17 Chapter 17

As Aaron and the others entered the building, Aaron saw the interiors were simple, but elegant. The thing which really set it apart from others which Aaron had seen so far were the lights. It didnt have the commonly used oil lamps which he had seen so far in this world.

The lights were glass spheres of different sizes which gave off a milky white light.

He saw a lady sitting at the reception.

Ryan walked upto to her and said "Ryan Renolds, reporting the ward allocated to him by the name of Aaron Rosil."

The lady looked up from whatever she was doing. She was a plain and thin woman. Some streaks of grey in her hair, but she projected strength even being as thin as she was. She wore a loose blue blouse and had her hairs in a bun.

"You very well know I am not the receptionist, you dont need to be so formal. I am just covering up for her while she is away. You know we are low on budget and cant afford to bring in extra receptionist. All those scholarships do hurt the expenditure budget you know."

"So, you bought a fellow from so far away eh. Ok, you can leave. I will take care of the rest. You can leave too Anthony. I know you brought your wards too. If you don't have anything else to report that is. "

"Alright, take care Aaron. Have a good stay at the academy."

Ryan and Anthony soon took their leave after saying fairwell to the students they brought here. No matter what kind of fronts they put up, they did want the kids to do well.

"So now kids. Listen up. Your classes would be starting up in a week's time. We are waiting for all the new students to come. There are still a few left. Since you are the scholarship students, you would be provided with everything you need. Boarding, food, clothes and study materials included. You would also get a small amount of monthly stipend to spend."

" Those were the good things. Now for the rest. " She took a deep breath before continuing.

"An important part about being a mage is discipline. And we at the eleven stars academy expect all the students to follow the rules by their own accords. Strict actions would be taken agaisnt the person who breaks the rules irrespective of the background. You will be provided with rule books. Memorize it well. And remember my name, Ana. I am the one who would be dishing out punishments if you break the rules. Am I clear?."

"Yes Ma'am." The kids echoed.

It felt like how the military used to talk in the movies. But he guessed since they are spending so much of money on them, they would expect some sort of discipline. It wasnt wrong on any accounts to expect that.

Soon they were guided to their rooms. Aaron found that he had to share his room with one more student. The student hadnt shown up yet though so Aaron could chose his side as he liked.

He was also allocated the rule book and his measurement was taken for the uniform. He was told that he could collect a few pairs of casual clothes as well every year.

The room was sparsely decorated. Two beds on each side. Two tables, two chairs. It also had those spherical lights. Each light had a command token. When the tokens were within a specific distance of the light, it would turn on. To turn it off you would need to carry it farther then the activation area or cover it up with a piece of cloth or any other thing. Quite convenient. The room also had a window. Through the window he could see the city in the horizon.

Aaron chose a bed and decided to settle in. He arranged his few possessions. Some clothes, shoes and a wooden practice sword his father gave for him. He didnt get a chance to practice it during his journey. He decided he would begin his practice again.

The mess provided free food. Like every mess, the food wasnt really satisfying. There was a different section where you could pay for your food and order what you want, the quality was better as well. But Aaron naturally couldnt afford that. To be honest he was used to mess food in his previous life, so he didnt really mind it.

Next morning Aaron woke up early. He went out for a run. After that he practiced his sword moves. Looks like beeing cooped up in the carriage for so long had made his body a little rusty. He decided he would train up to be in his best shape as his father had expected him to be.

He didnt have anything much to do in his spare time. His room mate still hadn't shown up. He met the two kids he came along with a couple of times. He didnt have much to talk about with them . He had a much higher mental age then them to begin with. He felt it much easier to talk with grow ups.

The week was finally over. The week had been rather strange for Aaron. It was perhaps the first week in his new life during which he wasn't told what to do. He could do whatever he wanted to do within the rules of the institute of course. He didn't knew when he would perhaps live such a carefree life again. But for now it was time to start his first official day at the mage academy.
