18 Chapter 18

Aaron woke up early that day. Not only because he was excited, but it has become a habit now. His father woke him up early for training, and during his journey they woke up early not to loose much of daylight.

He had his daily training, took a shower, dressed up in the school uniform which unfortunately werent robes as he was expecting after reading so many fantasy books. It was a pair of normal shirt and trousers which actually fit him quite well. He had his breakfast at the mess and was set for the new day.

The new students were ushered to gather in an auditorium of sorts.

An old man with white complete white beard stepped up in front of them. He too wore a tight fitting jacket. Maybe Ryan borrowed his style statement from him.

If he wore a white robe, a certain white wizard might have had a competition on his hands.

"Good morning everyone." The old man spoke with deep and clear voice.

"You can call me Denzo Hamilton. I am the assistant head master of this academy. I would like to welcome you all to Eleven stars academy on behalf of the Headmaster, myself and everyone else who make this institute what it is."

"You have successfully passed the mage selection test, it means you have the potential to be a mage, but it does not mean that you will be a mage for sure. So, don't be happy just because you are successfully selected, this is just the beginning."

"Now, you must have been told, but I will remind you again. Follow the rules. There wont be any exceptions to it, no matter your background."

"Now, you must remember that a mage's time is very valuable. There is always something which they need to do. So when they are giving that time to teach you, you have to appreciate that. Learn as much as you can from them. Dont slack off during classes."

"Thats all I have to say. I will hand you over to your teachers now. "

He quickly left after that.

"I am Elena, I will be the current teacher for you. I would ask you all to move to your class room now. "

She led the class of 43 students to a class room which was simply bland to say. Classrooms are same no matter which world you are in.

"You wont be forced to attend classes. If you feel you dont need to, dont. We are here to guide you. No one can teach you to be mage. It all depends upon you. " Before the students could comprehend what she really meant, she continued.

" You will be evaluated at the end of each year. If you fail to pass that. You will be struck with the same course next year as well. If you fail again, you are out. Simple as that." Aaron felt it was a bit weird that Elena put it out so directly to the young students. Yes mages were exceptional, but they were just kids. Hee was slowly but surely getting used to this mildly eccentric personalities of the mages.

"I know most of you feel that you are very intelligent. People around you praised you for how smart you are. You must be smarter than all other kids your age or even them who were older than you. But here you arent that special. Everyone is smart here. They are here sitting with you, aren't they?"

" Having high intellegence is a must for mages. You could say mages as born smart. It is sometimes even used as a tell to point out whether a child would be a mage or not. So, you better not act on that pride of being the smart kid."

Aaron couldnt help but smile. He didnt think, he knew he was smarter. His competitors were kids. No matter how smart they were, he knew he was smarter. It was like a heavy weight champion fighting in the feather light weight category. He held an innate advantage.

"I will be teaching you basic of magic and its history. I will allow you to ask questions at the end of the class. Do not ask questions in between."

"I know the first question you are going to ask. And the answer is that you are too far away to cast magic. You all dont understand magic at all. So, until I feel you are ready, you wont be practicing any magic at all. "

You could almost hear a collective sigh. Everyone in the class was depressed hearing that.

"Now who can tell me what magic is?"

Elena asked.

"Yes, you the one who is about to stand up. " Yes, there were those kind of students everywhere.

"Magic is the ability through which we could effect the world around us. It is purely mental in nature and is intangible. There is nothing physical about magic except the fact that it effects the physical world around us. " Said the kid who was sure to become the teachers pet. It felt as if he was reciting it from a book.

Aaron decided he would preferably be the slightly above average kid. If he overdid stuff, it might raise questions. He didn't have a solid enough foundation. Laying low was a good idea. So he decided to let the teachers pet hog the lime light.

"Perfect textbook answer. But it still doesnt answer what it really is. Where does it come from. Is it natural or someone made us capable of doing it. Whats its history? How does it even work the way it does? Why are some able to do it while others can't? We will try to answer all those questions and many more in our class."

Aaron knew this class was going to be interesting perhaps answer some questions he had been asking himself of late. He patiently waited for Elena to begin.
