parted into two. Also remember each mage have different limit to how many divisions they can do. The normal is 6. The better ones can do upto 10. And the absolute geniuses can reach upto 15. But thats over a period of time. So dont go overboard. "

"Come I will help you this time to go through the process once. "

With that Marcus began teaching Aaron something which would let Aaron know how different he was from the other mages.
